Yeah that difference was really stark. Hope he's healthy.
He's been exercising and training, he's doing great.
Is this some reference Im not getting?
No, I googled him.
He looked like he was exercising in earlier seasons too to put it mildly. Hope he isnt sick
His skin makes him like sick. Paler than before, loose on his face.
He used to have a beard before. He no longer has it. The face underneath is the same.
Honestly, I think he went off the juice and started dieting.
Nah, he's healthier than ever. Looking great.
Hopefully it's part of
Is that the thing
Would they have kept that if he's not a supe?
Yeah that's what I was thinking, it wouldn't really fit with the direction they've gone in, I agree, but potentially an explanation?
I don't know. Quick googling suggested the man just shaved, and this is what he always looked like.
It's a huge amount of work keeping up his old physique, dude's 50 now, he probably just wants a rest.
Having been big (muscular) and then getting older, not only is it difficult to maintain but I just don't value it either. My joints hurt, I was big but not necessarily healthy. Happy to now be doing some calisthenics, walking/running, and a ton of stretching. Wouldn't shock me if he's at that stage.
Gear, it took a large amount of steroids.
Gear + constantly working out (with full days of filming) + eating an enormous amount of calories per day. That's work. It's extremely unhealthy but you can't say it's not hard work maintaining the kind of physique he had.
Never said it didn't take hard work. But he literally cannot have looked like he used to without steroids. So which is the more important ingredient, the hard work or the one thing that actually made it possible?
but he literally could not have looked like he used to without steroids.
Am I missing something, I looked at a few pictures of him and that looks totally attainable naturally. Did he used to be much bigger?
You can't look that way without any of those ingredients. If he didn't eat as many calories he would not have that huge bulky body. If he didn't work out multiple hours a day he wouldn't have that huge bulky body. Same for the gear. Considering he needed all of the ingredients to look that way that they are all equally as important, as he couldn't look like that without any of them.
What a difference a beard and 100 pounds makes
It doesnt even look like the same person. It looks like Ozempic face.
He looked better beefier
The Boys Season 4, where CompoundV is dethroned by an even stronger drug: Ozempic.
Yeesh
Mothers drug of choice
"You're all fucking welcome..." ;)
Karl Urban needs to be in more stuff
Yeah, like Dredd 2.
Make judge dredd an hbo series, starring karl urban. Follow the comic stories. I would be so happy.
And a real john constantine series. NBC did one excellent season and then canceled it :(
Or just make it a season long spectacle with tons of backstory.
As long as Garland writes it again
How this hasn’t happened yet is beyond my understanding.
I agree 100% but I think he's near the point of aging out of it :(
Isn’t he gonna be Johnny Cage in the next mortal kombat
Yup
Doom 2 incoming
no one from gen v ?
Before the Ashely and Ashley line at around before a minute you see Sam and Cate from Gen V
Chance Perdomo, The actor who played Andre Anderson passed away after a single vehicle motorcycle accident. Love gen v I wonder how they’re going to work around that, he character was a big part of the plot
shit, that's awful.
They were set to begin filming around now, but delayed it until later in summer to rework things
I doubt it's "done" even if one of their actors passed away. You don't cancel a project with hundreds of cast and crew because one actors leaves or dies, even if they're a central character.
From what I've read, it's been delayed indefinitely so the cast can grieve and producers/writers can figure out how to proceed - recasting or rewriting the second season. Giving a deadline in a situation like this would be counter-productive.
I don't read that as them being "done", I read it as "we'll be back, but we don't know when - for obvious reasons".
nice. i really hope they are not sidelined, i really like those characters and Gen V in general, way more than i expected i would
Everyone looks a little weird
I know Erin Moriarty (Starlight) got some heavy work done to her face. The result seems covered by a ton of makeup too, so it just looks.. a little uncanny?
Edit: There was some photoshopped pics floating around. She might have had some surgery, but some of the features seems to be from weight loss. I'm still not convinced she had zero work done - if compared to Emilia Clarke for example, who also did a weight loss journey, Emilia didn't lose her nose shape at all for example.
season 1 starlight and season 3 starlight are two vastly different people. season 1&2 she’s bad- season 3 she’s a different creature
Holy shit was she trying to look like walmart Kristen Bell? BDD is such a fucking bullshit illness.
I dunno. I think frenchie, Mariko, butcher, hughie, homelander, etc all look pretty much the same.
