Haven't really looked at a lot of older album names of songs I listen to, but today I'm Sprung by T-Pain came on in the car and I looked at the screen and seen "Rappa Ternt Sanga" and cringed so hard I almost swerved off the road. Anybody else have any atrocious album names like that?
I never knew that. Terrible name for an album 🤣
Terrible name for weed also
aye, you tryna hit this hootie mack?
Ewww no lmao
It’s pronounced Hootie Mike
A whole hot mess. 😂
Always wondered what was the meaning behind that title lol.
That tracklist too 💀💀 I wonder how that creative meeting went
She was the original bad girl....Really ahead of her time. That shit R. Kelly did as far as a concept (edit: series) album? She did it first and WAY BETTER.
The first half of the album was in the misstresses voice and the second was from the wife's point of view. A roles she was speaking from with an experienced view. @ both sides.
When you have nicknames like The Queen of Raunchy Soul, Veteran Virtuoso of Vulgarity and the Godmother of Rap, you already knew what the creative meetings were hitting for....
True. Obviously this is an intentionally “badly” named album. She had a wild sense of humor. She’s a legend!
What concept album did Robert have?
The In The Closet Series.. I misspoke on calling it an album as it was a series...What was it, 33 of them?
I'm assuming that may be why you are asking here.
Yes it is known Millie had that mouth with the voice of vulgarity I even heard of it as a child in the 80's.
Idk this kinda hard. I might check this one out
Did you check it out? Because I did and unfortunately did not know anything about her. So I have a fresh perspective. I think she used to fight in her day like she was a Waffle House Employee. She’s gonna hit you somewhere and it will connect. I saw the cover and was shocked. Why is she letting us know we are about to hit some shit? She had a track titled “will you still love me tomorrow”. Bet. One of my favorite old school songs. I pushed play (on YouTube, couldn’t find it at my usual convenient streaming app) and heard this voice that was similar but different to Gladys knight. She hit me in the face and had me looking like beetlegeuse because I was shooketh. I then played another track “love stinks”. She reminded me on Shirely brown talking to an audience(the record; similar to don’t go looking for my man) and I am now a Stan because she clocked me once again. I am blessed to have been blessed to listen to this beautiful woman with this beautifully soulful voice that is full of nostalgia. Tell me what you think bro once you get a listen. Juneteenth just passed and she’s someone who should have been celebrated as well as many others. There’s a lot of random artist out there that you may have never heard of and she’s worth giving her a listen. She’s more than worth it.
This is an album that makes lists like this a lot so I'd say you are spot on. A consistent contender indeed.
Only got the live version on Spotify
If it didn't have that cover I'd hate on it 😂 but with her shitting that goes so hard lmao
omg my mom has this vinyl! 😭
Classic in its own right
My mom too and the ESP(Extra Sexual Persuasion) album.
My mom too and the ESP(Extra Sexual Persuasion) album.
I love this title 😭
Stop
Tf 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Who is this?
It’s literally at the top of the picture.
Gasms - Smokey Robinson
Yeah, that hit awkwardly.
I very much respect Robinson's decision to eschew his clean image at 80, but I also think "huh?" and "gross".
"I Fit in There"
Lololololololol
He lost his damn mind with that one🤦🏽♂️
Oof since this album was recorded with R. Kelly
Him being in the background of the cover makes it so much worse 🫤
Same energy
You could spin the title as an innocent “coming of age” type of title, but R. Kelly posted up in the background tanks that.
It doesn’t help that he had Aaliyah on the Your Body is Calling remix, talking about “Are you hungry? Do you wanna eat?” at 15-16.
Nah, Kells. You wanted people to know what the hell was going on with that title.
Aaliyah was 14 on that Body’s Calling Me remix 😕 (she was born in 1979, the song/remix was recorded in 1993)
We have a winner!!!
Certified Lover Boy
Can’t hear this anymore without immediately hearing Certified Pedophile
WOP WOP WOP WOP WOP!
Dot fuck em up
WOP WOP WOP WOP WOP!
On a similar note, I can’t hear “Songs In A Minor” without thinkin bout that song now
"A minoooorrrr!"
The album is nice but the cover & the name 🤮
The album is absolute dog shit. Dude rapped like he was still 22 or something. No grown man music at all.
this is just the new hot thing to say about Drake’s music now lol. CLB was actually really good, stop echoing what you hear on twitter
Some good songs on there but blaming Drake hate on Twitter is dismissive.
