Ok, no intention (probably) but that doesn't mean it's not a fault. At least for putting the player in danger... I saw yellows given for legs raised too much
Hope he is okay. Years ago something similar happened to me during a game. Someone ran straight into me at full speed. His shoulder collided with my chest.
The next day I went to my doctor with chest pain. He sent me to the hospital to get a blood test. They found an enzyme in my blood that gets released if youve had a heart attack. So I ended up in the coronary unit in hospital for a week or so.
It turned out that I had just really bruised my heart. The enzyme also gets released when that happens................. Phew!
Sorry to hear that dude, hope you're doing better now 👍
Ahh tks a lot. That was actually about 10+years ago. Ive played loads of games since then (:
Damn never heard of a bruised heart. How long did it take to fully recover ?
I was fine. The chest pain went in a day or so but they kept me in coz they were worried. To be honest I felt totally fine. It was more the enzyme that triggered their worries about what had happened. I had never heard of a bruised heart either. But thats what they told me was the cause.
Hope you’re doing OK too. I’ve had the almost exact same injury. I was tackled by someone leading with their elbow, made pretty much direct contact with the heart. It was painful for a while but no long term harm done. I’m still playing weekly despite getting on a bit.
Sounds very similar. I was fine after. I just had ongoing chest pain for a few days. That all happened about 10+yrs ago. Ive played loads of games since. My hearts still ticking along fine!(: .......
Im also getting on a bit(48). Unfortunately Ive been out injured with chronic back pain the last 1yr. A proper injury. Not a fake heart attack!! Yesterday I got 4xCT scan guided steroid injections into my back. It wasnt pleasant. BUT if it works itll be worth it. I could be back playing football(5aside) weekly again within the month🙏🙏
Sorry to hear about your back pain man. Hope the steriod injections work the trick and get you back out there. I'm 49 but still love my weekly matches. It all started with a grant from the FA. They asked me and couple of other people whether we could get a group of over 35's together for a weekly 7-a-side, part of a scheme to get older blokes exercising. They funded 10 weeks, hoping we'd pay afterwards. We enter our 10th year next year! And many of our kids are now teenagers and playing -- they do the running, we use our experience :)
10weeks turns into 10years. Wow, thats a great story. Fair play to you all. Yous must love it. Ive been playing weekly since I was in my 20s. Just 5asides etc but that suits me. Missed a year here and there(injuries/traveling etc) but pretty consistent. Its an addiction! I just absolutely love playing football. Its a great way to keep in shape and its really great for the mind. This injury wont stop me for long (:..
Creatin kinase MB is the enzyme, for anyone wondering.
Damn I thought you would die for a second 🤣
🤣
Wait what?! Does the Enzyme realse a bit before the heart attack or imidietly when it happens or like minutes after?
Because if it's not the last one then in the (hopefully not too distant) future if we have a way of detecting this enzyme real time with some inplanted device in the time of humanoid robots around us. Couldn't we save so many lives with robots imidietly getting pinged when someone is having a heart attack in their room and rushing to save them while medics arrive?
looks like he really got the air knocked out of him. Makes sense of course since he got hit right where his chest, especially his lungs are. Had something similar happen to me while playing foorball once but instead of another player, the ball hit my chest whith a lot of speed.
As a goalkeeper, this is something I need to be prepared to face every time. Really makes me sweat ngl.
Literally got so worried
Same. He couldn't fcking breath
It wasn't that he didn't see him, but the impact was much, much more intense than I think either player expected. It was difficult to watch, I hope he is okay.
That isn’t a foul? The romanian player nearly fucking died
The same player gets excused for a fake dive after. That could lead to the second yellow card at 0-1. I feel we got robbed of our chance to fight.
No that horrible tackle on Bergwijn in the first half should have been a red card for Romania. You would have been 0-2 down with ten men. I mean if we are talking hypotheticals
Also taking is not a yellow card offense...
What horrible tackle?
The one with two feet that caused Bergwijn to be subbed off in the break. He could not continue...
If you think Dumfries committed a foul than this one should be one as well. Yet crickets...
Pissed of Dutch because they didn't humiliate us in the first minutes. There is no horrible tackle.
14th minute Marin on Bergwijn.
