My seasonal allergies are very bad this year. Usually there’s only a few bad days/a week, but everyday for the last few weeks has been very bad. Wondering if it’s just me or if others are feeling the same thing.
Two years now I seemed to have got some virus or infection during allergy season. Last year I went to an urgent care and the doctor didn't really give me much of diagnosis other than giving antibiotics. I assumed the mucus from my allergies caused it.
Just a few nights ago I was having a fever where I would wake up sweating a little and then later wake up with goosebumps. I didn't go to the doctor this year because it went away pretty quick.
When it was just allergies before I've found a mix of Zyrtec, Flonase, and eye drops work. I've also gotten steroid shots for it before.
When I got the infection for a few days I took Robitussin and pseudoephedrine (which is behind the counter)
I know it's a lot of meds to take but someone decided to plant a lot of trees with pretty flowers that bloom and get blown around a while ago.
I'm 31 and this is the first year I've ever had allergies
Yes, very bad. Can barely breathe, think it's exasperating my asthma.
This year has been more difficult than previous years for me - my nasal congestion, post-nasal drip, and shortness of breath in the past two weeks have really sucked. I hope the weather stabilizes a bit!
horrible. for me, asthma is even worse. it sucks.
Same here. My asthma has been terrible. Steroid shot, breathing treatment, prednisone, singulair and Claritin from the doctor at the beginning of February and did better for awhile, now it's getting bad again. It totally sucks!
Beyond allergies, there's a nasty virus going around. Half my office was out for over a week with covid symptoms (but no one was positive). Three weeks later, I'm still struggling to remember things and have a nasty cough.
I was out all of last week with some really bad dry coughs. Lost my voice to it too. They finally went away after taking some meds from the doc and my voice is starting to come back.
What meds did they give you?
I was on Benzonatate, Prednisone, and Promethazine. It would easily knock me out after taking them. Before seeing the doctor I was taking Robitussin DM which the doctor said was the right choice for over the counter but it just wasn’t enough for me. I was using that for like 4 days then when nothing improved, saw the doc Thursday 3/28 and was noticeably improved after 4 days with the meds. So definitely check the doctor first instead of using over the counter.
For me it started the last four days. My nocturnal asthma is back with a vengeance. If I wake up in the middle of the night, I have to puff my inhaler otherwise I can't go back to sleep because I can't breathe. It is particularly bad this spring.
Oof that’s rough, hope things get better soon
There are more flowering plants/trees after winters with more rain and especially after two years of it.
Yes. I'm ethnic Cambodian, and my face would turn red during an allergy attack right now during pollen season along with endless sneezing and tearing up. The days after, the skin would begin peeling off in some areas around my face. I have to take Loratadine (Claratin) everyday. When my Grandfather, and father were alive, they had the exact same symptoms too,
It’s so tough, especially for the prior generations that didn’t have access to medicine. Even with medicine it’s really bad, so they must have suffered a lot
I’m not sure if this helps everyone, but local honey is supposed to ease allergies. Hope this helps!
I got hit like a truck this week. My nose and my throat has been killing me
100%. First year I got hives 🥲
Dang thats rough. I’m having trouble sleeping bc my nose keeps running all night. And I usually don’t get a cough, but I had one a few days already. There’s no end in sight either
I am getting DESTROYED
