That’s fucking amazing. I love this whole house. I’d just spend all my time walking around looking at everything. Like living in a kaleidoscope.
🤮
Oh that’s fair! I have awful taste!
Nah I love it too haha 😂
Only for maximalists.
Buckingham Palace on a beer-can budget.
However the looped, Lord and Lady's dining chairs are very interesting.
omg nooo not the spotlights on it too lmao
I bet it looks creepy as heck at night for people unprepared! 🤣
stonks on Truffle Street going way up
This is in my area! I drive by it all the time. So weird.
Does the pig statue freak you out at night? I feel like there should be either a secondary sub or tag for Zillowgonewild celebrities that we find here and that pig statue is one. Also that guy who forgot an Island house project in a currently trending house, his life sounded amazing.
It doesn’t freak me out. I think it’s cute/amusing. I tracked down an article about the house/owner and confirmed—they collect pigs!
Wow! That's fun! Thank you.
The view from the limestone terrace is the calmest thing about this house :)
Scrolling through the comments I stopped at this picture. I stopped because I thought, “I want to see that house. That is pretty.” I hate this house so much except for that terrace. I am uncomfortable, even at the most remote thought of having to stay in it for one night.
I bet about having to walk from my bedroom to the kitchen too many times when I’m cleaning the house up. And that’s at the most 20 feet.
If people are considering this maximalist, you'd have a siezure in a very maximalist house. https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/17405-Hawks-View-Ct-Edmond-OK-73012/69164911_zpid/?utm_source=zillowgonewild&utm_medium=zillowgonewild&utm_campaign=zillowgonewild&fbclid=IwAR1Bfp1CnTJq52NqGGj4iHtU6_1zirpazokFKoJOPGQ13xnMAzQmre0jnIo
I consider both maximalism. OP's post is themed maximalism (Italian villa), this is eclectic maximalism. I have been in a few "nice" maximalist B&B's, and none of them had ridiculous clashing decor, just lots of decor, furniture, plants, etc.
MANY drugs were done here.
ALL the drugs
Oklahoma?! I would have guessed Florida.
Right? I thought, wow, this house has a lot of white walls for being a "maximalist" home.
Gaaaahhh! My eyes!
Wooooahhh nelly.... mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord
I had to take a Pepcid just to get through the pics. Yikes.
They only thing I'd do is add a bomb ass pool and hot tub to the backyard!!! I ❤️ it so much!
I love the inside, but the back roofline is a horror show.
This just gave me a panic attack
I love this.
Not my personal taste but I love it.
I love the GIANT mirrors. I want one now.
Ok, so where did the mountains come from on pictures 6, 7 & 8? When you go to map it that part of the world looks pretty flat for a few hundred miles in any direction....
Picture 1 answers this - McMansion rooflines all over

Except you will be in Alabama...
it is just outside birmingham so if you had to be in AL that would be the only place you'd really want to go
They were going for Paris…. Texas.
Or Paris Tennessee, Arkansas, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Iowa, Michigan, Maine, Missouri, Mississippi, New York, New Hampshire, Paris in Stark Co Ohio or Paris in Portage Co Ohio, Oregon, Virginia, or Wisconsin.
Wow you Americans really like to name your towns Paris, huh?
Like I'm old enough to have named them that, lol.
Alabama is not where I expected this to be
the price is amazing omg ??
ah, not maximalist by a long shot. a true maximalist would have the ceiling painted in a variety of colors. with the actual plaster design finished out in gold leaf.
source; had a friend who married rich and did this to their new owners suite ceilings. 🙄
It's very nice for the price. Too bad that's because it's in Alabama.
The fuck? Diverse population??? I’ve lived in Alabama for a year- what drugs are you on? Also what part AL is huge. Even still it does not compare at all in diversity to so so so many states.
I don't think this is maximalism. This is just your standard rich people house.
It’s looks like Rococo mix in with some classical design.
Tbh I think in modern terms minimalist = less stuff and maximalist = more stuff. Most minimalist style I see are actually contemporary.
