I asked the reverse of this question over in the pixel sub. I'm curious what keeps y'all here in the Samsung line vs other offerings.
I just upgraded from a note 8 to an s24 ultra. Such a massive upgrade overall. Paired with a galaxy watch 6, great tech.
I upgraded in Feb note 8 to s24 plus 👌
It's a big leap.. We waited too long. That being said... I got my money's worth out of that note 8.
Same! Samsung credited $200 for mine with the cracked screen, along with double the storage made me finally take the leap!
I kept my note 8. Still has broken outer screen, but works. I can strap it to my scooter as a Spotify music player so I can change songs on the go. I don't have to worry about breaking my new phone if I end up ditching my scooter for any reason.
Huge upgrade! Also, the Note 8 stopped being updated years ago.
Yea, that's planned obsolescence
Ok im convinced to do it now, ive been holding on to this 10 out of anxiety...even went up there and left....guess this is my sign
There are rooms at my job where wifi / Bluetooth lose connection. Not with the new phone. New standards make it much more functional. The health tracking is a really nice feature.
What are some things you use your pen for? I don't know enough about it to really use it yet on my S24 ultra.
I use my S-Pen for everything.
I'm someone who doesn't really like to use my fingers to type (I have short, stubby fingers, which makes typing on touchscreen keyboards a bit difficult). The S-Pen having a super fine point makes typing for me a lot easier, and it gives me the added bonus of fewer fingerprints on the screen.
I've gotten very proficient at swipe typing with my S-Pen.
There's rarely a time when I'm not using the S-Pen when using my phone.
That's awesome. It's cool to see how people use their phones in their own way.
interesting point of view
I just got the S24 Ultra from S20 Ultra. The S-pen has been one of my favorite things yet. Makes me wish I would have gotten the note, but they didn't have it at the time. I absolutely love it and use it a lot. Especially drawing and painting. I never knew how amazing it is for an art tool.
Use my spen daily for marking up blueprints.
They're just the best package for me...
I love smooth experiences with good battery life and nice cameras... and gaming isn't my priority (but still I can game nicely if I want).
Also, I don't like any other Android skin, and applying a launcher doesn't cut it and feels like a hassle.
Last google phone google stopped support way too early.
I was also fully into Pixel but my motherboard died 1 week and 1 year after I bought it and support was no help (warranty is only 1 year) even though it ended up being a widespread defect.
This happened to me a few time with various Google devices.
This was pre Pixel, the Nexus. Kind of soured me. My backup phone is now a Galaxy.
Same. Nexus devices, Stadia...
Google has a long history of making something good and then just changing their minds and abandoning it.
I was very tempted to get the pixel 8pro. I like stock android's design. But, i was using Samsung s21 ultra previously, and i finally decided to switch to s24+. Here is my reasoning :
I have the samsung ecosystem - seamless interactions between my s9U and phone. (I draw and transfer images very frequently between my devices). Galaxy buds switch very easily between tab and phone. My galaxy watch is also paired and syncs smoothly (galaxy watch will also work with pixel, but i am told that some features like ecg and blood pressure won't work, though i dont use those features)
Customization - Pixel is very rigid when it comes to Customization. Material U theming, that's it. But samsung has so many options that it keeps the experience fresh and fun throughout. I would get very bored with pixel. 3rd party launchers aren't as smooth as stock launcher since android 12. (App transitions are not good, i want the butter animations of stock launcher always). Samsungs stock launcher allows you to do a lot, change icons individually, remove icon label, grid size, etc.
Pixels don't perform well in hot climates due to heavy throttling - i live in india and i am sure pixel wouldn't be able to handle this climate. S24+ (though exynos) has been fantastic so far, with very less heating. They did improve it significantly from previous iteration.
Pixel after sales service is bad in india. They authorize 3rd party service centres to do repairs, which is often very poor. I have visited samsung service centres twice for my s21U, both times they repaired my phone within 1 hour and handed it back to me with price lesser than initial quote. Very professional.
Can't really trust google's promises of updates. They ar notorious for ditching things. Samsung is more trustworthy in general
How much sot do you get?
Around 7-7.5 hours on a full 100% charge. I do video calls for an hour a day, listen to music a lot, watch youtube and scroll reddit. Sometimes i will play a little bit dead cells. You can check here
Thats neat. How often do you use mobile data?
When I am in office (7-8 hours), i use mobile data. Both the days I shared, I was in office.
As far as I can tell, Pixel phones also do not have the best QC/longevity compared to a few other models either. I had 2 different variants of the Pixel 4a that had some pretty fatal flaws, and these flaws seemed to return in plenty of 5(a), 6(a) and 7(a) models from the many google searches that I have performed. One of my friends who owns the Pixel 6's also started recently experiencing somewhat similar issues to what I was having.