And the two almost penalties.. one the defender diving inf don't of shot clearly indeni g his elbow to save it but too close to call penalty. Second one the hold of the arm which could have been penalty but still too close.
Overall justice was for Holland go go thru without any suspended players
I don't see what rule this would fall under to be called a foul. Remember that it doesn't matter how much he gets injured.
He hit him with his shoulder straight in the neck? I bet you believe the imaginary fall of that diver in min 80 is an actual foul lol
I think it's the other way around he hits his neck into the other players shoulder. Both clearly don't look at each other, and then these accidents happen.
Not saying it was with intent to harm, but Dumfries clearly raises his shoulder into the contact.
you off your tits lol, the romanian player did not even see the dutch one coming...
the dutch player clearly saw the player before he ran at high speed and put his shoulder out..
Dumfries was running towards him at full speed not even looking at the ball .. i get you support the netherlands but you can’t be this biased lol
he's looking at the ball until right before impact? reckless for sure, but don't make shit up
I don't support the Netherlands, but this thread here is just a reaction to the injury and not the foul.
How can you say dumfries was not looking at the ball?! This is nothing more than 2 players wanting to control the oncoming ball. 1 with the head and the other with the chest.
That they came together and he got that badly hurt is a shame. But there’s no need to point a finger at anyone.
Tf you take on your daily basis you should stop it. Dumfries clearly had a mentality there to either take the ball at any cost even if it meant cancelling the romanian defender. It was highly stupid and irresponsible behaviour from him lol.
So what’s the right tactic then? Backing off when you see the opponent running towards a loose ball to avoid contact? It’s a football game. You either never played football or are just biased against Dumfries. He challenged for the ball, and got the first touch on it at that so he wasn’t too late. Not his fault that the opponent also went for it and they made contact. The contact was just very unfortunate
He didn’t have a chance for a ball almost at all and the romanian defender didn’t see him at all. Idk what he expected from this encounter.
so just because you look at the ball :)))) you can do anything? That's just a shitty pretext it is not arguable that it isn't a yellow but the question is ..it is a red? and maybe not but at the minimum should have gotten a yellow then a red when he dived
He saw the yellow shirt and most likely thought the yellow shirt saw him too. He didn’t look directly at him because a ball was coming. It’s not up to Dumfries to protect his opponent when going into a duel for the ball. Just as it’s not up to hos opponent to protect Dumfries.
It’s never a yellow. If you would have given a card here it’s purely because the romanian got badly hurt
They were both running towards each other looking at the ball. One is at fault because he runs faster?
If what you are doing can severely harm the other player, it should be a yellow.
At least yellow, Mogoș (the Romanian player) couldn't even breath.
One gets the ball, the other doesn't. Go figure
Don't be dramatic. Just a coming together
There were players who ran into goalposts, I saw no cards for the goalposts either.
Both Look at the ball and crash together. why would it be a foul?
Cause Dumfries went full speed on Romanian defender that couldn’t even see him.

Varga didn't have a seizure, he had a fencing response as a result of his concussion. This can sometimes look like a seizure if you're not aware of the difference.
The hit that gave him that concussion also wasn't worth a card, it wasn't even a foul. Both Varga and the goalkeeper are within their rights to go for the ball, and Varga took an accidental elbow to the head.
In fact that incident is a perfect example of how getting injured in a tackle shouldn't impact whether it's a foul.
And then, when we don't touch Dumfries, we get our attack halted and a yellow on Stanciu.
That's one hella bias there.
People don't understand that we didn't expect a win. Even with a fair-play ref, we would have still lost. We are not pissed about the loss, we are pissed about the unfairness of the whole situation.

I don't even think we are a vocal minority tbh, we knew we will lose against Netherlands as soon as it was decided to play against them.

Exactly. I'm happy that we got to this point, I'm not blaming the team for losing against a team that's way better. I hope we'll be allowed to go to the airport when the team comes back.

Yep, știu comentariul ăla. Nimeni nu critica mai mult România ca românii
Proud of the boys regardless of the outcome.
They fought as much as they could. Lost morale after the injury, so I understand why they couldn't fight as good later.
Hopefully they will do even better at the World Cup!

