Okay, do Hermione never cast “the memory charm.” Don’t necessarily agree with the syntax, but I’m not the author.

Harry’s birthday is July 31, 1980. Meaning his first year at Hogwarts would’ve been in 1991. I think they changed the date just to be relevant to a modern audience.

That’s… exactly what I said. Obliviate erases memories, which Hermione has never done. What I asked was “would a charm/spell that alters memories not be a memory charm?” Hermione was essentially saying that she had never erased memories before.

I thought Acnologia’s full transformation was due in part to Zeref’s magical influence? Wasn’t that why Hisui and the knight commander were going to the Eclipse gate? To go back and kill Zeref before he becomes immortal in order to prevent Acnologia?

Would that not be a memory charm? Granted not “Obliviate,” as that erases memories. That could be what she was referring to. She can alter memories, but she never fully erased any.

The movie made two major changes in regard to Harry vs Quriel.

1: The protection spell only takes effect when Harry touches Quirel in the movie. In the book, it happens when Quirel touches Harry, and only after Voldemort attaches himself to Quirel.

2: The spell turns whatever body part Harry touches to stone, which then crumbles to dust. In the book, it only causes painful burns and blisters. Quirel runs away in pain after Harry passes out, and Voldemort decides to drain his life and escape since Dumbledore and the teachers were coming.

These two changes make it so that Harry, at 11 years old, kills a man in the movie. This change is what makes the plot hole of the Thestrals.

They’re not exactly opposites. They’re different people entirely. Fairy Tail being opposites was just a gag. Gajeel was more or less the same, as was Nichiya.