The camera is fantastic, but I just cannot trust the hardware after reading all these anecdotal experiences.
If you want top end hardware, decent > good software support, and Android Samsung is about the only game is town.
Secure folder and split screen which allows me to run two PokemonGo accounts at the same time.
is this real??????
Ah, another multiboxer! :) You can install from galaxy store as well, that's how I got 2 instances without secure folder. Maybe in can be 3 with the secure folder? Or 4?
That quit working a long time ago. I used to do it that way.
One man's bloatware is another man's treasure
some samsung apps are really good, samsung notes, wear, food, gallery and reminders just to name a few
Samsung Health. There isn't a single Health app on Android that can surpass Samsung Health
oh my word I use a galaxy watch HOW COULD I FORGET!!! samsung health is brilliant, especially when it comes to sleep tracking, can't wait for the supposed ai updates coming later this year!!
Ong bro the way it integrates the steps from the phone itself and watch making sure they dont overlap. And the way you could track ur sleep and have soo much info when u wake plus sleep coaching. Also if you never tried it go for a run with the galaxy watch and the amount of info it captures is really insane.
I even started using Samsung Internet since I updated to the S23U
The built in adblocking and ability to view almost every website in dark mode is pretty awesome.
Samsung Calendar and Clock is so much better than the basic shit Google ships with. Check out the scheduling and repetition conditions Samsung apps offers. Google apps aren't even close.
100%... i wish i tried Samsung internet years ago. ( Former chrome user )
Wait really? Is it that good? I've had a Samsung for years and have always used whatever browser I have on my computer since it syncs easier. Can I sync Samsung internet with other browsers / is it possible to get Samsung internet on a Surface Pro?
What makes it so good is the layout, ad blocker and dark mode.
I'm not sure, i only use a phone now ( no laptop or tablet ) i think you can only use Samsung Internet on Samsung devices. I might be wrong on that.
There is no other "official" option in my country. This is my first flagship, S22. Battery sucks, but I get it, the S22 sucked in general, not all Sammy's phones are the best. I love my Galaxy Watch.
Next buy? Who knows, S24FE? iPhone SE 4? Importing a Pixel 9A? Who knows. I would prefer official support so... It's either Samsung or Apple to me, let's wait it out. I'm not a power user anymore, I even keep my phone on battery saver always. One thing that I noticed is that flagships are so durable, I've dropped this phone tons of times with no problems. I went over 3 Pixel 4As because their screen broke lol
You are probably in the EU, and if i remember well, the S22 models had Exynos chips. Which drained the battery as fuck... I had an S22 Ultra, and that battery gave me PHOBIA because of the battery life omfg.
Oh yeah definetely Exynos, it's trash, and some people call people like us "snapdragon shills" lol why tf would I endorse a chip company!
Because BlackBerry went out of business.
I can't like this comment enough.
i chose it for the integration of my tablet and watch i already had and it's mind blowing how much you can do with the ecosystem and I kinda love oneui more than plain android
Ive used many other brands in past, htc, sony, nokia, xiaomi to name few, and even iphone too and for my current one I decided to give samsung a try. Im gonna buy another samsung after I get tired of my s21fe's overheating and terrible battery as I like samsungs extra features like DeX and goodluck and the good update support
Because of Samsung apps: notes, health, goodlock, clock, etc. And oh boy, the UI and software support. Hardware wise, samsung is dead with its innovative, they're just adding things we didn't ask for and removing things we liked the best.
LG stopped making phones
Free music, I can root my phone and download emulators play game boy games, PlayStation games, I can download open source apps, I can customize everything on my phone, my phone operates faster than iPhones, I don't have to worry about security breaches as much as apples, my card info kept getting out every time I called apple and had to order new cards, battery life is better. I find most apps are more compatible with Droid.
Simple. iPhone file management sucks big time 🖕🏻
I like their ecosystem, that's it (maybe too much )
I've got a Samsung oven 😐
you win
I'd rather have the watch and the buds though!
good choice, but having a Samsung oven is a win itself xD
to sum it up, it's got all the benefits of being an android phone, without any of the setbacks of being and android phone
what are some of the drawbacks, one for me is that stock android sometimes feels clunky to use
Samsung notes, Samsung browser, edge panel, Smamsing keyboard for quick clipboard copy and paste. All these seamlessly integrated, I tried on different phones installing similar apps, just not the same.
The only non chinese android phone running snapdragon.
Wish HTC, LG, Asus had better offerings. Or better yet, wish android could run on iphone hardware. 🙃
Did try a pixel once, and it was the worst move I ever made.
Which model did you have, and what were your problems with it? I just got both the pixel 7 Pro and the s23, and I'm really struggling with which one to keep
Pixel 6. Went back to my note 20 within three weeks. How Google could release a phone with some many problems is beyond me. Now have the S23U and would never trust a pixel again.