Hello from Scotland. Still raging here about the penalty we weren’t awarded! 😂
How is it possible for the match ref to be an ex cheat who was suspended for match fixing? I think it was clear from before the game he would favor one team.
And some of the dutch fans are such hypocrites claiming that it wasn't intentional...sure, but what would you have said if it was the other way around?
They could have beat us without help from the ref, it's just pathetic that the big teams are still helped like this.
Where is the respect and the fair play?
Where is the respect and the fair play?
What's that? Haven't you seen the comments after the match lol? It's not enough that they won, the dutch are the first I've seen making fun of romanians for losing and then telling us we're sore losers =))
Zwayer's performance today again... as expected unfortunately
"Didn't see him" how do you not see the 1,86cm tall player wearing yellow? And the bracing before impact (even though he claimed he didn't see him) c'mon man.
1.83 is the male average for young males so it's not that special there. But basically, he looks at the ball, he is aware of the other player. He is optimistic about being in control of the ball earlier.
a way for the Dutch to say "we are tall guys, mfs"
I know i speak from a place of bias, but it kinda looks like he is angling his shoulder to properly control the ball with his chest, as if the defender isn't there. He also doesn't really look at the defender in the run up, so I can see how he can say that he didn't see him.
From the replay, I would argue it's unlikely he didn't see him at all. He came sprinting from maybe 10 metres (?) away. To say that within that distance he wasn't at least aware of the Romanian defender there is a little hard to believe. I know "eye on the ball" and what not but if you're running forwards at the speed he was to intercept the ball, you know there's a player there. It's not like he was running looking over his shoulder.
The one who "didn't see him" would be the Romanian player by virtue of his back facing the oncoming Dutch player.
The angling of the chest to control I would say is simply because that's the level at which the ball was when he arrived.
I would say it was likely the Dutch player believed he could get to the ball first (he did) and gain control of the ball (arguably he did because he was first to the ball), but didn't really expect that he would end up shoulder barging the Romanian player in the way he did.
Edit: Looked at the replay again, the shoulder movement to me feels more like a shoulder on shoulder challenge as opposed to trying to control the ball. Due to the jerkiness of the action.
Looked again, but then maybe it doesn't seem so jerky...
In any case, I don't believe he didn't see the Romanian player.
That was freaking intentional. Blue player saw yellow player and engaged with shoulder, he wasn't interested in ball at all. Must have seen red card and no döner kebab for the rest of his stay in Germany.
At that speed and angle there was not much else he could do but turn his shoulder and brace for impact.
he could for example not came in with that speed and with that intention...
he was not going to make the ball from that far...
play stupid games, win stupid prizes, should have been a dark red card imo.
bro what. very stupid and reckless, but got almost got to the ball
Could say the same about bad tackles, someone gets the ball and the other player misses it. It’s a dangerous play and endangering the opponent, that’s a yellow minimum
Both arrived at the ball almost at the same time so what gives you the idea that he was not going to make it?
I don't think he meant to hurt his opponent here, it seems like he anticipates a duel for the ball but his opponent turns inward, making the collision shoulder to chest instead of shoulder to shoulder. That being said, he comes in wayyy too fast and should've 100% received a yellow card for that.
You get yellows for dangerous play by raising your foot even when the oppo stoops for a header. This was so reckless
Maybe because a fucking foot with spikes is more dangerous than a shoulder.
he was far enough and also not high enough to consider a foul or dangerous play
Am I really stupid or does this look like at least an orange card at best? (I know it doesn't exist, just an expression)
Its a red
Its not red.
That was intentional. He puts his shoulder in and prepares for impact while Mogos plays the ball. But no surprise, given the history of this ref.
It's pretty clear. They guy is coming in with a 100 Mph on the blindside of a guy. The Romanian player is defenseless against it. It's so reckless it really should be a red. Putting other players at risk like that is a red card.
wow...every other nation agrees with us at least for a yellow only the dutch are like "OH MY GOD it was just a coming together "like what the fuck bro? "he looked at the ball while colliding" dude what the fuck? you can fake that so easily he clearly couldn't get to the ball first the positioning eveything was better for our player that should have been at the very very least a yellow but probably a red tbh it's too reckless it's absolutely too much and those arguments just do not have ground to stand on.Red this early in the game and we could have absolutely won even if we didn't expect it
WTF, this should have been red card. Don't tell me he was not seeing the Romanian player.