Rococo era *is* maximalist. If you look at houses from that era there is tons of furniture, decor, pots, etc. Modern maximalism has a tendency towards being eclectic, but there is no rule that maximalism has to be eclectic or that minimalism has to stick to a theme (e.g. Feng Shui)
Sort of what I was saying. That Maximalist and Minimalist are often used really closer to an adjective than a proper noun in many media like in OPs title. So Rococo would Maximalist because Rococo uses many elements that would make it maximalist.
I have an art background and it’s been a looong time for sure but IIRC minimalism and maximalism were taught with historical context and meaning. Same with Rococo and Baroque styles. Rococo involved a lot of classical styles, pastel colors. Maximalism as I’ve seen it used tend to be bold colors, strong contrasts.
Rococo showed your connection to an elegant (but imaginary) past while maximalism as I’ve seen today focuses on individual experience and identity.
Which is why I commented under the other reply. This is what we think an old rich person house looks like which what the builders probably were aiming for - this is what old rich houses looked like.
I agree with everything you said. Also all the moldings and the cherubs in the ceiling painting, definitely Rococo. More whimsical, romantic than baroque(one of my favorite are periods).
Rococo screamed extravagance! Gaudiness! And all that.
Maximalism seems to be along the lines of these are MY things and they mean a lot to me or define me or define my experiences.
And visual busyness, at least from my POV, does not equate to maximalism.
I went to art school too, so I was using the term in that sense - not in the sense of the modern eclectic oversized style meaning. I never reflected on that it might be confusing but I can see it could be now.
Oh don’t worry! I’m just trying to be your snooty art school graduate lol. I just see minimalist and maximalist thrown around reddit and just wanted to point out stuff.
When people say "minimalist" when they mean MCM, and then MCM when they mean the seventies, I actually break out in hives. 😉 True story.
honestly this ain’t even a rich person house.
not that long ago people were pulling sub 3 interest rates. I bet any household without kids making $200k total could comfortably afford that price
That’s rich people. 😂
brother my household makes $200k and we are not rich lol.
comfortable but definitely not even close to rich. and that’s only because we don’t have kids
Then that’s on you and your choices. But $200k is, in fact, “rich”. If you chose to throw money away so you have less, then make better choices.
My family and I live on one $85k income (2 adults, 1 teen, 1 baby, 2 cats, 4 large dogs on several acres with a mortgage and cat payment). If we had an extra $115k/year, we would for sure be rich.
You should really pay off the cat.
Bahahha. I don’t know, he’s a bit of an asshole. He’d probably have some kind of early payoff penalty.
Why, has he been making threats?
"Nice curtains ya got here. Be a shame if anything happened to 'em. "
😄 protection racket cat had me laughing until I coughed, oh thank you!
your statement is only true for someone living in bumfuck arkansas.
which i guess means $200k to you is rich, but in my neck of the woods that’s firmly middle class
Then that is on your choice to remain in that area. This may sound crazy, but there are areas. Many, many areas where that’s a lot of money.
yeah I could go live in the middle of nowhere away from family, friends and career huh.
what kinda whack ass sentiment is that
I’ll bet that’s not the only answer. 😑
In Alabama, a $200k household income puts you in the 93rd percentile. Not obscenely rich, but rich nonetheless.
As someone who loves the Rococo architectural style and interior design, I love this!
This really is an amazing Italianate. Except that kitchen. Ew.
I want to like this, but I’m confused how they were able to make such ornate design look so cheap
I think its the grayish/blue tint of the white paint.
I think too it’s the fact they tried to make the ornate parts look hand crafted, but if you look closer they’re nothing like old Victorian homes. It reminds me of when people put hot glue on something then paint over it to mimic carvings
I'll take a guess that originally there was gold gilt and wood all over the place and most of it has been painted over with a few of the original pictures left. All the extra trim and detail work just painted the same as the walls when some of it should have been removed to tone things down a bit.
I love the outside and many of the details inside but good gracious, most of it is just... ALOT.