Ease of use, customization, Samsung Music, and don't want to pay for youtube or spotify
I ended up with an S23 as I'd had enough of Apples predatory business/law practices in India and China. I was disappointed with the camera quality (gcam has fixed that for the most part), and the battery life, if you're not on WiFi, seems to be awful but it's a sturdy phone that should last a good few years (hopefully) with a great screen. Samsung is well revered as a manufacturer, and after a handful of controversies, seem to have made strides towards ensuring their workforce is treated well and fairly.
Hate iOS with a burning passion (well, less hate more I dislike the style, interface and how restrictive it is no freedom of expression)
Samsung 'generally' is the most reliable android provider in my country. Pixel is hard to get and I dont like how their latest one looks (yes, I'm one of those that likes a rly minimal not flashy or flamboyant phone that I can hold in one hand hence I never go ultra despite it being well within my disposable income)
I hate Samsung's camera tho, the one thing I'll admit I love about Apple is their cameras and image processing. Their colors look way softer and even if it isnt always natural I still prefer it to the tendency towards oversaturation on Samsung phones
The only reason it's cheap. 700 for s24+ 512gb at launch is steal.
note series. I actually use the stylus
1) google pixel does not have official support here - getting 5g to work with it can be problematic 2) AFAIK, flagship galaxy phones are not made in China. Now, I don't hate China, but I don't like the fact that they have a de-facto monopoly on making smartphones. (Please don't tell me that Samsung also moved their production to China) 3) By now, I'm used to OneUI 4) I consider the Samsung brand a guarantee of quality 5) 7 year Software support
I believe Samsung's currently manufacturing phones in Thailand and Vietnam.
Tired of how boring iPhone was.
One ui, software and hardware reliability. I've been using Samsung all the way back to the s3. I've used, htc, Motorola and pixel. I have never had a bad experience with a galaxy phone. One ui is so feature packed, i can't use any other OS.
Google pay is a hit & miss in uk for me, whereas samsung pay works where google dont - spen, I actually like OneUI coming from iOS
Been using samsung since highschool, my first phone is Galaxy Ace. Never had an issue with Samsung phones even if it is not a flagship model.
Android ecosystem & the S pen ❤️
Good hardware, great softwa e support. Also, I used to have a OnePlus 8T. Tap to pay would often not work saying I moved the phone too fast, android AUTO stopped working with my car years ago. I don't have these problems with my Samsung phone. I hate the bloatware but I can live with it.
Wanted to wait for Xiaomi 13 to release globally last year, unfortunately my phone was dying then S23 series was released when I wanted to change my phone.
Just overall better user experience with the myriad of hidden/ underrated features like Power delivery in gamebooster to prevent overheating, secure folder for a seperate instance of an app, quick share for easy/ cloud-based file transfer, etc.
S pen, goodlock, 5 years on the S5, good connection with my PC, stock camera can control the ISO, speed, focus, and White balance.
I bought S23ultra because it was on good sale and it had everything that I wanted. If it hadn't been on sale, I would bought probably something else.
Just got my first samsung yesterday, refurbished S23 from Amazon, my other phone was a Motorola, had it for two years, came with android 10 updated to android 11, no more updates.
I read samsung updates their phones, so I decided to give them a try.
I would like to own a phone that is updated more than once in it's lifetime.
S23 is smaller than my other phone, I would have liked it to be bigger, I am getting use to it's small size.
Today is my second day with phone, yesterday I found problems with phone, So part of day yesterday was fixing problems.
Today so far is great. I was going to send phone back yesterday, as phone wasn't working the way, I wanted it.
After Google my problems, the answer was to flash my phone.
Main problem phone wasn't unlocked as promised from Amazon, wifi calling option wasn't on phone, phone wouldn't update past 1 Feb 2024.
Once I downloaded unlocked software and patched Odin, I was able to fix my phone.
Now updated to 1June 2024, wifi calling option in settings and works.
Phone is super fast, compared to my Motorola.
I am currently extremely happy with my samsung S23.
I too just got an s23. I got the pixel 7 pro a couple of weeks ago, and decided I wanted to go back to Samsung. Now that the Samsung has come in I've decided I actually do like the pixel and I just cannot decide which one I want to keep.
The displays. I use A series devices and you're not getting anywhere near the level of quality of a Samsung AMOLED at those price points.
I'm used to OneUI.
Official suooport available (I like to have my phone repaired by official shops, even if it is more expensive).
Secure folder.
My first phone was an SIII, and I bounced around with four different phones of varying quality. Needed something new, qnd high quality, and the iPhone was still Lightning, so S23 it is.
Because they are the best.