Twas at least an immediate yellow, if not red post VAR review.
Dumfries either went to do him, or, was so reckless, he endangered his opponent.
Hopefully the lad will be back in no time!
A red card??
You're an idiot
Well... good argument! 🙈
To be fair, yours was of similar quality.
"You're an idiot"
that was a straight red card.
we know you support the netherlands, but dont be biased please.
It was not a red card. If it were I'd be the first to tell you.
Well a bit too late for that, dont u think? Unless u own a DeLorean DMC
I trust you /s
Hi Felix, it's OK, you had a tough game to play 12 people with the Netherlands, aren't you German though? I would expect you to be biased as a referee with Germany matches, but I think you can be a referee for your own country and you went with an alternative.
How is that 300€ bribe btw? Did you waste them all yet or?
Ohhh that's rich 🤣 sure my guy, it was the ref who made you lose. Like did you even watch the match?
xG 0.3 vs 2.8
No. We expect a loss. Don't worry. We are used to them
We just wanted a fair game with yall, especially since you have good fans that are supportive too, it was a nice "battle". But whatever
It was indeed a great battle. <3
That's why I think it's a shame to put it on the ref.
I don't think winning is worth cracking Hagi's head and leaving another player flat on the ground.....not cool man...
It's football, can't blame them. I can blame the ref thou
Wasn't the ref that cracked Hagi's head and destroyed that other player... but it's an easy target.
No, it was the ref who didn't even give a yellow.
If it's unintentional should it be a yellow? Weren't they both looking at the ball?
If its reckless play then intent doesn't matter
running fast isn't reckless... otherwise Mbappe would never be allowed to play.
Well it doesn't really matter now, he has plenty of time to recover at home.
You can’t tell me that was unintentional lol
That's what the OP is saying not me, take it up with him, it's even in the title of this post!
tell us your know nothing about football, without knowing nothing about football.
You can't even get through overused saying correct you dickhead. Lol
Hagi fouled the defender and took the worse of the collision. This play here, while not intentional, I've seen given as yellows. Hagi saw he wasn't going to get to the ball and tried to ram into the defender and lost. To try to blame that on the defender is asinine.

This was anything but unintentional. He has a K1 tackle that nearly crippled another player before that.
Dumfries is just an asshole.
Uh a tough guy. So scary just being in the same thread as a real man like you
Funny, if you had more courage you wouldn't feel so insecure about urself kido
Okay tough guy
Ur welcome son
🤣
"Cracking Hagi‘s head"…with a completely legal, accidental contact after he came from behind him…
Dumfries wasn't even really following the ball ffs
Personally he leans in with his shoulder and it’s dangerous so I would probably give a red for that.
Luckely you arent the ref.
you are a bias mf
Nah
yeah
The Dutch being violent? I'm shocked.
The fact their team hasn't been banned from tournaments already is crazy. 2004, 2010, 2024, etc.
“Probably”???? He clearly shifted his shoulder to insure he’s making contact.
UEFA should do better assigning referees.
Also, I would love to see some punishment after the game review. Like some North American leagues issuing supplementary discipline for this kind of dangerous behaviour. 3 games suspension for intent to injure. 🤷🏻♂️
The shoulder shift is also necessary for controlling the ball, so we don't really know.
jesus why are you such a cuck for netherlands
the ref is german dude
Even worse. Defending a guy from your narionality even if you know he did bad
Im questioning the utility of VAR in situations like this. Its been many times this tournament when VAR simply closed eyes on potential hanballs, ofsides, fouls and foul simulations while players started to exploit the referee's lack of sight in many situations.
FIFA only option is to red card him post match and suspend him, between this and the high kick flop that robbed Romania of a breakaway when it was a one goal match, just disgusting really
Shhhh… don’t say anything bad about the referee… the oranges will downvote you 😱
Nah, a card was necessary here
a red one.
refs are really bad this euro's..
i have seen wrong corners, goalkicks, throwins being given to the wrong teams..
faulty penalties being taken..
dive's so obvious without a yellow card, in fact they would rather yellow card the player who the dive is against.
time wasting to extreme and given 3min extra time, no time wasting or interuptions in games but 8 min extra time given..
this euro's has been really shite.. and a lot because of the bad ref decisions, while they have VAR but only use it whenever they want.
dont forget the spraying the field at half time and when we go for another extension... like players are already falling where they stand.
some very weird choices being made.