It's probably been 5-6 years since the first season was filmed, they might just look different due to time.
Yeah, Even the writers!
Did they change writers or some thing?
Cannibalistic sheep seems to have been the break point.
Except for karl urban
He looks a lot older in this than season 3 honestly. Everyone looks older, wondering if that’s part of the plot in anyway
I assume it's a byproduct of people aging and long times in-between seasons. I don't see how a timejump could work in the story.
The Boys 4: Rise of Ozempic and buccel fat removal
the only one that doesn't look the same is mm
Premieres June 13, 2024.
Oh, sweet!
I thought black noir got obliterated last season, or am I mistaken.
Somehow black noir has returned.
Eric Kripke confirmed two years ago that ,
This time he's more silenter
If you read the comics it becomes clear why….probably
Once you go Black, you come back
Superpowered domestic animals. I like it.
The guy splattering on the building is giving me early South Park flashbacks.
Watching Starlight after having had work done is so distracting... I normally don't mind but it really does look incredibly noticeable
The fuck is up with famous people wanting to look like a desiccated corpse?
Money, insecurities and self indulgence
Also massive societal pressure on women to 'beautify' themselves/remove imperfections, especially in Hollywood.
I feel like it's kind of like being in a character customizer for too long in a video game, and you change the proportions.
"Short arms, gotta make them longer", "Round face, let's add some definition", "It's fantasy, let me get rid of the fat and add some tone", Their head looks too small for their body, I'll make it a bit bigger"
Then, after 30 minutes, you are left with a weird narrow waist, bug-eyed, skinny but shredded character with a boxy face, a sharp jawline, and arms hanging like a chimpanzee.
It looked fine because you were "Looking in the mirror" for too long, and your point of reference was your own mind, but now that you can compare yourself to others, you stick out like a sore thumb. Except in real life, you can't go back to the character customizer so easily.
Reminds me of all the rich people in the Hunger Games books and how they fuck their bodies up.
Dolly Parton talked about it in an interview i heard once. She said even if you have the best guy, who's done the best work, there's a chance you are going to fuck up your face big time. I think it's just one of those things that for everyone it works for, you just don't talk about it, but then you get this sometimes.
believe it or not this is what they want. Getting a lot of buccal fat removed is a weird new fad.
It depends on what you’re doing. Co2 lasers aren’t going to do what happened to her face. Most of the time you have to want to change a lot in order to have a lot changed
She’s so young too.
In my experience of knowing a variety of different famous people, those who chase fame are often extremely insecure and desperate.
I’m not saying all famous people are, just those whose sense of self-worth is based almost solely on fame.
It's an odd life, having to act like someone else to get people to like you.
buccal fat removal does wonders to people with chubby cheeks that don't go away by losing weight.
But neither Anya Taylor-Joy nor Erin Moriarty had chubby cheeks.
Honestly, I was expecting that to be the big thing for me; yet MM looks WAY thinner and more different than his previous seasons.
She did a 'Courtney Cox' before she even turned thirty.
Her looks went from sweet and nice to artificial and odd.
Yup, she was cute in Season one, but has since been getting more and more skeletal with each passing season.
Her body, her rules. But it's really weird because her character is supposed to look cute and give a country girl vibe, it's like if Hughie gained 100 pounds in muscle between seasons and no one mentioned it.
I believe those businesses might specifically target celebs with their marketing shit and some fall for it
She also sounds like she’s slurring
Didn't even notice to be honest
It's more weight loss than surgery. She's extremely thin which has turned her face gaunt.
I know everyone points to that one picture of her as evidence of surgery but it was 99% makeup/contouring
Looks great! Very excited.
However I hope they end it this season, I don't think ever escalating stakes are sustainable (see: MCU)
Exactly my sentiment. A final season, a final escalation and you've got an all around good show, that will be rewatchable in the future.
Modern Hollywood seems to absolutely abhor the idea of finishing a show while it's still beloved, with a satisfying ending for the narrative. Instead they will continue making it until the actors get so big they each can demand a bajillion dollars and it's no longer financially sustainable, and they usually don't even bother trying to wrap up the story. It's so sad because like you said, the shows that do end on a high note are usually the ones that people love to rewatch and keep alive in the zeitgeist for a long time after.
Homelander needs to die or be de-powered for the series to grow. I'll watch this season, but I'm not super excited to go another round with him versus Butcher again. I know the kid's involved this time, but I think they made a mistake by not ending that earlier in the show.