Haha. I brought a Samsung Galaxy because it was a big deal when I worked retail. And I found one super cheap at Target and thought I give it a go. I really do not like it. It is full of apps that need to be deleted and boy, are they hard to delete.
I know its a phone, but I use it now as a temporary tablet replacement
And I don't know why I really brought the god dang phone. I no longer work retail. I work in a community college
I'm currently rocking a 256gb s24, and I absolutely love it, just like I've loved every galaxy phone I've had before it. (This list is not in order of importance)
They look nice, especially the s8, s9, s23 & 24 lines.
The customization is unbelievable.
They are generally high-end amazing, super smooth phones. The screens, battery life and cameras in particular.
The eco system is great, and the wearable app is smooth with my buds 2 pro ans watch 6 classic.
I couldn't see myself using any other phone brand.
I used to be an Android "purist". Wanted the "authentic" Android experience, would root and put custom ROMS, launcers etc.
Samsung by default has most of what I want form a customization and interdface standpoint and I don't have to worry about messing with the phone.
Also the cameras are great which is a huge part of what I want from a phone.
Dex Secure folder Software updates General performance Camera Battery life Different accessories availability (especially solid cases like rokform) Wireless charging
Exactly in that order. I tried others, but Galaxy S suits me best. For private usage, phone almost replaced my computer (which for almost half year I'm using mostly for gaming)
Another perk, that wasn't there when I was about to buy new phone is personality options with good lock
Customization.
S-Pen
I like Deep Sleep, Dex, One Hand Operation+, AI, and Good Lock. I'm a S22+ user. After the 6.1 update, the screen-on time improved from 4 hours to 5 and a half hours, which seems reasonable since this series had a problem with the problematic chipset (8G1). This is my first flagship phone and I will keep for another 4 Years
I like OneUI and all the neat features it has
(I've been using xiaomi phone for 2 years and it was painful)
At this point I chose android because they usually have newer features earlier. But after so many years of always buying the newest thing I have found that there is no difference between them. The iPhone has a great picture and 120hz screen. I watch a lot of videos so side by side both the s23 (my current) and the iPhone 13 mini (my freebie) both look great. Obviously for my daily driver I use the 23 ultra because I prefer the larger size. At the end of the day though it doesn't matter anymore which one you choose. Mega zoom was great the four times I've used it. Finger print scanner is a favorite of mine but I'm finding that face Id is easier sometimes.
I had the pixel 6 pro and it had poor reception with random service drops. Not sure I’ll go back to pixel if they continue using exynos modems.
Literally just the best android hardware there is. Android gives me the freedom to customize the software to my hearts content, and I'm mostly in the Google ecosystem, but Pixel and other androids can't compete with the power and cameras of my S24 Ultra
One UI
Exynos! I love Exynos! Just kidding....
Having a securefolder
The S-Pen and its ecosystem.
Best android and best next to Apple. Though, I wish Sony Xperia would do better.
I was with Apple and decided to change and go back with Samsung (galaxy s24) but in kind of regret it now as android auto is not working with this phone in my truck. My wife has a A15 and it works flawlessly. I might go back to Apple unfortunately
They feel cutting edge. S8 was my first and the screen was so nice and futuristic at the time.
Split screen multitasking, pop up windows and my favorite feature individual app volume so that way I can mute the twitch app and have a twitch stream playing on picture in picture while I watch a YouTube video at full volume or have a mlb game In picture in picture muted and have a YouTube video playing
I wanted a foldable and nothing competed with the zfold 3 at the time. If I was buying today I'd probably get a one plus open. For slab phones Id pick up a pixel
Because I tried 2 non Samsung phones, and they both had problems detrimental to my user experience.
last google phone i had (pixel 6) overheated like crazy and the fingerprint sensor wasnt that good. which sucks cause i really like googles UI.
My first one was with S7 Edge (which was just given to me). Didn't enjoy it at all.. maybe because I was accustomed to Xperia Phones those days.
Just 3 yrs ago I finally gave Samsung a try again with S21. I loved it! OneUI is just the one for me.
Now I'm using my S24 Ultra typing this.
Its the closest thing with a stylus to the best phones of all time - the Ipaq h5550 with a gsm jacket, or the HTC Harrier.
I just like it. Tried an iPhone 8 plus 4 years ago but IOS isn't really my cup of tea. Went back to Samsung in a span of weeks.
I only have a Galaxy because of the hardware and customizability in Samsung's apps. If Google's Pixel had stuff like Call and messages backgrounds, better continuity with it's other devices, a pressure sensitive pen for the pixel tablet, and a wider range of phones, I'd definitely switch. Samsung also has super good trade in deals for their previous generation phones unlike Google. Everything else about Samsung really isn't that incredible.
Better integration with other devices than with Apple.
Because they're the best Android has to offer. There is a reason Samsung and Apple are synonymous. There is a reason why when you go into a carriers store these are the brands you see.
