Looks handfabricated from wire, not cast. Can't tell for sure without seeing the whole ring, but the parts on the sides also look kinda sloppily soldered on.

Gold is more durable than silver, not the other way round. You're right that all precious metal will get marks and scarstches over time, regardless of the thickness, but thicker and wider rings are less likely to bend and break

He's giving you a really good deal, and you're asking the internet if he is scamming you? He seems to be your friend, but are you his?

Is it very important that it's pure? Only the element platinum and nothing else? Because most platinum used in jewellery is alloyed with about 5% irridium, ruthenium or cobalt.
And to answer your question, in my experience platinum isn't usually rhodium plsted, and I consider that a bit weird to do. Platinum is already a lovely colour, it doesn't need the bright white rhodium to look good.

What kind of workouts? I would reccomend not wearing it if you use machines, or climb, just because it can get dangerous if it gets caught. And when weightlifting, the steel weights are harder than the gold and will damage it, especially thinks like a deadlift bar with typical crosshatch markings where you hold it. Other kinds of workouts that doesn't involve the ring directly touching heavy or hard things should be fine though.

A maker that doesn't resize their own work sounds odd. Are you sure he meant that, or just that he doesn't do resizings in general if he thought you asked about a ring he didn't make? I would ask again to be sure, and as you say ask him for a suggestion of where to go. Definitely don't let another jeweller resize it with gold. Soldering on palladium is tricky, you need someone who knows what they're doing, or can laser weld it.

Yes, I agree. The description sounds like it could be lab alexandrite, but the photo looks very much like mystic topaz.

I think it looks like neither are set, the stones are resting loosely on and in the settings, probably to show how it would look with the stones they've chosen, before actually setting the one they go with.

It's accumulative, so while a few times isn't going to cause noticable issues, it does cause microscopic damage every time, and over time it adds up. It's a good idea to avoid cholrine exposure as best you can, if you want a ring to last a lifetime and possibly become an heirloom. The damage isn't really visible untill it's too late, and will start to present as prongs breaking too easily, solder joints cracking etc.

I am! Specifically a baked dish with potatoes, smoked cod, onion, bell pepper, and a creamy sauce. It's pretty nice, but not very traditional. We eat oven baked salmon or cod, with boiled potatoes, carrots and other veggies, with a simple butter&cream sauce probably like once a week. Other dishes my family often make includes pasta bolognaise, lasagna, pizza, tacos, biryani, pho, kjøttkaker, fishsticks and fries, hamburgers, salads, soups, laupskaus, and when I have the time to make them: samosas. Most people make a variety of traditional Norwegian "husmannskost" and more modern and international dishes.

Not at all, my comment was meant jokingly, no offense taken! I think the downvotes are from people who probably found the question silly.

Me looking at this thread while I am eating fish and potatoes: 👁️👄👁️

I don't think we read the same book

I hope it's not inappropriate to suggest myself, but I'm a goldsmith who does custom design, and I absoluty love Dtudio Ghibli. I have painted a Totoro on the wall of my daughters bedroom, and recently cosplayed Howl (there's a photo on my reddit profile). My style in rings is usually nature inspired, with ethically sourced gems and recycled gold. I would adore making a ring set based onHaku and Chihiro, if you like my style. I'm Miriel Design on social media if you want to take a look.

There are few local jewellers sitting around with this skill level, and if there are, it's hardly going to be cheaper.

It seems like a weird retelling of the Orpheus and Eurydice myth, but in a way that doesn't make sense in the context of a beach.

This is a labradorite, I have some just like it. Do you want to personally make something with it? If not, you could take it to a local jewellery store and ask if they do custom work and can make a bezel set pendant for you with it.

Please wear a helmet! Your brain is precious, and even a small fall can be disastrous without a helmet on. If you absolutely must listen to music, maybe have one earbud in, so you can wear a helmet, and can hear the traffic?

Boil some nice, small, potatoes (not the mealy kind that gets mushy, but the tasty kind that holds it's shape), let them cool and cut them into bite sized pieces, not too small. Cut up an apple or two in slightly smaller pieces. It has to be a very crispy, fresh tasting apple, not crumbly or mealy, and not bland. Add pine nuts, chopped red onion and spring onion, lots of fresh minced garlic, and some full fat sour cream mixed with a little bit of mayo. Just enough to coat everything well, it's not supposed to be soupy at all. Use whatever seasonings you like, I often use fresh herbs like thyme, basil and chives, and of course salt and pepper, and sometimes a few spoons of dijon mustard, and some finely chopped pickles if I have them. Freshly squeezed lemon juice to taste.
I never follow a set recipe, just use what I have! Adding diced radishes is also lovely!
I don't know if this is different from American potatosalad, but it's common to do it like this here in Norway.

Raisins nah, but a bit of really crispy apple is delicious in potato salad, together with pine nuts and spring onions.

That sounds probable! If you suspect MS, you could talk to your doctor about getting checked for it so it can be ruled out, if your symptoms look like they might align with that diagnosis.
