The owner said there was a “ misunderstanding” that the police wanted to repossess the house. Hearing from people in Scotland that 5 cars and multiple policeman indicates something else. She was never given additional info. Listen, I know it’s not their “responsibility” per se, but they hold themselves up as an alternative to a hotel. What hotel would cancel your reservation tell you there was no room and not give you a place to stay? They certainly wouldn’t walk to to a hotel that was already booked. And while being female should not make a difference, unfortunately most crime that happens to solo travelers is crimes against women. This the hesitation in staying alone with a 60 year old man either only one review. I checked a lot of reputable sites. Dept of State gives a good overview and tips.

But she is safe. And loves Scotland❤️

I’ve stayed in Airbnbs in a number of countries that why I felt it was a safe option for her. The lack of customer service and responsiveness is disgraceful. Another one since you seem to think she’s glamorous

Wow. I’ll remember to use Booking.com next time. See, I guess I assumed Airbnb would have that type of customer service. But you know what they say about assuming…..😒

Same. I’ve always had a great experience. Which is why this is so surprising. The hosts had a ton of 5 star ratings! The on the ground experience is more about the host than Airbnb but when they fail Airbnb should make it right. Just good business.

Mmmm maybe right on the ageism and sexism. No matter how old your kids are- you worry. But I do think it was in Airbnb’s control to help rectify the situation. She rolled with the punches but got no assistance from Airbnb. Good customer service isn’t something that should be out of the ordinary. It’s just good business practice.