I won't use an iPhone so Android is my only option.
I want a popular brand - I'm not confident in something that isn't widely used (for things like support, etc).
Basically, I'm down to either Pixel or a Samsung phone. This might be small to some people, but I absolutely hate that the Google search bar can't be removed from the home screen on the Pixel (I know I can use an alternate launcher, but if I buy a phone, I'm buying it to use it how it was designed).
So that leaves me with Samsung.
because wifey has one and we also have two Galaxy tablets and a Watch. Guess we are trapped in the ecosystem. Also works well with Windows desktop for second screen, etc.
I dont trust google
It's a whole package for me!! Everything that I need and want is there!
A bunch of little reasons.
The S24 fits my hand like a glove and I can use it one handed. Most other brands have all but gotten rid of these smaller phones.
Flat back phones don't slide on surfaces as much as the convex backs you see on many phones. My Nothing Phone 2 slid off of a ton of tables, couch arms, chair arms, etc. with any vibration.
I will actually use DEX.
The support window is awesome.
The S24 is a very classy looking phone, and its grey colour matches all my Surface gear really well.
I'm tired of my ugly Garmin sports watch, and while I love the battery life (10 days or so between charges), I think I'm content to move to a watch that with some pruning might be able to make it two days between charges, but give me a much nicer interface. If I want the Watch 6, I want to pair it with the S24.
I have Samsung Smart Tags, so I need Samsung phone
Need an Android for work. Don't like Chinese phones, pixels heats up a lot and overpriced here. Samsung is the best option for me
reliability and scale. a lot of people have samsung phones and there's a lot of community/support/troubleshooting that surrounds it. also in my opinion it's the most reliable android phone OEM with consistent updates and security patches, smooth software, great cameras and video and an ecosystem that goes toe to toe with apple, for example, my galaxy buds, watch and phone work seamlessly together and they're all individually great whereas with other phone OEMs they might not make consistent products that are great
Been using Samsung since galaxy s2, IMO is the best Android phone you can buy, has great specs, support and different price ranges if you don't want to spend big money on it. I personally hate iOS, so never used an iPhone after iphone 4, that was years ago.
Don't care about what brand phone I have. Got the galaxy 5 bc it was cheap and been using the galaxy 8 bc it was cheap and did everything I needed it to do.
I've always preferred Samsung's Android skin/features over any other, and imo they've been making the best screens for the last 10+ years
Android phone with good hardware that has features that Google doesn't want to give Pixel users, namely a way to hide the nav pill and related wasted space without root.
because yes
Used to be the hardware. I had an S5 for 5 years because the battery was swappable, it still had microsd and headphones, and lots of other nice-to-have features (e.g. IR for TV control).
Now I've had the S10+ for 5 years. I bought it because it was the last big flagship w/ headphone jack and microSD.
Next phone, I really don't know. Samsung phones are now about the same as the others, the same shiny bricks running the same shitty OS, but with additional data privacy risks from the Samsung layer (on top of the carrier and Google layers).
I'll probably end up going with something like a motorola or nokia if they still have microsd support. For now I'm probably just going to buy a new battery and back panel for my s10+ and try to stretch it out a bit longer.
Cuz they've never did me dirty. And I have interest in Apple. YMMV but I've mostly had good experiences.
I chose the Galaxy A14 5G because it had a headphone jack and got it for 80 bucks, total. Snappy, works with my 5G network, and given I can never get bluetooth to work reliably with ANY phone/bud combo you can think of, from mid range Pixel/10$buds to the A14 and Raycons, always cut out when I put phone in pocket, as I'm walking, so annoying. Bluetooth is too finicky with interference, don't even live in a dense area, but if I can't listen to shit while mowing the lawn, what's the point? I can use bluetooth in house and the in car bluetooth just fine, but never in pocket, outside.
Because they're cool, the only thing that I would say rivals them is pixels because I just love pixels, I can forgive tensors underperforming.
onedrive gallery sync.
....and that's about it. maybe also because im used to samsung
Coz google pixel 8 has that tensor chip that runs too hot and has bad battery life. I had to get S24U
Money.
On last black Friday Samsung offered me $200 to trade in my shitty A32 on top of the discounts on offer for the S23.
Otherwise I was going iPhone.
Enough bang for the buck.
Just overall smoothness. That's all. Tried a few other brands but that wasn't it. Huawei was actually quite good before the Google stuff.
I've used it all my life, but I have used other android devices and the Samsung experience in my opinion feels way smoother than any other android and iOS device I've ever used.
Secure folder
Spen
For 2 reasons: 1) I've only had Samsung smartphones until now and I was always pleased with them. And 2) I kinda trust the Samsung brand more than other brands. Like, I'd also trust maybe Google or Nokia, but not so much the chinese brands, like Oppo and Xiaomi, although the products looks good and offer a lot of stuff for a cheaper price (compared to Samsung prices).
