I live in a fairly sunny place. The reason for native plants is so they don't bake in the hot california sun. If I can do a food forest of plants that can survive in extreme 110-degree weather in the summer and sometimes extremely rainy or extremely dry winters, I will.

New house, with backyardGrowing / Gardening

I am solarpunk-ish, but I now have my own backyard and want to make it really green and lush. What I need is a way to find native plants to plant. How do I go about this, are there like hotlines I could call?

How do you go about making a city with pre-existing infrastructure and street layouts into a more walkable city. For context I live jn Stockton, Ca.

Basically as the title says. I want a walkable city, and sure I could move but I don't want to, I want to help my city become more walkable. However, I do not know how to do that lol.

Also, an LVT is waaayyy less regressive than sales or gas tax

I've heard this, too. However, that would assume we just want LVT, which is called Georgism. I say we do LVT as the base tax since every piece of land is now taxed, while right now, many empty lots are just sitting there, owned by land speculators waiting to sell super high. Then we do like a flat tax, something low, rich people don't like to pay, keep it low but make it mandatory. LVT is a consistent tax since you can't move the land, and it would actually lower taxes for most people who own land, plus landlords wouldn't be able to raise rents because to do so would be admitting their land appreciated in value which means their taxed more, and a flat tax thats not super high to make up the difference. By doing so, we could eliminate property taxes, maybe sales taxes, and hell, even the gas tax.

Yes, this. The more I learn about Land Value Taxes, the more I don't understand why we don't have them.

Yes, very bad. Can barely breathe, think it's exasperating my asthma.

I've seen that wiki. For me, and I'm relatively new, it can be summed up as "individual freedom and social responsibility." So whichever of those I fall into, I'm ok with it. It seems as though this school of libertarianism is somewhat new, so there may be a wide array of viewpoints.

While I like and am in favor of a land value tax, I don't think just having the one tax only would be able to fully fund any programs to help those in need, like UBI.

Good to hear. The reason I asked about the name is because people will assume we're libertarian socialist. I want some distinct names.

Question about name

Totally new to this ideology, I like it, feels like home, but the name is a little long, and doesn't have a distinct feel to it. When I first found this I thought it was Libertarian Socialism, which I don't agree with. Is there a shorter name, or should we try and make one. I know this is a little low on priorities, but just curious.

During a flood on the Mississippi River, he refused to allocate funds to help the people, instead sending Herbert Hoovet to help them by raising money, but they needed more money, and he refused. This all happened when congress was out of session, but when they came back, they sent aid.

Geothermal???Discussion

Why isn't everybody always talking about Geothermal energy? It seems to be the most sustainable and renewable energy, that also never stops working like solar at night and wind when there is no wind. Am I missing something? I just learned my state, California, produces only 4% of its energy from this energy source. Is it money? Or something else?

These tropes drove me away from anime

Another question is why don't libertarians or even any third party try more for local elections instead of only federal elections?

Yes, but also, we dont have the aesthetic. If I'm gonna love in dystopia, it has to look cool.

Personally, I'd say decriminalize drug use but criminalize drug use in public spaces with somewhat harsher punishment. Prison doesn't help anyone, so building more wouldn't do much. And what police need is better training, then maybe higher pay and budget, but only if the quality is improved.

Should we change the constitution to allow legal immigrants who have lived in the country a long time, payed their taxes, commited no crimes, and maybe served in public office, to be eligible for president?

I was following 2 of those. Just followed the third.

I like being the viewer lol but I'll check them out.

Why is there no Stockton centric Youtube/Tiktok channel?Entertainment

Like a channel that explores our city (safely), goes to local restaurants and maybe reviews them, covers local politics. Like a page not dedicated to the bad stuff (and I know there's a lot).

Third PlacesEntertainment

Does Stockton have third places? A third place for those who don't know are places where people spend time between home (first place) and work (second place).