That's not a house, that's a damn French chateau
I’d live here
The thing that really stood out to me, in the middle of everything, was the 'bullet' trash can in the kitchen.
The stark non-swirlyness of it all!
I love it.
Same
This is pure joy
I don't see a single robot that transforms into an animal.
Not my taste. But can appreciate the craftsmanship. My kids would fuck that house up quick.
It's not terrible but wtf are those kitchen drapes.
Agree - every single one of those window treatments are hideous. They probably paid out the ass for those custom bullshit draperies on top of the ugly, too.
It is making me nervous because it's right next to the damn stove 🥺
Ha! They don't cook in there, guaranteed.
Some of it is fun and playful. The kitchen would give me nightmares.
I think the whole house would give me anxiety. Way too busy for my taste.
Yes but most of the busy stuff is the furniture and curtains etc. which is assumed will be gone when you buy it. It’s way too much white for me. Needs a lot of earth tones added
I hate all the ornate details on the ceiling and walls too
I’m sure the house is staged, but it aggravates me to no end to see a piano and no music books on or near it.
For what it’s worth, I took 14 years of lessons as a kid and still play quite regularly as an adult
The outside spaces are just amazing. Love the waterfall wall.
only problem is that you can't use it for many months out of the year due to heat, humidity, and mosquitoes.
Perfect for someone who wishes they were in Versailles.
Those kitchen curtains are ghastly!
No pool in Alabama???
Actually where this is in Birmingham, we don’t have a lot of in-ground pools because the soil is really rocky.
[Vizzini has just toured the house with a real estate agent] Vizzini: Another fresco! Tasteful! Inigo Montoya: You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Honestly, I just wish they would paint the walls and ceilings not white. If they had committed to the rococo aesthetic and painted the walls light blue or whatever, everything else wouldn't look so stark and garish
That plasterwork on the ceiling is so nicely done, that’s a bitch to do on a curved ceiling
It’s glorious!!!
Not a fan of the fat babies but the wood work, architecture, and wrought iron staircase are GORGEOUS. Is buy this house in a heartbeat, all of its issues can be easily fixed with some coats of paint and curtains coming down.
Also—pig needs MORE lighting. I’m envisioning ugly light up Christmas sweaters and thematic LED string lighting for every holiday big and small. Fuck a porch goose, I’m going ✨BRONZE PIG✨
wow! i went to an estate sale @ this house last weekend. the former owner hosted the sale herself, rather than hiring a company. she was incredibly nice and took great pride in explaining that she was a dancer and involved in theater. she named the house rococo due to the elaborate trim, molding and murals. apparently a few artist + people involved in the theater lived there in the 80s and the artists painted the murals at that time.
she directed me towards the stunning baby grand in the living space and asked if i knew anyone in the market. i didn’t and don’t play myself. she went on to say that she doesn’t play piano either but liked having it in the living room, lol.
she finally sold the house after it sat for well over a year, if not more? i live right down the street and i feel like i’ve seen a for sale sign in the yard forever. told her i hoped the new owners don’t change a thing!
so funny to see this here after i just walked through it last weekend.
I think that's her dancing in the pink room with a sink and photos. I couldn't quite figure out if that was a cocktail niche area or what, but there is a blond dancer in one of the photos.
It's like a pretend Versailles! I absolutely love it!
If it comes with a maid to dust it, I’m in
This is like the home set of a crazy old rich lady in a Stanley Kubrick movie
Love it except for the fact that it’s in Alabama
We gotta get those mussolini drapes out of the kitchen asap, but the rest is fixable with better styling.
wow mussolini drapes is actually so accurate
I kinda like it😊
I looked at the wrong one at first, I like this one, but there are rooms that don’t look like they are in the same house🤪
What is that random messy room?
I would love living there, to a point. Being a retired general contractor, I’m the guy that has to fix everything so I would pass on this. Maintenance must be always ongoing. 😂😂😂
A bit over done.
I like it but that stair rail is a little too plain.
Gimme. Gimmmmmmeee gimme gimme giiiiiiiiiiiiiiime. Pweeeeease?
