If you were at Hogwarts, what would be the first thing you‘re doing?
DiscussionIf you’re a wizard, assuming you’re a first year, you cannot have a personal broom unfortunately.
So believe it or not, straight to detention with you illiterateardvark!
Muggles can't see Hogwarts...
Random muggles can't. However the Ministry can allow specific muggles to see magical places that are otherwise hidden from muggle sight. Like Hermione's parents were allowed to visit Diagon Alley. So if you happen to be closely related to a witch/wizard and/or deemed trustworthy by the Ministry, I'm pretty sure you could in fact see Hogwarts.
Obviously, but this is a hypothetical. We usually play fast and loose with hypotheticals
Humans can't fly, but we can still discuss what it might be like if we could fly despite it not being possible for us to do so
Isn't the castle just a ruin in a muggles point of view?
Try to go to class.
Get lost on the way to class.
Cry.
True ravenclaw going straight to class
I have no sense of direction so me too friend. I'd get lost on the way to Gryffindor tower and end up sleeping on the stairs 🤣
As a Ravenclaw who is more on the wise and creative side, I’d probably get stuck pondering the question to get into the common room. 😭
Same here lol
"Where's the bathroom? I've been on a train for hours, not to mention the lengthy boat ride, and my back teeth are floating."
are u not a wizard? shit yourself ffs
The phrase “my back teeth are floating” means I have a strong urge to pee. Just fyi.
you drinkin piss?
You drinking shit? Google the phrase, I’ll wait.
Why would I ever shit myself on purpose?
Pfft, you don't?
he must be a filthy mudblood not shitting his pants like a real wizard would
I dunno if it’s a mistype, but a good proper shit will do
Update: I never expected to update this comment. Like in an hour later after I wrote some good proper shit would do, my dog came from the yard to my bed to do what? To bring some good proper shit on my sheets, duvet and pillows ahahhahaah. Am I officially initiated into wizardry now?
it's what wizards used to do
Magic, Because Who Needs Dignity?
Stoolus disappero!
Oh I thought you were going to say something about moaning Myrtle
You didn’t go on the train?
My back teeth are floating? wtf does that mean
Library to get access to as many spells as possible as fast as possible.
And I don’t mean combat spells or anything flashy.
Things like accio, reparo, locomotor, lumos, etc…
I would know like 30 spells day 1. Charms to make my books float around next to me, scurgify to clean things, anything I could do to make the mundane world and my day to day life more magical.
I’m not saying I’d be good at any spells immediately, but I’d have a list to practice constantly.
I would infact “pull my wand out for everything”
This is something that always bothered me about Harry. He was so disinterested in learning magic. My man learns he’s a wizard then treats his time at Hogwarts like it’s a chore.
Your approach it’s much more sensible and likely.
This is why I relate to hermoine so much. She’s a muggle born who just goes bananas wanting to learn everything because muggle life is so boring compared to wizard life. At least that’s how I feel.
Maybe she was a bookish nerd and would have been in muggle world too, but I always saw it as excitement about the magical world, not just being studious.
I relate to Tom Riddle with this as well. Despite the whole serial killer vibes, I relate to learning all the secrets of the castle and learning as much as possible about every kind of magic.
Agreed compared to our schools where depending on what career you choose some classes are worthless learning as much magic and spells as soon as possible in Harry Potter makes way more sense.
I mean I’m sure arithmancy and ancient runes probably doesn’t help if all you want to do is raise magical creatures for a living. Haha
Straight to the kitchens. I’m about to befriend the crap out of those house elves.
Dead helpful they are, get me a roast ox if I said I was peckish.
Room of requirement right away
EDIT- on second thought, maybe the kitchens
Getting lost. I can't find sh-t in Hogwarts Legacy (map path=life). But I love the building, so it's okay. It's like getting lost in a toy store. 🤩
Go see the owls.
Probably just take it all in. The smells, the feel, how cool are the stone walls under your hand. It would be like a waking dream to not just see but to truly experience it. Then head to the great hall and grab some snacks. I know that food HITS
Playing on the staircases lol
if u push someone down the stairs do they plummet to their death or do the stairs keep shuffling them around as they endlessly fall down?
you get my upvote
With the amount of students deaths per year during Harry’s time I’m sure Hogwarts’s safety policy is survival of the luckiest.
Quidditch!
Go to the library immediately and learn as many spells as possible whenever I’m not in a class
sounds like you, me, hermonie would get along
Attend the sorting ceremony???