I has the Pixel XL, S10e, 4a, 6a, and now the S24. I wanted to come back to One UI and see how it was. Turns out, I think my next phone will be a Pixel.
I love OneUI and its features. In my opinion OneUI is even better than raw android.
I hate the circle icons from other android brands.
I dislike iOS, too limited, when a samsung flagship can do almost anything and even crazy stuff like running a desktop with Samsung Dex
new to Galaxy but i moved from pixel because my last pixel had a lot of hardware issues that really bothered me, and was failing pretty hard about 3 years in. plus I do like to do some gaming and other computationally intensive stuff and the Tensor pixels are definitely behind on that compared to snapdragon.
I flip flop between apple and android every few years. I like change. And I stay away from pixels because they are super inconsistent. Like, when a customer comes in and I have to work on their phone to fix it, if it's a pixel it's always a toss up whether or not it's a fixable issue or it's just bricked.
Bought a S23 weeks ago after 5 years living with iOS. I realize my work suits Android better.
User interface is way more better. One UI does not make me miss iOS much. Well-optimized 8gen2 chipset. Outstanding battery life for an Android-based phone. Probably the only thing I regret switching to Android is FaceID.
Samsung Pay, the only smartphone wallet that my bank support with apple pay
I also think they got the best package overall
Productivity, its just quicker and slicker to use a Samsung device, even quicker and slicker with an S Pen
Only have had 2 smartphones both Samsung. The people around me in the past hated their apple phones so that didn't help with considering a next phone to be Apple. Im still using my current s9+ and still good enough to not have to upgrade.
My mom always forced me to use a Samsung phone (I still don't know why to this day) but she doesn't anymore. But because I'm so used to the software and everything in Samsung, I've just stuck with it. Everytime I get a new phone (3-4 years) it's always a Samsung.
Android and power and this screen has not a single scratch on it despite not having a screen protector for 6 months.
I was looking to replace my iPhone 7 in 2019 and I didn't really like apple and wasn't impressed with the iPhone 11. The pixel 4 also didn't really impress me with the gesture thing they hyped up. Other brands like OnePlus and whatnot just didn't feel premium or felt gimmicky like with the pop up cameras etc. I got an S10+ because I thought that's when the galaxy series started competing visually with iPhones, and the UI was also pretty good.
I eventually replaced it with an S21, and Samsung has really only improved design, UI, and experience wise.
I got an S24 Ultra a few weeks ago. I still don't like how the new Pixels look, and my carrier gave me a big discount for trading in my old phone, so I got this. Hopefully will have it for a long time.
Dex.
I been trying others to. But still coming back s2,s5,s21u and soon s24u. I like what they do. Wish low light video would be better
I'm a Pixel fan, but I've gone back and forth between Pixel and Samsung. I recently broke my Pixel 6 and was really wanting to get the Pixel 8 Pro. But I ended up buying the Galaxy S24+ instead for these reasons...
* Pixel 8 Pro starts at 128GB storage and the S24+ 256GB storage for the same price.
* Tensor processor still seems to under perform the Snapdragon.
* Too many people reporting the Pixel runs hotter, big deal for me in Phoenix Arizona.
* Inferior battery life.
* Not a fan of overly large camera bumps, S24+ bump is easily hidden with a case.
* Slightly brighter screen.
Pixels are nice phones but they are all overpriced now in my opinion.
Before Switching S21FE i was using Redmi Note 9 Pro I checked out my friend's S21 it was super smooth and camera in galaxy phones are incredible also software updates that's very important factor to me to choose galaxy phone
cause I was born in a Samsung family
My first phone was a Galaxy Ace3 and it's decent. But when the S6 came out, the S line really became sort of a dream for me. I had then the A50, S10e and now S24, such amazing phones.
Samsung or die
It is an Addiction. Besides that I also can't work with IPhone
my first phone was a Galaxy -easy and reliable to operate, recently got a new one and kept with the Galaxy coz of previous experience and I thought , rightly, much of the functionality would be the same or similar.
The UI, the multi-tasking features, the AI direction, decent camera experience, the ecosystem
Because it has a long-lasting battery.
One UI. It's better than almost all Androids, specially the Chinese ones. I haven't used an iPhone in a while so idk what's going on in that space.
I am Korean and think of myself as somewhat patriotic. Hope LG comes back to mobile biz soon. Unlikely, I know. Stupid but simple enough reason.