I think de-powered would be more of a punishment than death and more interesting overall. See how he really is when he doesn't have his powers to hide behind.
Yeah, I would a love a season of him trying to go about his life without powers
Wait, you didn’t like a season where everything turned out to be the exact same at the beginning as it was in the end? Move the series forward you say?
No.
Haven't they already confirmed Season 5 filming starts soon?
Yeah I think I've heard that too. It would make sense narratively - this season is probably going to go in the direction of a total supe insurrection with Homelander on top (probably will do a lot of Trump comparisons), and season 5 would be trying to reverse that, beat Homelander and bring the world back to normal.
Agreed.
Plus I really want Homelander to fucking eat it
Exactly what I was thinking.
This looks very intense and interesting. And I want that to a crescendo and conclusion.
Agreed.
We also have Gen V, so we can still get our extra brutal supe story fix.
Thinking of GenV makes me really sad , with the actor for Andre passing away so young.
Holy hell I didn't know about that
I thought they cancelled Gen V since Chance Perdomo died?
They suspended the table read as that was set to start the week after he died, but there's no official cancellation as of yet.
Yep - great show with a great take on a stale genre, but there needs to be a reasonably concise overall story arc that gets wrapped up. Otherwise it'll just feel like it's pointlessly meandering, with like you said, ever escalating stakes, that leads to absurdity. .
Season 5 was already confirmed sooo… it’s not ending this season lol
Honestly I was trying to remember if I watched last season and from the trailer I still can't tell if I did or not.
Dragonball has entered the chat.
I feel like they could do 1 more after, have this one be a penultimate series. But yeah the story does need to start wrapping up, even if this series is just a set up for the end game.
10000 points for sneaking Cunts Are Still Running The World as music cue for this trailer
Not even bleeped
I love how Kamiko can say so much without saying a word.
Great song choice.
"C*nts are still running the world".
Dam not sure who looks more ill starlight or mothersmilk
I’ll take a wild stab in the dark and guess that this season ends with Homelander realizing no one can stop him and that he can do what he wants.
Is this show worth starting?
You'll know pretty quick if you like it or not. It's an extremely cynical and violent show that relies on shock value humor, most of the time. I think it's great, but it's also absurd and disgusting.
It’s like nothing else on TV and it’s not for the faint of heart. You have to be cool with gore, very dark humor/content, and violence.
But it’s fantastic if you’re okay with all of that.
Watch one or two episodes and you'll see if it's your type of show. If you like it, then chances are you'll like the whole show. It's good overall IMO
If you watch the first like 10 mins of episode one, you will know if you like it or not. Not trying to spoil it so I wont. My mouth was AGAPE and I was like Holy SHIT... The show hooked me with the just utter brutality and reality of what having super heros in real life would be like some times. I have loved every episode of the show though.
It's a very unique take on the super hero genre. Superhero's are basically a product in that universe, it's all about improving their image and brand. "Supes" in The Boys are like The Rock(no offence), he puts on this very clean positive vibe to the public and everything he says and posts are curated by a committee. Behind the scenes he's controlling and kind of a dick but in The boys he'd also have the ability to put his fist through a persons head and kill billions before being taken down if he felt like it.
It creates a very suspenseful show where these super hero's could just kill you in a heart beat and the show doesn't hide away from the brutal ways they can go about it.
I think episode one is a masterpiece of an episode in setting the tone and letting you know what you're in for. If you like the first episode, you'll enjoy.
My personal unsolicited word of warning: I thought season 2 was a bit of a yikes and noped out. However, upon seeing the trailer for what looked like a pretty good season 3, I revisited and pushed through. Season 3 and the full story was worth it I think, but I thought season 2 was a drop in quality. It did not feel like Amazon had a hit and pumped their money back into the show.
Best thing I ever seen
Season 1 is amazing, season 2 is okay with some issues, season 3 is great until the ending. It’s worth watching for the quality of season 1 alone imo, only episode that teaches that quality again is s3e6 imo
Laz
Is he okay?!
I had to lookup if they recast MM. I literally had no idea who he was.
Apparently lost a ton of weight and is working out a lot
source- https://comicbookclublive.com/2024/05/04/the-boys-recast-mothers-milk-laz-alonso-shaved-face/
Do I need to watch the spin off too? Or is that seperated from the main series
Two of the characters from Gen V are in this trailer, so maybe they play a larger role in The Boys than we initially thought?
