LOL yes they’re looking for a certain “aesthetic”
I didn’t know that ‘I got this done while high on meth by someone else who was also high on meth’ was an aesthetic, til
LMFAO. yeahh heavy on those quotation marks
Yeah I looked at the guy who does a lot of this dangerous "work" and the ppl he does it on seem like they might be... Yeah
Never seen a 2 ton quotation mark til today, TIL
You’ve got to get the amount of meth just right!
I thought it was "I let my toddler draw on me and the tattooist copied it."
as someone who used to be on that 10 years ago, and got some tattoos by people who were also on that, i’m lookin at these posts like “wow the horrible rose on my leg actually looks decent compared to something now” LOL!
Maybe it’s just new meth aesthetic that sucks then lmao
....in prison.
Ever done meth?
This comment legitimately made me spew out the tea I’m drinking! I’m lucky it didn’t come out of my nose too! 🤣😝 I might have to steal that description!
That would make it “I got this done while high on meth by someone else who was also high on meth, but I got the cool, stained tee shirt that says it in sharpie on the front from some random chick who sent it to me to commemorate the occasion.”
That gave me a good chuckle, thank you.
Thank you for sparing me from typing that out
I didn't know "Tattoo me while you're drunk and blindfolded" was an aesthetic.
Ahh yes the “I steal catalytic converters for meth money” aesthetic is all the rage rn.
It really frames the “backne” nice.
I was told by that I guess you're not supposed to do it on open acne or any acne. Really cuz you can cause infection so I'm kind of confused
I know it’s all the rage to shit on the younger generation, but I really cannot wait until they’re in their 40’s and have to explain this “aesthetic” to everyone they meet.
Just another kid, whose brain hasn’t fully developed yet, trying to be edgy.
They’ll get it removed. Remember when ear gauges were a thing? Taught a kid with em in highschool and he said he was seriously thinking of becoming a surgeon to repair all of the ears in a few years.
You’re probably right
I'm turning 34 this summer and still have mine, I still love them. Having said that, I definitely know plenty of people who took theirs out over the years.
Also still definitely a thing, my kid and a bunch of his friends all have stretched lobes.
What aesthetic? "My 2 year old drew this"?
I foresee a ton of coverups and laser removals. I should get into the laser removal field now
Dumb ass doodle bear generation, walking around like a 4 year old got in to a box of markers or had too many quarters at a temporary tattoo dispenser.
I can understand if it's a kids drawing that is sentimental in some way but this is just ridiculous. Reminds me of the haircut meme "what you want?" "Just fuck my shit up"
Is it a derp aesthetic?
I didn't realize melting, dripping, droopy dicks was a trend these days🤣 I know it's really about the "style" (which I honestly believe someone just fucked up once and claimed it was some new thing, because wtaf? 😂) doesn't mean this still doesn't look like what I described. Maybe the artist was a regular old drip off the old cock... Oops! I mean, chip off the old block... 😭
It’s the plushie-lovers and green-hair crowd. They’re the only ones who ask me for this shit. Ten years of tattooing realism portraiture and I’m being sent references like this with “how much?!!?!!???1111???111!!!”, and I swear to Dog it’s a carbon-copy of the same person every single time. Always GenZ. No judgement on personal style, but it’s a clear pattern I can’t ignore.
leave the plushie lovers outta this!! 😭 (I love stuffed animals they're nice •u•)
I had a weird dream the other night where the highlight of my dream house was my stuffed animal display. It was pretty awesome
I love my plushies and I would never do this! Don’t judge people like that.
I always thought the micro tattoos or the ones they do in Japan were really pretty. I’ll never glad when the trend shifts back to good ones. They have cyber-sigil that’s a trend now too that just a throw back to the tribal tattoos of the 90s and people get pissed when the artist calls em out on it. People love to make fun of old trends not realizing the current one is usually even dumber.
Primitive art?
Edit: Sorry, not trying to be performative, and I’m not talking about cave art. I think it’s also called naive art—like Daniel Johnston.
Sorry, there are some stores in West Virginia called primitive shops that sell folk art, and I think that’s why I got the term mixed up.
Even primitive art had a point and tried to depict something.