Well i kinda regret it now since my s21 ultra is obsolete because of the one ui 6.1 update and Samsung isn't making a fix any time soon. :(
ecosystem plays a great role, using an s20 with extremerom oneui 6.1 and a gw4, and my next phone would def be another samsung just because the watch does not work aswell with another phone as samsung
I just love the Note series. I still use Note 9. The size fits perfectly in my hands, the screen is amazing, battery is good, camera is holding up pretty fine, the retina scanner is a blessing when I'm wearing gloves, the notification led indicator is really handy, the under display pressure sensitive home button is a treat, this has a audio jack and my main reason for buying a Note, the pen - It is very helpful for taking notes, editing photos, taking screenshots and making notes on them, painting with pressure sensitive brushes in penup and if nothing else it also functions as a wireless shutter for camera. Also I have to mention the pop-up window function - I can open as many apps as I can in pop-up window mode and multi task at the same time (it is different from split screen).
Also, integrated call recording. I dont use it but my brother who does business work finds it handy in his work.
My s21 plus has been not getting charged when plugged in cause of the overheating issues ever since after updating the One UI 6.1 Android 14.
My phone has faced this issue before as well also when dual sim is being plugged and phone gets heated a lot and not get charged as well.
This latest software update of One UI 6.1 is pathetic and disgusting phone is getting heated a lot and not getting charged as well

Customization +ui
Customization +ui
Software and UI. Hardware quality
Good Lock has tons of customization options, including extra gestures and the ability to change most things on the phone. Pixels have some cool features like Now Playing, but very little customization. Battery life is also significantly better with Samsung.
I'm not a big phone guy and the S24 is the right size in hand. These are my backup device and seemed like the most direct replacement for the S10 I was using before. The camera and screen looked good to me and we get a discount through work. So I guess it checked all the boxes for me.

I guess i'm just used to samsung. I've been a customer since the Galaxy s2, and I haven't had any interest in trying other options. Besides, i'm locked into samsung's ecosystem and it would be so damn hard to get out. For me, at least.
They the best
No galaxy phone or android can run MCL so I have to give it a 0-10. I have a heart implant and it needs a mcl app to communicate between the device to Bluetooth to the doctor office and android can’t handle it so I chose the 15 pro. I also I have a s24 and camara is better on iPhone.
I was very satisfied with my S8, then I got my A05S and I hate it...
I have a unique reason why I haven't switched.
I've thought of switching multiple times due to the ecosystem and Apple's polished software.
I also have the airpods, which I find to be the best buds on the market; in addition, I love the ecosystem of how the watch, buds and other Apple products seamlessly pair with eachother. I want an Apple Ultra watch so badly, but Apple locks that watch to iPhone and it's unusable on android.
This is probably going to surprise you, but what's stopped me from switching is actually the animation scale feature android has in their developer mode. If you open up developer mode, you can change the animation scale to x0.5 or x0.0 (I do x0.5) and this is an absolute game changer when using your phone. It makes my samsung s24u, and really any android phone, feel blazing fast.
I've tried my wife's iPhone 15 Pro Max and it's so noticeable how slow it is that I just can't switch. Even after putting on the "reduce motion" feature it's still not enough. Apple doesn't allow any other way to get a similar animation scaling edit, so due to that, I've been unable to switch.
That's a bit complicated I do prefer Android, for the thing I do and the systems I use it suits me better, and Galaxy phones in general, the hardware and software design, the S Pen (that I use for work) is really really helpful and some other things.
At the same time, living in Europe, many of the Galaxy Phones that land here are equipped with Exynos processors, and sometimes the experience just lack of smoothness and performance, and having used an iPhone 15 Pro...damn...that's so smooth, those animation.
A little bit more smoothness is the only thing that I wish Galaxy Phones had here, cause sometimes the experience gets a bit rough.
I was a long term Pixel user and I got sick of the damn bugs.
It wasn't uncommon to get pushed a "security update" only to find that Bluetooth or something else was now broken.
And then you'd dig into it, and find some hobbyist has kindly diffed google's own code changes and posted some actual release notes onto XDA developers. He's done this because Google think they're too important to put out release notes and think that "Security updates" is enough even though the diff shows that they've swapped out a bit section of the Bluetooth stack for reasons unrelated to security.
So now you have a bugged phone. Either root and rollback the update, or wait months for Google to fix it as they're busy working on the next pixel phone and the current pixel users don't matter.
My Samsung galaxy s24 ultra is the most stable phone experience I've had in years
The camera. Im leaving them though as every galaxy phone verizon has sold me (at ridiculous cost) has defective bluetooth/wifi that refuses to turn on and the phone is anything but water proof (the lenses fill with water when submerged momentarily despite never being damaged). Ive been a galaxy user since the s7 and its both sad and a bit pathetic to see quality drop so much. My boy has a fold and an s23 ultra that both came defective from whoever his provider is as well (At&t i believe)... But yea... Great cameras tho, that's the only reason i had stayed with the galaxy s series for ages
Samsung makes features that Google copies into stock Android later on.
