Wheatley was the best, haha just because they messed up his storyline in the second season doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate what he brought to the show.

Yes, in addition to underscoring what everyone is facing at that point I think it’s supposed to make what Ray does to Robbins’s character a bit more palatable. Plus it shows the evolution of “I didn’t know you were allergic to peanut butter, I was that shitty of a dad” to “I am going to protect you at all costs, and will kill someone if need be.”

Big Black Guy and Even Bigger Black Guy in Trading Places.

I also think Tom Cruise should be included in the list and would argue he actually has more range than some of the actors who are routinely cited as “best.” I can’t think of many stars who have reached his level of fame that can move between drama, comedy, action, and sci-fi as seamlessly as he has throughout his career. Not to mention he’s still doing insane stunts that people half his age wouldn’t even attempt, because entertainment 😅

Action movies are tough on their own, but Cruise has always been able to bring that human element while simultaneously juggling the physical demands of whatever character he’s playing.

M:I3 is my personal favorite and I’m prepared to defend it, lol!

I hope if they do go past 8, they switch things up again with a new director since it’s now been four in a row with McQ. He’s done a great job, but it’s fun to see the different takes.

I love Tom Cruise’s face when Davian is talking about Lindsey, the rage and grief is so palpable you just know he’s about to explode. PSH deserves all the attention for his performance in M:I3, but they both killed it in this movie.

I wish I could see Collateral in the theater again just for the office building scene towards the end.

I remember him complaining that the private jet that ferried him between Los Angeles and Colorado for the trial wasn’t nice enough. Dude was entitled about everything.

Not necessarily the funniest but just my funniest memory, during The Uninvited when one of the ghosts or whatever was crawling through the house, this guy up front was just like, “Oh, shit! Oh, shit!” I can still hear him 🤣

He appeared in one movie after another for decades and always delivered. Even in minor roles like the pyromaniac in Backdraft

We had that taped off of TV, and I used to watch his scenes back all the time!

I still have to catch up on some of his earlier work, but Sutherland has always been one of my favorite actors. Such a great voice, and a really unique presence overall.

  • A Muppet Takes Manhattan
  • Meet Dad

I went to see About Schmidt and Phone Booth while studying abroad in Ireland, loved them both.

This review of Top Gun: Maverick on Letterboxd is my favorite!

During the screening of TOP GUN: MAVERICK, a man in his fifties yelled out in what sounded like a fit of pure ecstasy during one of the aerial stunts. He sounded like he was being raptured.

I cannot wait for the dads of the world to experience this movie this summer.

haha, I mean I’m sure it wasn’t easy, but his issues with Interview were definitely lame, if not foreseeable. ‘I hate working in the dark, why is everything in the dark?’ Like you’re making a vampire movie, my guy.

It’s funny to watch Pitt’s performance once you learn he was actually miserable during the shoot and tried to buy his way out, compared to Cruise who did a lot of research/character prep for Lestat and was living his best life 😂

Pitt has also said he gave Edward Zwick a hard time while filming Legends of the Fall, which surprised me. Maybe he was just going through it back then.

I only saw it for the first time last summer, but I went back and watched a lot of the interviews from that time. Emily Blunt’s impression of Tom Cruise when he was trying to stay positive and finally admitted “it’s a challenge” is hilarious 😅 They both did such a great job in this movie!

Oh yeah, pretty much everyone around me was crying or trying not to in the theater I was in (myself included, lol).

haha! Yeah, there are a few other potential plot holes I’ve wondered about myself. Overall I still thought the script was great, I enjoyed the various twists and really liked the motifs that appeared throughout like the Horatius poem, Christina’s World, etc.

You’ve been smooching with everybody!

Not an obscure choice, but I totally missed Oblivion (2013) when it first came out and finally watched it last summer. I went in expecting nothing and was surprised at how much I loved it. A lot of people compare it to another film I won’t name for spoilers, but having gone into both movies blind, I actually prefer Oblivion because it’s poignant for similar reasons but more hopeful and not as bleak. The music and cinematography are both top-notch; my only regret is not experiencing it on the big screen at the time.
