Jesus. Downvoted to fuck. I thought that was pretty funny.
I dub it the "sheep effect". When a post is downvoted, it's far more likely to get downvoted further. And people who would've otherwise upvoted it, will subconsciously not upvote it.
Some sub reddits hide karma on newer comments for exactly this reason.
Every sub should
Actually, ya! In fact if I make a comment, I like every comment related to it and I like the post itself and it seems to boost the reaction I get every time
I do feel there’s a reverse effect though. When downvoting is mentioned, it is then upvoted. Which seems to be the case here.
Yep, every time. Because people's subsonscious bias has been called out. Now they are thinking about it and don't want to feel like they are being biased. It can even be the case that some people that would've downvoted it even without seeing the vote count, will now not downvote it, for fear of feeling silly.
These small conversations are my favourite part about reddit. 0% brain rot every once and a while u/JammyWaad
You're the type who I'm describing in my comment.
That's because you think it's original and therefore clever. But everybody else has heard it before. Such is the nature of jokes about cards, hands, etc.
Why has this comment got so much hate?
It’s Reddit, what do you expect lol.
i see downvotes i add downvote. unga bunga.
The person posting it might have been involved in that internet-based monkey torturing operation that got busted a couple of months back.

To be fair, the original was way better than the spinoff.
is quads on the board not determined by a high card ?
6666T for both
It is. High card is 10 on the board.
oh so thats how it is ? thanks!
since i have your attention if theres a flush 5 spades on the board and we both have a spade its determined by high card or which of us has the bigger spade ?
and if none of us have a spade its determined by high card ?
If neither of you have a spade it's a chop, whoever has the highest spade above the lowest one on the board wins, if neither of the spades in either hand is higher than the lowest on the board it's a chop.
If you both have a spade high spade wins IF it's higher than one of the board spades.
Example: board (all spades) AQ986. If you have the 3 of spades and your opponent has the 5--doesn't matter. you both play the board. But if one of you had the 7 or higher now you'll play that instead of the 6. Get it?
yep i got it, now i'll not be weirded out be either chopping the pot with the guy or if one of us wins
In all cases, you just take the best 5 card hand that each player can make between the board and their hole cards. If those two hands are the same then it's a chop.
So for your 5 spade board example, if each of you has a spade that's lower than all 5 on the board, then it's a chop because you both play the board.
If you both have a spade: high spade wins. If you both do not have a spade: you both have a flush and chop the pot.
Also, if for example you have the A of spades, the other player has the K, but the board is 23456 of spades, you chop. The board plays, so anyone with the 7 of spades would beat both others in that scenario.
because thats a straight flush or ?
yeah
thanks for clearing it up for me, happened a few times and didnt quite get it
Just look at what the best 5 card hand is for each person, and that gives you your answer.
The rule is that all hands are made of exactly 5 cards. Applying that to the flushes - non-spade cards cannot be considered because your flush is 5 spades
It would matter which spades you have too, right? Like of the board was A K Q J 9, it would be a chop no matter what assuming one of you doesn't have the 10 in which case it'd be straight flus vs flush anyway. But if the board is like 2 3 4 5 7, then who ever had the higher remaining spade would win, again assuming neither has the straight flush, right?
If you both have a spade: high spade wins.
Not necessarily, see my other comment
As well, if you both have a spade yet neither is higher than the lowest spade on the board that would also be a chop.
Also if you both have spades lower than any card on the board it’s a chop.
you are playing the best five cards out of seven. always.
best 5 card hand whether that's playing cards from your hand or the board. That's all you have to remember.
Running 66 chop
the pot could split if.. oh wait there are already 10 answers here which say exactly the same thing
But did you consider that if two sixes come the pot would be chopped?
No one is even questioning why bro is all in with 4 5
A student of Mike Postle
*Keating, 54o would’ve been playing live if he was a student of Postle.
66 would give each player 6 6 6 6 10 to chop
Running 6’s. 10 kicker would chop
Everybody loves chop pot potential
Runnings 6s you have same hand
I feel nobody is accounting for the 0.1% chance of a misdeal
That's a feature of ACR.
66 mate
2 more 6s and you chop
Running 6s would be a chop, so 50% x 1/(45x44/2) ~ 5/10k which rounds to .1% equity if those are your sig figs.
Potential flush house if villian has The Moon
Quad 6’s on the board can chop other than that I don’t think you can lose there
Running quad 6666 on the board with the 10 kicker on the board for a chop.
66 runner runner chop
6 6
Running Quads
Runner runner quad 6’s.
Running 66s
66 chop
what site or game is this?
Rival can't win but can chop with quads on the board
Make sure you don’t acknowledge all the people who replied with an answer to your question.
Running 6 6
There's been so many hands you know some poor sap with 1010 chopped this way at some point 😂
Running 6's makes a tae quads 10 High each. Split. So the only way you don't win the pot it would be a split anyway. You cannot loose at this point.
Chop outs
could come 10 10 to give 5 of a kind
Chop
6, 6
I saw almost this same hand a week ago with the .01% result.
P1 = TT, P2 = 6X
Board = JT666.
I looked it up and P2 wins after that flop, 37 out of 40K tries. P1 paid off the AI at the river.
There are only 1,980 turn/river combinations, why run it all the way to 40k?
You would have to ask the website that calculated the number.
My intuition says that whoever programmed the calculator probably found it easier to just simulate 40k hands each time you want to calculate equity rather than program it in a way to generate precise tables.
Running 6
Running sixes would give you both quads with a ten
610666 you chop if thats the run out
Couldn’t think of running sixes yourself?
So why would the other user have 0.1%?
I’ve been playing poker (not well) for years and I often fail to consider chop outs, especially in the moment when my adrenaline is pumping a bit. Only think about what “beats” me not all the possibilities.
Like when I have A5 vs AT flop A5J turn K river J, “I just won cause he didn’t hit his ten!” I say confused as the dealer starts splitting the pot.
This looks to be an error. In a casino you have 99.9% equity, but on jokerstars it's 50%.
r/poker moment
66 like others have mentioned or they catch runner-runner and beat you.
There is no way they can lose this hand.
Is that because the poker engine accounts for whether outs are still in the deck?
No. 54 on this board can never beat tens full.
Oh duhhh, brain's not working today. Only saw trips lmao.
It can tie though
What two cards in the deck on the turn and river will win for 54o?
6 6 wins half the pot.
Yeah when that 6th river card comes out they are in serious trouble.
It can come 66 for a chop