Nah, points about CLB and Drake’s music in general being juvenile has been echoed for a few years now. Joe Budden famously made the point on CLB and Drake lost his shit over it on instagram, which was even more juvenile.
that's all you hear everywhere lol people parroting what they seen on tiktok. I wouldn't call it an rnb album, but his shit is always good. he's one of the few people I can listen to for rap when I stray away from rnb
Absolutely because of social media lol to ignore the fact that the man has been at the top of the game for the last decade is just hating ATP….Drake features change lives don’t let kdot and his bandwagoners fool you
Even before his beef with Kendrick I never liked Drake as a person and only tolerated his music. Being at the top doesn’t shield you from hate and people have had negative things to say about Drake way before this beef. Don’t be dense.
if that’s the case, we should be hating on thugger & future etc

Me. I Am Mariah...The Elusive Chanteuse
Iconic in it's extraness, but still.
It’s like 3 album names in one…and neither is great. The Elusive Chanteuse on its own would have been kinda iconic though
Yeah, I love her but that album name was not it lol.
Yeah, that one was bad 😭
I absolutely love this name. I was never sure why. But I really do 😂😂😂😂😂
It’s cringe but it’s so Mariah that it works. I love that woman!
Don’t you ever disrespect queen Mariah! You’re banned
Aijuswanaseing - musiq soulchild
I love his music but the way he spells s**t infuriates me lmfao
yooo hell nah lmaoo
I know he gave his English teacher hell. Red marks all over his papers 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I was just about to post this one. 😂 My boyfriend hates the way it’s spelled and makes me laugh all the time 😂😂
M-A-R-Y-H-O-W-C-O-U-L-D-Y-O-U-B-E-S-O-C-R-U-E-L-T-O-M-E-M-Y loooveee lol had to do it 🤣
I thought I was the only one
I liked some of his songs at first but I never could get over the fact he named himself “Musiq Soulchild” 🤮
I had this one 😭
Bruh I thought that was a romanized Korean word at first 😭😭😭
It took me too long to realize that “Ternt” was supposed to be “turnt/turned.” I was reading it as “Trent.” Like Terrence Trent D’Arby or Trent Reznor 😭
Jibbs - Jibbs feat. Jibbs
I have several:
Chocolate Factory, Black Panties, The Buffet
I always thought Chocolate Factory was absolutely disgusting 😂😭, even before all his stuff "officially" came out
I never even blinked, because I was still a kid when it came out. All I knew was it was the cookout cd, cause we were stepping in the name of urine.
The intro the Buffet is nasty work.
sorry R. but I just lost my appetite
Definitely didn’t age well 🤣😳🤣
If only we knew then what we know now
People did know — they just didn’t care
i love mariah sm but what the fvck is “me… i am mariah, the elusive chanteuse”
You’re banned
Book II was supposed to happen but got cancelled. Minus the past present and future book 1, I think it’s a good album name. I like the play on “His Story”.
book II was a DVD with his videos!
Nvm then
In hindsight?
12 Play
You are wild for that. I never even thought about it 😂
Seems like you’re ready…I don’t see nothing wrong…Summer Bunnies.
The whole damn thing was a confession.
Wasn’t Aaliyah 12 when he said “little cute Aaliyah’s got that vibe” on his first album?
This rabbit hole is never ending
“Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse”
She irks me 🙄🤣🤣
Watch your mouth. You just be glad to exist in her world
We “don’t know her”
Blackface by Shai... fire album tho lol
I HATED that album, coming from their debut. I expected more. I was like WTF is this???😂
Jackson 5 - Third Album
You really shouldn't look into Chicago's discography if that title disappointed you
And led zeppelin💀💀
Fuck I forgot l-lV lmao
You know what the killer about that is? Their first album is literally named The Chicago Transit Authority.
And every native Chicagoan (myself included) just fought from having their eyes stuck in the back of their heads.
The Chicago fans I ever met irl were this random drunk I'd party with occasionally in college and my stepdad (who never drinks at all lmao)
You'd really hate Chicago then lmao
Almost swerving off the road is crazy 😂
"Ooooooohhh... On the TLC Tip" 🤦🏽♂️
lol I love that title
Lil B - I'm Gay
(I’m Happy) he definitely leaned into the controversy.