Quick share was faster than Nearby Share, and Google collaborated with Samsung to make Quick share the standard.
Secure Folder
Samsung Pass > Google Password Manager
Routines
Samsung Notes > Google Keep
Link Sharing is useful for sending high quality photos and videos to iPhone users who don't want to install Google Photos
To properly run Samsung Health with Samsung watches
I have the S24 ultra I personally love the customizations, the camera, and the ability to multi-task and run multiple apps at once. The look and feel of it is great. The screen is beautiful and has always gotten better every generation. I've had every galaxy phone since the S5 and have never had one break. All my iPhone friends always have cracked screens. The really big one now is the S Pen. I use it every single day for work and also to just doodle when I'm bored. There are even a lot of other option that I don't utilize that I probably should but these are the main reasons I will never use an IPhone and never have, I can make my phone completely different from everyone else's phone. My video lockscreen my icons and text, color gradients, and the DPI in developer options let's me get the most out of my screen.
My first smartphone, which I really liked, was a Samsung (a flip phone, the Samsung Beat Party); my first Android phone was a Samsung Galaxy Y; and my first touch-screen phone was a Samsung too (a Samsung Star TV). Also, I think besides Google, Samsung is peak Android performance, my main phone right now is an S23 Ultra, and I love it. I had an A54 before buying the S23 Ultra and was pretty happy with it too.
I just think Samsung is and always has been the best android phone manufacturer. Might not have the best cameras because you can argue that the pixel this and that but out off all the other Android brands out there, Samsung is the one with the best balance, good cameras and performance too, etc.
i've had an iPhone for about 10 years, i've had the 4s, 5, 5c, 6, 6plus, and XR the iPhone XR was the last one i had I changed my phone in 2021, i wanted to change my phone for my birthday, and i initially wanted the iPhone 13 pro max, but i started looking into cheaper options and i stumbled upon the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE and I fell in love with it I saw people unboxing and reviews, I loved how you could customize it and how it ran so I bought that, and I actually searched for it for a while bc they didn't sell it in the physical store, only online so I got that in the 128GB version in the cloud lavender I used it for two years then, always for my birthday, I got the Z flip 5, which I also really love it's kind of my dream phone... I don't plan on changing my phone soon, but I am really liking the S24 Ultra, so if the next launch for the S25 Ultra is worth it, I might turn in the Zflip5 to have a discount and get the Ultra model I don't really know what I like about Galaxy phones or samsung phones in general, but I just like it better than iPhone I had Samsung for just 3 years, but I really can't go back to iPhone anymore
secure folder, galaxy watch and smarttags
Most carriers carry it and I can get it on a monthly payment
I'm on opposite end I prefer my OnePlus because I can actually own my phone Samsungs are harder to root if at all rootable. That being said I am not anti Samsung I own a watch 6 classic which with a workaround I have access to all the features including bp ecg and I own galaxy buds 2 and 2 pro I just think Samsung phones are over priced and locked down
So so easy to use for me and very powerful for what I need. I got my s10+ 500GB about 5 years ago and don't even want to upgrade
For me, it's either the Galaxy S series or the iPhone. I'm my country pixel isn't officially sold/ supported (no 5G, no VOLTE, no wifi calling). While all of these are available on Galaxy & iPhone.
iPhone has better apps/developer support everywhere. But I prefer Galaxy because I use All/most of Samsung's extra gratis features such as Smartthings (can control my Samsung TV much better than traditional remote control), I use Samsung Dex almost every day, Android automation (Bixby routine) I use it every day at least 4 times, Samsung keyboard is much better and more customizable than iPhone keyboards. Samsung browser is the #1 browser, especially in Dex mode. 45W Super fast charge is really useful and this is a huge point. Samsung Pay was a major point for me (it was available 3 years before we got Google Pay / Apple Pay).
These are all major points, maybe apple one day will add all these features, who knows.
My first Samsung phone was an S8, followed by a Note 10 and now a Z Flip 5. The running theme is that I like small phones. ;-)
I don't mind that Samsung takes a little longer to update Android, because stability is more important to me than speed. Given the volume of Samsung's sales, it's better for them to take time and do a lot of beta testing to get it right.
There's also something to be said for ecosystem. People complain about Apple's "walled garden", but the counterpoint is that it's really great when devices just work together without the user having to think too much about it. Samsung comes closest to that in the Android world, which has resulted in me having a Z Flip 5, Galaxy Watch 4, Bud2, and Tab S6 Lite (soon to be a Tab S9 FE). It isn't nearly as smooth as Apple products, but it's still more cohesive than a random assortment of devices.
I don't think too much about One UI, but it's definitely better than it used to be. I don't use DEX at all. I do use Secure Folder a little bit, and I really like how it's implemented.
A few reasons
