Mostly, they don't want to be left out. Being on the Autism Spectrum is the new black.

I was preaching "the word of god" in my twenties and thirties. In my forties, the biblical research ministry I was shilling for led me to research a fact too far, and I began to deconstruct my beliefs.

I can't give an exact answer, but by my late forties or early fifties, I'd totally shed my religious indoctrination.

I thought I was an atheist. It turns out I'm an agnostic atheist. That is, I don't believe in god (atheist) because there's no proof (agnostic).

Personally, I believe anyone who would be unwilling to believe in a god that was scientifically proven is as misguided as those who believe in a god based on faith alone. But then people aren't the brightest candles in the silverware drawer anyway.

"Hey... somebody open this drawer! It smells like somebody DIED in here!

This is utopian. "In a perfect world, people would worship as they chose and not proselytize others." This is contrary to human logic.

When a person is committed to a faith-based belief (religious or otherwise), logic and reason can not overcome their beliefs.

Until THEY make the change and begin accepting reason, and evidence, reason will not defeat faith... regardless of how absurd that faith is.

When will their trying to save your soul end? When THEY accept reason. You can't change them anymore than they can change you.

In 1977, Henry Winkler and Sally Field were in a forgettable movie called "Heroes".

When it was released, the theme song was "Carry on My Wayward Son."

Apparently, when it was released on video the theme was changed to something as forgettable as the movie.

I was today years old (64+) when I learned...

(I remember the movie, I love the song but did not connect the two.)

I really don't see changing anything. What I've done led me to where I am. I'm happy, overall, and none of it was disastrous. So I may have quit smoking earlier or bought a different used car, but nothing of consequence.

I was a Methodist, part of a sub-collective, now I'm not. I'm not just not Methodist, I'm not part of a sub-collective.

I didn't "join" atheism, I left religion. Not A does NOT equal B.

Driving for Uber Eats... hear me out: I'm 64, retired, and own my own home outright. Money isn't the point (good cause Uber pay is shit).

After a career of following rules, even when they are bone stupid, being the master of my own destiny (I chose when, and how long I work) is damn cool.

Because my wife bought me the t-shirt (w/a fox on it), I say, " Aw, fer FOX sake!" But you can't really hear the difference. LoL.

"I had no choice but to remove it."

Nonsense, you ALWAYS have a choice. If your "friends" are offended because you don't buy their fairytales... you might want to find some better fruends.

Shokz Open Run they're bone conductance headphones, so they don't plug your ears. I drive in them all day, year round.

At home, I use them for t.v., gaming, and music. They have all the quality I want, great (10hr+) battery life, and they're the only blue tooth headphones my wife and I can talk over on the phone.