Whoa ntm on T-Pain 😂
Exactly! I was like now wait a minute…Mr. Tallahassee Pain of Wiscansin fame doesn’t deserve this slander! Hahaha
Dark Lane Demo Tapes by Drake
Why?
Idk I just don’t fw it
Faith Evans’ first three album names were uncreative ash 😂. “Faith” “Keep The Faith” “Faithfully”
I would’ve given her a 2 album pass on playing on words, with her real name. 3 is pushing it.
It’d be like if Justin Timberlake kept doing it after Justified. Like, Poetic Justin, or Justin is Served.
Let Me Tickle Your Fancy-Jermaine Jackson.
NaS - N_____ album
3D - TLC Me. I Am Mariah. The Elusive Chanteuse HIStory: Past, Present and Future Book I
Self titled albums
tyrese - tyrese lol
I’ll take Tyrese self titled over Alter Ego (Black-Ty)
i 100% agree. the albums that have more time put into them, can lack a thought out title. We will still judge tho
So boring and unoriginal, usually their first ones too
For Aaliyah it was her 3rd album. Although her best work. Couldn’t they come up with a better name than that?
Most true fans refer to it by its original name "The Red Album"
I absolutely love “The Red Album” wish she stuck with that but will def be calling it that from now on so thanks for the info!
Yeah same, never knew it was called “the red album” so imma call it that from now on.
As annoying as it’s is (I would be so disappointed when an artist named their album after them) but from what I read or heard is that artists would do this when the work of the album truly represented them hence naming the album after their name.
Except Beyoncé cause that album is flames and the start of her transformation into being her own person.
There are plenty self titled albums better than that.
Did I say that was the best self titled album ever? If so please highlight my mistakes so I can make the proper edits! Thank you.
Did I say you said that was the best self-titled album ever? If so, please highlight my mistakes.
Flamed your lame ass. Ttyl.
How is rappa ternt Sanga cringe? That albums was too good.
Read the post again. I love the album
I understood. We love the album but I think the music is so good you shouldn't care for the name. Just my opinion. It was a sign of the times. As everything.
More Issues Than Vogue was pretty trash.
Trpl Black - BDNP2 (Big 🍆 N-word eat 🐱 2)
You’ll figure it out
Nas “N word”
sisqo unleash the dragon
that's kinda tuff tho
I’d say more tough as in “a struggle to believe that’s what he called it” than tuff; but that’s just me.
Catch These Vibes by PNB rock lowkey hella generic
Akon - Afro Freak and TT Freak lmao.. different albums.
Rappa ternt Sanga is a great name lol
It's a horrific name and you can't convince me otherwise. If he spelled it normally, it might be acceptable, but how it is? Hell nah
lol you got it man
I totally agree about 'Rappa Ternt Sanga'! It's so bad it's almost good. Maybe T-Pain was going for a bit of ironic humor with the title. On the other hand, some titles just get lost in translation. I remember hearing about a foreign album with a really strange title, but apparently it had a beautiful meaning in the original language.
Personally, I love a good, simple title. Radiohead's 'OK Computer' is a perfect example. It's short, memorable, and sparks curiosity without revealing too much. But hey, to each their own! That's what makes album titles so interesting - they can be funny, thought-provoking, or just plain weird.
💀
How is Fiona Apple not on this list? All of her album titles are poems that are shortened.
Vomit inducing
Tortured poets department
Yes - Tormato
Badussin
I remember reading that long title for that classic Aretha Franklin album
Flex Musix by OsamaSon is dumb asf icl
That hot dog water and chocolate starfish album
Ludacris - Chicken and Beer.
It always came off to me as childish to name your album that.
Gunna-Wunna
Them old no limit albums. Like snoops “da game is to be sold not told”
Nelly-Sweat also Nelly-Suit
Watch the god damned road while you're driving!!!
The Emancipation of Mimi 🤢
Hey, come on now, I ran through that CD in middle school & it still hits hard almost 2 decades L8R 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I like that one. I just feel like it fits the Butterfly album more cos that's when she got emancipated.
Me. I Am Mariah.. The Elusive Chanteuse is the cringey title.
And although Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel is very poetic and a great title, calling hourself an angel is kinda cringe. Like it fits as a novel title where the writer calls the main character an angel but someone putting that in a book or album title about themself is weird.
Hootie Mack- Bell Biv Devoe
That was their nickname for weed at the time.