That's what I would assume and am wondering why I had to scroll too far to find this answer
The kitchens. I have to try the legendary food.
If I were at Hogwarts, the first thing I would do is marvel at the magical surroundings and explore every nook and cranny of the castle. I would definitely want to visit the library, check out the moving staircases, and maybe even try some spell-casting in an empty classroom. The possibilities would be endless in such a unique and enchanting place!
Go to the library, to check the restricted section, of course. Ravenclaw forever!
hmmm. i am walking around the entire castle and making my own marauders map.
Cry because it’s finally happening, I received my letter and can finally attend.
Open the Chamber of Secrets, chat with the Basilisk
Reminds me of one of the best lines from the book
“Oh, get out of the way, Percy,” said Fred, “Harry's in a hurry.” “Yeah, he's nipping off to the Chamber of Secrets for a cup of tea with his fanged servant,” said George, chortling.
Checking the bathroom situation
Get sorted, naturally.
Test the limits of the Room of Requirement.
Just walking around exploring, maybe saying Hi to a few talking painting, possibly convince Peeves to not prank anyone just so everyone can stress about what is planning by being so quiet, while basically giving a few days of peace to everyone XD
Study and make new friends
Find a bathroom 🤣🤣. And then get some din din at the Great Hall

Same. I feel like I would have to work there after 7 years because I wouldn’t be remotely done with the exploration on a student’s schedule.
Enjoying all the food at the start of term feast.
Sit in front of the fire in the common room with a book and my new cat.
See the baby golden unicorns
Start learning to cast a patronus
Finding out how to break into the other common rooms. Also exploring the secret passageways.
Befriend the closest hippogriff.
Eat breakfast at the Great Hall…
Start of term feast, obviously
Get sorted! What else would I do?
Fall to my death when a stair case moves.
Getting sorted and then eating. The same as everyone else.
Hagrid’s hut.
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I'd unironically do Hagrid
Ima give moaning myrtel a WHOOOLE different meaning
As a person who doesn’t like large crowds and needs quite time to recharge, I’d Learn to fly a broom. Fly to a spot across the lake overlooking the castle and grounds, clear the spot of brush and debris making it a spot so I could get away from the commotion of the school.
But this is probably against all school rules because being a first year and all.
I would be getting lost. Very lost and often.
Straight to the broom closet
Enjoy the feast, obviously.
Learn to ride a broomstick, I want to play quidditch.
Go to class immediately and learn as much as possible!
I’m not putting one toe out of line….
Assuming I am a wizard I would go to the library and learn some magic. Then room of requirement
I’m going to the library!
Isn’t “get sorted into a house” the only correct answer?
Study zoology.
Eat and then go to sleep.
Looking for the quidditch field to fly a broom
Aaaaaaaaavvvvvvvvvaaaaaaaaadddddddddaaaaaa keeeedddaaaaaavvvvvvvvrrrrrraaaaaa!
we're the same. i'm about to be another Voldemort
Flitwick
Probably falling into Black Lake
Sneaking into the forbidden section and studying how to become an animagus.
The words that came to mind “pigging out in the great hall all this time”… those feasts look delicious and I’m here for it 😂
Getting free healthcare in the nurses office. After eating my fill in the great hall and getting sorted into Gryffindor.
Seeing if my iPod works still, and whether or not I can get it to work.
Sneak around at night
Go to the library
Prefect bathroom
Flying a broomstick
Hop on a broom and most likely get lost somewhere
I’m going to eat!!!
Kitchens, I was always fond of how obedient the elfs are, I’ll tell them to come to my dorm at certain timings to give me cookies and cake because I can.
Learning as many quality of life charms as I can. No more housework for me
I’d like to get sorted I suppose and then have something to eat
Definitely quidditch
Explore the castle get ready for class the more spells you know the better
Straight to the chamber of secrets. I want to pet a new snake there and write a new history.
Going absolutely buck wild at the feast
Get a book on How to become become better than tom riddle.
Honestly, trying the food. All of it. Second, learning magic. I would be thrilled to learn wand magic.
Wandering around then getting hopelessly lost and starving to death in a random hallway
Fly a brum
Eating
I guess I am a muggle, I'd like to go to meet Hagrid and then Prof. Snape bcoz I wanna be a Slytherin
Looking for the Room of Requirement, obviously.
Just admiring the place, filled with awe.
If the staircase from the boathouse is as high as the one in Hogwarts Legacy, wheezing & gasping for air.
Stare at everything
Know where i can get some... gillyweed?