You'll probably need to watch it. Two of the characters are in this trailer and a big story point from gen v is carrying over to season 4 of the boys.
I’m sure that will all be worked into the plot of season 4 in a way that still makes sense to audiences who didn’t watch Gen V. I don’t think The Boys producers want to alienate and confuse any of their audience who didn’t watch Gen V.
It was a nice change of pace while still holding thematically to the boys and that world. Last couple episodes tie nicely into season 3 as well.
Not necessarily required viewing but perhaps a nice bit of TV to indulge in before June if you're hankering for it.
It's separate. But you should watch it, it's good
Its relevant to the virus they mention in the trailer as well as the 2 characters the other person mentioned.
Wait Black Noir is back?
Probably a different guy in the same suit. it helps to cover up your casualities/murders if he never shows his face
It's presumably Sam from Gen V
Well…they might make him like in the comics…
That would save this season for sure.
Looks like a wild season again 😎
This looks like a complete and utter shit show. My body is ready for it.
I feel like The Boys has fallen into the same trap that I absolutely hate. For reasons outside of their control they waited a long time between seasons and now I'm not only no longer invested but the characters just look so different now that I can't get past it.
Every work of fiction requires time (and money) for writing, preproduction, production and post or you'll get netflix like stuff.
Also don’t forget the Hollywood strikes last year caused delays in production
Yeah I feel like everyone forgot about that. It caused massive delays on production of everything, but now that stuff is coming back everyone is like "what took you so long?". The average population has the memory of a goldfish.
Shows used to come out fall to spring and have a new season the next fall. I’ll give them a year - but two? Why?
I mean, sitcoms and medical/detective shows still work like that. These are much bigger productions more akin to full movies, which take a lot longer to produce. Add in the strike, and the timetable makes sense
Nah. Sopranos used to put out 13 episodes every year. Game of Thrones put out a season every year but the last. Lost put out 15-25 episode seasons every year.
There was a writers strike...
For four months.
I think once you're watching, that dissipates.
I’m guessing the six month long writers strike didn’t help.
Not being advertised as the "final" season, I'm going to expect a cliff hanger at the end.
Butcher is one of the best characters of recent tv. Keith Karl Urban is perfect casting.
Edit. See if you can spot my mistake...
Well, well, well, if it ain't that one cunt.
Peak is back, let's gooo!! thanks for posting, i forgot about it.
It’s me, or I feel like we’re getting a little closer towards the end
That is typically what happens in a show as it progresses
What she did to her face...and why
Billy Butcher exists in the same character space as Jack Sparrow and I can’t get over it
The way Season 3 ended is not much of an incentive to pick up this series again, and certainly not to subscribe to Prime Video. Will have to wait and see.
That was sooner than I thought.
"I can't believe this is happening to me again"
Kimiko - Again????
If negan doesn’t get to hold a bat I’m out
Question: how important is the Gen V spinoff going to be to season 4? Cause I wasn’t planning on watching it
Based on this trailer, it looks like they’ll be pretty tied together
i'd even watch it solely for the chicken scene lol
I hate how trailers are getting more and more and more spoilery.
I kept watching trailers because they weren't always this bad but the past few years things have gotten out of hand.
Deadpool Wolverine trailer was really good about not really spoiling anything. Sometimes they do a good job and other times it just gives away half the thing.
I feel like I don't even really need to watch Season 4 because of this trailer...
Guess I'm not going to watch the trailer then. Thank you for your sacrifice 🫡
yw I guess... yeah its full of spoilers, don't watch it, looks like the season will be sick though.
This show slaps unreasonably, borderline-illegally hard. They have absolutely zero chill and I'm all about it.
Very well put, WigglyWeener
Diabolical
Good show ... and gross.
So, what are the odds that Soldier Boy shows up? I don’t think we ever saw a body last season, iirc.
Maddie Phillips (cate) in there from Gen V. Did Chance Perdomo film for this then too before he passed?
Nice
Just started rewatching season 3 last night randomly and damn, almost unwatchable without going back to season 1 because it just isn’t that great to carry itself in its own. I really hope they turn it around
Yay Noir!
If they ever kill off Butcher I am done watching this show.
I stopped watching Prime when they put ads in. It's too bad because they have some good content.
It comes out June 13th for anyone who didn’t watch all the way through
We litttt
Oi, what are you looking at, cunt?
Ig Frenchy is dead?
Has Laz Alonso lost a lot of weight? And not in a good way?