I think the OP is an attempt at wings? But like purposefully abstract.
i get the aesthetic on paper or small but this is insane
Is it like an anti-tattoo? When tattoos are so mainstream the only way to rebel is this?
what do you charge, looking at getting a lion and compass type picture on my neck. first tattoo so excited
Special price for my first customer, 200 minimum, depending on the size. I will not practice at all, wouldn't want to lose the magic.
Ahh the Meg white method!
I'm thinking someone ran out of material for a dress.
Was she a big girl? Large around the hips? “Roomy”?
“…wait! Was she a great big fat person?”
Lmfao
This is better than the one the other day where the guy was tattooing a wine stain on a shirt, onto someone's chest, through the shirt.
At that point, isn't it really more embroidery?
Have you seen the video where a guy pees on a wall and another guy gets the splatter/stream tattooed all across his chest? 🙃😭
I missed that one, what the hell!
Anyone can be an artist! My ex sucks but still makes good money. He can’t draw but he can print out a stencil and color in the lines. He insists anyone can be a tattoo artist.
Wowww
More artists are shitty than you would ever think! Look at some of the shops work on Fremont St in Las Vegas. Those shops hire absolutely anyone.
My eyes went so so wide at this post.
Yeah, unfortunately tattoo has moved on to modern art and Impressionism it seems
The "artist's" Instagram is a whole universe of WTFs.
Lol this is what I show people who are like “oh I could never be a tattoo artist, I can’t even draw a stick figure!” Good news, it’s no longer a requirement to be an artist to become a tattoo artist! Just need a machine nowadays.
It's being dubbed "Ignorant" style, and I'm not being sarcastic lol
Tattooist*, no art involved 😂😬
They're never small and subtle, that's what kills me. I wouldn't mind a little doodle like this somewhere on me, like a couple inches across on a thigh or something. That would be kind of reminiscent of "ignorant" style, where they're cute little drawings done badly on purpose. But it's the stuff like this where they do an entire back tattoo, or that guy who tattoos rashes or wine stains or whatever across people entire leg or chest, like why would you do something so bad so big?
this!! i have a roughly 1”-2” tattoo behind my ear that could technically fit into “ignorant style” tattooing. i love it so much but couldn’t continue that style for my sleeves or especially a whole back piece.
Agree. Like some tiny silly tattoo like a smoking frog with a mushroom hat or whatever. Something you can show around at a party and laugh about it.
If this person is really into tattoos they've just filled up their back with...that. I have a couple that I don't care for, but at least I had the foresight to keep them small and in areas that won't interfere with future tattoo work.
And people where saying back wings from the 90s were bad.
My brother has a set of the back wings, got them in 94. To be honest they look pretty good thirty years later.
😭 1994 was 30 years ago
Every once in a while I'm reminded I am well into middle age - thank you.
Yeah forreal!
I work with a lot of young people. I never forget. I think it keeps me young in a way.
Welcome to the club, friend!
😭😭😭
Yoooo.... wtf!?
I just got off work and opened reddit to unwind before I gear up to go to the laundromat... and this is the filth I have to see?!
1994 was literally last week. March 28, 1994, saw Pearl Jam at Bayfront Park. A whole bunch of fake tickets and more fans stuck outside led to a major riot where barriers were knocked down and thousands of people got in illegally. I was in the front row, oblivious. Only my 2nd ever show. First was Nirvana, same venue, 11/27 of the previous year.
I recently saw a teenager in a Nirvana shirt, told him nice shirt, he said thanks. Told him that was my first concert and he looked down to double check what he was wearing, confused. Pretty sure he didn't know it was a band.
Several years back I saw some teenager in a Woodstock shirt. Ive joked for years that I was invited to the original Woodstock but couldn't go because I was potty training.
Seeing somebody who wasn't even born for Woodstock '99 wearing a shirt for the original struck me as funny. I started teasing him that he couldn't possibly be old enough to have been there. Kid got really indignant, talking to him I found out he had no idea that Woodstock was a concert.
A song from the 90s came on the radio, after it was over they said playing all the classic rocks.... And then I realized.... The 90s... Are... Classic.... I'm old. 😭
I keep hearing green day nirvana and the foo fighters on my local classic rock station and it's making unreasonably angry
Dont say that shit! You're only making my grey hairs come in faster by stressin me out like that lol 😂
It was 16 years ago in my heart
My first tattoo was 34 years ago. Philly had very few shops so I had a biker guy give me a shitty tattoo. It’s on my shoulder. You can’t see it if I wear a T-shirt my father said I would never get a job.