Rocuckoo😀
That’s Formica countertops in the kitchen right?
This place so fancy my pinky would hurt
I love the house overall. But the window treatments in the kitchen are hideous and would have to go!
God in Heaven I hate rococo. Is it true rococo? Obviously not it’d have to be centuries old? Does that make it any better? No.
I love all of it.
Persians or Sicilians
How wonderfully ornate! I could do so much with this, but AL is one of my no goes.
Dear god I want this house
A scraper and an endless supply of trash bags
I love this!
The plaster molding is beautiful, and I'm convinced it should not have all been painted blank white.
Whyyy can’t we have things like this where i live
I could live there!
Laughing at the super ornate table/vanity in the bathroom with the very exposed drain pipe.
Omg. No. No. No.
Amadeus Amadeus…….Rock me Amadeus 🎼
It looks like some nouveau riche trailer trash vomited every 'architectural detail' they could think of all over the walls and ceiling, before decorating with the tackiest furniture and fixtures they could find.
strip the fabric and clear it out—it’s still lovely and fancy
Wtf is this bedroom layout?
Is this the “Cottage Core”??
No, cottagecore is more witch in the woods mixed with Anne of Green Gables
Wow, chopped the price a half a million from first listing.
1920 build, still has a lot of charm and hasn't been stripped of it's original era? I like it.
Those photos set my brain on fire. The most anxiety inducing home I’ve ever seen.
Too Fun! It would be a great party house.
Oooh shuffle board! It’s the most positive thing I can say…
This honestly looks really nice to me and I want it....what does that mean about me?? 😅😅😅
If you've ever wanted to live in an Italian museum, this is the house for you.
Love it. My only concern is the vines growing on the house. It is a nice aesthetic, but I worry about damage to the house in the long run.
The house looks fairly normal from the outside but when you get inside OMG.

Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.
$$ >> taste
That one bathroom with the mirrored wall is pretty but, if it’s attached to a bedroom, the sink doesn’t seem very useful. There’s nowhere to out your stuff…toothpaste, hairbrush, styling products, lotion….
I'm bummed out that the master bedroom looked so bland after all of the beautiful details adorning the home from floor to ceiling elsewhere... It's pretty unique for its size and price. A true zgw.
Egad!
The exterior is amazing. The interior is too much....
All that money spent on elaborate window treatments and gilt-framed paintings, and in one of the bedrooms they sloppily hang a giant tapestry by two nails, like a first-year dorm room?
Sorry. Kitchen appliances don’t match. I’ll pass.
Bunch of ornamental dingbats
I will never understand the too-long tablecloth with another tablecloth on top. Also draperies draped on draperies.
The outside is amazing. But... needs a decorator. Those curtains in the kitchen are.....a choice.
I mean from the pics this isn’t maximalist
Ugly
I don’t see maximalism, I just see bold decor choices

Hell yes
Incongruous drum circle setup. Let's jam something from Mozart's Magic Flute.
The only thing that comes to my mind is the word pretentious
I'd have to hire a maid just to dust all those walls.
That's what I was thinking! The last thing that a house needs is more dust-catching features just for the heck of it.
I think I lost count but at least 12 chandeliers??
My Mom had ONE over the dining room table and it was a major pain to clean.
Spray 1:3 ratio of white vinegar to water on them, let drip-dry onto a pile of newspapers on a plastic tarp on the table. Done!
She made us take all the crystals off, wash and dry them by hand and put them back. We had to do it about 3 times a year. She was a fussy housekeeper.
Oh, man. I was a lazy housekeeper. Found the shortcut after my first clean, doing exactly what you described. That was a royal pain. ;)
I’m hyperventilating, so uncomfortable
Vulgar
Yikes
Hate it but fuck if there isn’t a lot of good bones and filigree to work with.
For ppl who love fixing stuff - get this house: big enough for you to simply start over when you get to the bottom of the list of things needing fixing
Wow. Completely unnecessary.
Bwahaha! Walking around on street view there is a bronze pig "tastefully" lit up down the street.