Quidditch
Try to figure out if i'll be outgoing or introverted
Find the girls bathroom and say "hassafrass" until I get the chamber of secrets opened again.
Going to the bathroom then proceeding to the great hall to eat that amazing food.
For real though, I think September 1st, regardless of which year you're in, would be so many young witches and wizards' favorite day of the year. Getting to meet up with your friends on the Hogwarts express and catch up after the summer, and spend hours just chatting and hanging out, and then getting to witness the sorting ceremony, followed by a grand feast and a good night's sleep alongside friends in your dorm. I would be looking forward to it every year and miss it once I'd have graduated.
learn Avada Kedavra also AM I THE ONLY RAVENCLAW WHO DOESN'T GO STRAIGHT TO THE LIBRARY OR CLASS
Have you ever listened pumped up kicks?
To be honest I’m finding somebody to take me to Ollivanders to get my wand
Go to the chamber of secrets in/before Harrys First year and befriend the Basilisk/the Serpent of Slytherin
ENGORGIO
AVADA- just Kidding :) I would get lost on purpose to get away from social interaction
counting the stairs.
Straight to the girls bathroom and entering the chamber of secrets yo…
Check out the common room
Off to find Hagrid.
Scream
hug dumbledore❤️❤️❤️
Head to the Forbidden Forest.
What ever it is iam sure the second thing is detention
Go unpack in the Ravenclaw Tower.
I would spend all my free time (not required for studying) to explore the contents of the library, try to find the castle’s numberless secrets, participating in the duelling club or playing Quidditch. So I believe 7 years would never be enough.
making sure I am in either ravenclaw or slytherin otherwise I am quickly transferring either to Durmstrang (they don't have houses at all and start first year at 10 instead of 11 ) or across the pond to Ilvermorny (Horned serpent House)
Become an animagus
Blasting my clit on the faucet in the prefect bathroom then relaxing to the most lit bath ever
Oh honey if it's the 5th year I'm gonna go and find umbridge and avada kadavara her 😁
Go to hogsmead for a butterbeer.
broom fly through the outsides, the views must be amazing
Read everything I can in the Library, what do you want me to do beside that ?
Find a map
Start cursing all the muggles I know
Go to the Gryffindor hall ( If I had been sorted in Gryffindor) and find Fred and George and talk to them and also the Golden trio. Then I would go to the library and read all the books.
Even as a kid, and when I first saw the first film.. I wanted to explore those beautiful shadowy sunlit hills and the ghastly forests. I loved the little moments we did get.. but I’d be that looney who spends his time (if allowed) out in the expanse and would probably find those moments where I come across a cool plant or beast and journal it and slowly become close to the professors we don’t hear much about, like herbology or beasts. But then the inability to quench my curio will always leave me to learn and understand more and more. Spells, magicks and histories. So the library or the observatory would be a nice spot to escape to.
Are we assuming it’s the era with Voldemorte and all that? Or a time before and or well after?
Honestly once I got through the Fantastic Beasts saga I grew to really admire Newt, and if I was around in his lifetime I would have loved to become his amanuensis and once I grew wiser we for sure would have tag teamed and collaborated on a book and opened a sanctuary for kids to visit. Almost like Tardis Zoo’s all over. Like field day, field trip days. I think that’s where my spirit would have wanted to pull. I’m not a fighter or a dueler.. but I would know a curse or two because… my wit’s thirst always grew. But I would never use them.. so it’s said. I could hold my own, but seldom like to cause harm even to the most deathly creatures.
The great thing about “benevolence” is knowing you’re a monster.. capable of much destruction.. but choose to not embrace the shadow, or use them. I think it would be why my hogwarts self would pour his devotion into the natural world and Knowledge. To help keep a balance. But now.. Saturday evenings after some dinner and tea.. you would see me glued to the telescope. The cosmos was an equal obsession and eventually led to the flickers of ancient magic the stars would spit and spout to those whom listened and watched. Alchemy would consume him. As he would become one himself.. and Would spend years writing tomes he didn’t often share, only to close friends and colleagues who kept asking him to come back to teach. He would refuse, murmuring “I have nothing to teach.. but more to show. Lock me in a classroom and nothing they would know.”
Soon before not, it wouldn’t be a big deal. Not a big name or a crazy legacy to behold. Eventually there would be another hut in the wood.. and wouldn’t be the gentle giant or a crazy wizard.. but a man, whom always welcomed any plant, beast, student, muggle or wizard. Who needed help, potions or to wind down. He would have a fresh pot boiling and endless hours to listen or chat.