Holy shit! That makes my first tattoo 40 years old now. I’m in my late fifties now. 💀
Still looks like new though. Only needed one touch up over the years
You shit your mouth, I was just starting to feel good about myself again!
Yeah my back instantly hurt this morning when I opened up Disney+ and the top highlight section was talking about the 30th anniversary of The Lion King.
Well that just ruined my fuckin night
I see udders. So many udders.
oh god i cant unsee it
Later they’ll draw on teats.
I could be ur angle
A drag race reference outside of the DR sub is always a lovely surprise!!
Acute or obtuse? I can't be right
CONNECT THE DOTS?!
Ha
Did a preschoolers draw those wings?
Cats more likely
I honestly have more faith in my cats than that.
Giggling like an idiot thank you 😅
How tf is this a ‘trend’?
most of the posts i’ve seen come from japanese based artists, but yeah they’re looking for a “poorly drawn aesthetic” just a fat dump on the culture as a whole
They're doing it in Taiwan now too
CONSIDER THE LOOFAH ON A STICK
First off, this person should have taken that tattoo money to a good dermatologist.
i don’t mind tattoos meant to look like shit purposely when they’re smaller and look like some thought was put into it? But this is massive and hideous
It's so funny to me, that so many people say "regerts" (myself included, I basically can't say the word correctly anymore) when in the movie it's spelled "ragrets"
It's like we're all having the same Mandela effect, where everyone saw regerts instead of ragrets 🤣
🤣 so for me it was a combination of the part in the movie and a candy bar commercial where that person got Regerts tattooed.
sorry I was eating a milky way
That’s the one!
Ahhhh maybe that's what it is. I don't remember that commercial, but I can definitely picture myself picking it up from a commercial and conflating it with that movie somewhere in my mind.
Pretty much the explanation for most mandela effects, it makes sense.
what movie is that?
There are, for want of a better definition, minimalist tattooists which look excellent. There’s a guy in Paris whose work is particularly good. But that’s based on abstract expressionism, and is presumably very expensive. This one is MS paint by a four year old. And also, presumably, very expensive. Not all tattoos are art. Not all art is good.
Agreed! Though I'm prettty sure the trend here isn't supposed to show minimalism- a type of art with as much beauty (and history!) as any other when in the right hands
This trend is to purposely make ugly, scribble drawing tattoos that seem to purposefully look shameful, I'm thinking? It's like if the dada art movement was invaded by crayon dicks. At least the original nonsense had meaning ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Also straight up makes me think what if the "Shitty Tattoos" page became an inspiration look-book
but--all art is, in fact, art...and all tattoos are tattoos.
that's about all I can say about this piece here.
I'm concerned that you are referring to this as a "trend". What is the trend? The style?
Came here to ask this too. What’s the style?
I believe it's called "ignorant" style, yes I'm being serious lol
More like 'white trash methed up' style.
Exfoliate your back before posting
With that back he could farm a shitton of karma on r/popping
All kidding aside.... this is a trend? What is the trend exactly? Lmao
If this is from a child's drawing, it's perfect.
If it is literally anything else, it's terrible.
Reminds me of ‘Off road tattooing with Henry Rollins’ off of Jackass 🤣
I’m all for performance art that is intentionally “shitty”. But why put it on you permanently?! I will never understand this.

I am an abysmal artist. Perhaps I've missed my calling.
"You paid money for this, sir? On purpose??"
I hate these kind of tattoos in general
Looks like a bunch of wilted penis-es (peni?)
penus
the ONLY way I could see this being worth it is if a child had drawn it and they had passed.
depressing storyline but I could see that being meaningful
Did a 3 year old scribble tattoo this?
Wtf "trend," is this????
Or, am I better off not knowing....?.....
This person will be asking for coverup ideas on the tattoo advice sub
Is it a nice looking tattoo?……no
But is it well done?……… also no
Please tell me that's just Pen😭
I would love to speak to this client and understand why exactly they wanted this.