His wand always stood on a mantle above the fireplace. When some students asked “why don’t you carry your wand with you?” He uttered a chuckle and opened a book to some friends he had, various schools across the large world and said.. “a wand is a tool to focus magic.. it’s not required to USE magic.. young one. My hands are fairly capable and I must admit.. I enjoy the art of doing so very ardently.. sips tea” “ANYWAYS, who here knows how to get a Fwooper to give you its feather??? Come along now”
Every time someone left, student, friend or a professor.. you would see this immense sparkle in their eyes, a strange shift in presence.. almost as if they had relief and bliss. It would see we found that not all wizards may be powerful or renown.. but it was obvious his company was sought and adored. A true giver. And so here we grow old as the tales of my life in hogwarts comes to its end. A letter arrived via Raven.. and we see our wizard start to pack a trunk and ready his Thestral as the letter falls to the floor.. with this most peculiar sigil on the wax seal. It seems a friend from another school, across the great seas and boundless deserts had sent him a letter of dismay… someone very close to them went missing..
I'ma head to sleep the moment after the feast then probably skip class in the morning because I'm too tired to wake up
Definitely working on love spells
Make some friends, go exploring the grounds. Meet Hagrid. Check out the Quidditch pitch when it’s empty. Make the Astronomy Tower my favorite place in the castle.
Eat a bunch of food and learn spells.
I know most of y’all are going to the room of requirement to get a girlfriend.
Trying to find the one eyed witch statue so I can sneak off to Hogsmeade.
Everyone will be confused, how does a Muggle-Born first year know the secret Honeydukes passage?
Explore the castle.
Invisibility on an go exploring.
I don’t think you have a choice, you need to go to the Sorting Hat ceremony
Checking out the secret passages
Or trying to fly a broom
room of requirement!
Crying.
Eating. My favorite scenes are in the Great Hall when students are having meals. I’m so jealous of them.😆
Based on my experience in the Hogwarts Legacy game, I’m going to run around finding guidebook pages and treasure chests and stuff in order to be overpowered by the time I even attend my first class.
Am I going to Hogwarts between 1990-97?
Hope I get sorted into Hufflepuff, nothing happens to the 'Puffs (course if I was there during tri-wiz, silently support Harry I.e not wearing a badge)
After that?
If i'm a student, have as much fun as possible in a school for /MAGIC/
if not, try to troll Dumbledore as much as possible by giving vague bit completely useless advice (see how he likes it)
Go to class everyday and learn more and more.
Keeping my ass out of the Dark Forest...and following all the school rules because damn, the consequences are...deadly
i'll immediately start learning bunch of spells. i'l try at least. i'll try to learn everything even forbidden spells. and if anyone bumps into me i'm abt to avada kedavra them😂well jokes aside i always liked and related to tom riddle and Hermione. they both had a great interest in magic and tried learning as much as possible. i would try and learn everything i can. combat spells and other spells that might be useful in daily life. thats it. just magic. i don't care abt anything else in there
Having a bath.
Going to the library 📚 😁
Going to the library. I bet it smells so good in there
First i would visit the chamber of Secrets!
Going to the forbidden forest. Imagine everything I'd find, and if I die, I die.
Room of Requirement
And I’m not coming out for a few days
Cos…
Reasons
First...gotta pee. Then check out my sweet dorm room. Then I'd introduce myself to some teachers, try to learn simple spells right away that make my daily life more magical/fun/convenient (cleaning, accio, etc) and then research about magical creatures and ask Hagrid if we could get some of my favorites to observe in class.
Oh and DEFINITELY BUY A CAT!!!
use flitwick as a football and punt him across the vast fields of hogwarts
Engorgio some tittays
Was that picture of Hogwarts taken by David Yates?
Crankin my hog
Moaning Myrtle. I refuse to explain any further
The first thing I’m doing is asking around to find out where Ron and Hermione are and staying as far away from them as possible because I don’t wanna die.
Learn this cruciatus-spell and dominate the campus.
Am I free to roam or is McGonagall glaring at me to get to my common room? If I'm free, I'll go with Hermione to the library.
Accio heroin.
I will do satanic ritual to call ghost and ask them to fight with hogwarts resident ghosts..
Trying to go into the girls' dorm for a free slide.
Am I a wizard or a muggle?
Wizard: hopping on a broom and admiring the majesty of the castle and surrounding countryside
Muggle: Going to the great hall. Between the enchanted ceiling, the lively conversations, and the food, it seems like a chill way to spend an afternoon