Aw this guy was so proud of his 3 year olds drawing he had it tattooed on him like he’s a fridge. That’s super heartwarming.
To me, this looks like the game where people stand in a row and draw on paper on each other's backs. The back of the line draws something, and the person they are drawing on tries to mimic it on the person in front of them, and so on.
Hence the feathers in the wrong place. Either that or the tattooist is actually blind.
Someone let their toddler loose with a sharpie.
What trend is this? Scribble Getting my 6 year Olds art tattooed on me
As somebody who doesn’t know shit about tattoos, what’s this trend? It looks like they just had the gun on strings hanging from the ceiling, pressed them against some area close to the shoulder blades and dropped them.
Every time a high school dropout finds a tattoo gun, an angel gets his wings
I'm guessing these are blind contour drawings, an EXERCISE we would do in grade 10 art class. Sometimes you could come up with something interesting, this is not one of them.
How to: choose your subject matter, place your pencil tip on paper and without lifting the pencil (one continuous line) closely follow the contours of the subject. When done, take a look at the mess you've made. The exercise helps you to see how we tend to focus on details and aren't adept at judging proportions. Very humbling.
I hope to see many of you posting your masterpieces here (after buying a tattoo kit from Amazon)
What in the fuck is that
With you forever, and yet it's behind you now.
When Helen Keller is your tattoo artist….
this is just retarded.
I love this trend. The easier it is to spot the morons amongst us the better life is for us all.
WTAF???????
Microsoft paint
Okay, just playing devils advocate here, but we don't really know the story behind the ink, right? What if this was a resized/enlarged picture his child drew of angel wings and passed away?
Some tattoos are done because people just want them and think they look cool, other people get them because they have sentimental value, like an ex-coworker of mine who had the exact GPS coordinates of her grandparents house tatted on her forearm, who had recently passed away.
If I had a child who drew something like this and then died of cancer at 10 years old, I'd certainly consider getting it tattooed on me. Wouldn't you?
Valid points. Some tattoos shouldn’t be here especially ones that are screenshot from places.
oh no no no no no ..
Wings but… with mange?
WTF is that even supposed to be connect the pimples tat
What’s with all the back tits?
What in the actual unholy fuck
I honestly don’t know what am I looking at.
So will they in five years.
Like "Damn... I could have gotten an actual tattoo instead of a piece of shit."
Why? Why are people doing this? Like I get not liking a particular tattoo, but I would much prefer a stupid ladybug on a toe to this.
WTAF am I looking at?!?!?!
It’s Ramona Flowers!
I want to pop that spine pimple so fuckin bad
First time I’ve ever seen a tattoo on a pizza
so, what this tells me is that i might have a future as a tattoo artist.
Amazing! Do the same to the front
It looks like he had a toddler with a magic marker trying too learn to spell on his back!
Intentionally looks like shit. Success. Great job?
What in the MS Paint
I kinda love it as like an artistic statement. Like some weird dadaist ass tattoos. Hilarious
What is this supposed to be? A tracing of something? An outline? Is it ironic?
Either way it objectively looks horrible
Oh no… why do I kind of like this??
Found your kink
Well screw me for learning to draw.
Almost 2k likes. Social media is fucking ruining tattooing. There are real professionals struggling and these assholes are probably charging out the ass for dumb shit like this and people will pay it for reasons I don’t understand
This is my young child drawing in Ms paint.
Really compliments the bacne
another 'unartistic r/shittytattoos user normie slob' brain broken by anything thats not a traditional rose again lmao
I also hate reddit posts that leave in other app's gallery widget, making me swipe left when there's only one image
shitty chicken wings?
Omg!!! Where is this a trend??! 👀
Can we see your 👀👀👀👀👀👀
I'm so curious how much someone paid for this 🧐
nooooooooo
Bird Person
Wtf
"July booking open"
Lmao
Get this man over to the r/popping sub, please….
What the fuck? If this isn’t Lou Gehrig’s signature or something it should be illegal
Did they let their preschooler draw their tattoo?
We’re you fucked up? If so I’m curious as to what you were on also did you pick the tatto or did you owe someone money? This is an interesting one.
Trend? There's more like this? :(
Edit: I just checked out that page, never thought I could be a tattoo artist untill today.