The Dutch team has a history of being absolutely dirty mfers against opponents they fear may cause them too much trouble. Look at the 2010 WC final against Spain.
insecure fucks
Dumphries should be yellow carded (along with Pepe) before the game started.
De Jong looking proud at the television
The ref is a fucking asshole
This is a yellow card every time IMO.
Forget intent, that’s a yellow on force alone
The dutch here are such insecure pricks here. Despite winning the match they can’t admit to the obvious mistake of the ref. Is everybody a man child in there?
Imo, the dutch player knew what he was doing.. he could see the romanian player and he is clearly watching the player before he puts his shoulder out... at that speed..
that could been a straight red card...
Its not about if he could see the player, it was if it was intentional. I dont know why this whole thread thinks its about sight, they both run for the ball, both thinking they can get it before the other one.
The player in blue knew exactly what he was doing, he was deliberate.
That's a yellow as a minimum.
Fuck VAR
Jeez, didn't see that.
Not sure about unintentional.
Why the fuck was Hra not a red card
I am not discussing am I just stating why the collision was painful
All the Romanians salty the lost 🧂 hahahaha
How is that a foul?
That's a foul all day long. He even turned his shoulder into him last second.
Yes, going full speed into an opponent without actual chance on the ball and using your shoulder as an active weapon is somewhere between yellow and red, depending on the injury of the other player. in this case, a very very dark yellow
People watching football once every two years think every contact is a foul or something. This was just a collision.
A collision that was a foul
This. Lol @ your downvotes. They are delusional.
They just ran into each other ... How is that putting the player in danger? He didn't kick or swung his arms or anything he just braced for impact.
He braced his shoulder out after seeing the player. It is that hard to grasp?
Could've cracked his ribs and punctured his lung.... Was reckless from Dumfries, really surprised not to see var involved, if you're running like a freight train you should have the awareness not to put other players at harm.
The other guy was running just as much. What are you even talking about?
I mean the other guy is standing still and just turning around… Nowhere near is he ‘running just as much’, he never saw Dumfries coming.
Dumfries twisting his upper body to hit him with his shoulder full one. Should have been a card
lmao, the cope
OK, I'm Dutch, supporting our team. This was still a card
It's not about the intention, its about endangerment of the player. In this case, Dumfries lack of awareness could've and might've caused a serious injury. Hence it's reckless, intentionally or not.
By that reasoning the other guy was equally unaware. Dumfries literally just stood there. He didn't do anything dangerous.
I hope your video player is broken. otherwise, please visit an eye doctor.
im embarrassed this guy lives in my country...
Romania plays in yellow, not the other way around Dumfries was literally full speed sprinting
Mogoș was the one who "just stood there", while Dumfries ran full speed into him and he, in fact, injured Mogoș. You can literally see it in the video 💀
Roger, stop embarrassing our country please. we are not this stupid.
cmon man... do you only watch the euro's, world cups but never club soccer?
that was red..
you cannot argue about that if you know the rules and see football on a weekly base.
at least someone is being sensible in this comment thread. very salty romanian fans here
Both players moved in each other's direction, whilst looking at the ball.
Stoppage is mostly just due to medical emergency, rather than severity of the foul. Body charges are part of the game, and no foul. This is even unintended, so just a normal clash of bodies.
If players can't touch each other, it is not football.
Both players moved in each other's direction, whilst looking at the ball.
Nah, both moved towards the ball, but the thing is that one of them saw the other and the other couldn't see him coming.
So it's not an "equal" or "normal" clash of bodies.
If players can't touch each other, it is not football.
Of course, but not sure why you considered needed to mention this lol
Yes that probably hurt. Yes he probably had the wind knocked out of him.
But can we stop pretending that this was some life altering injury? I've seen harder hits put on 14 year olds in my local rugby club.
He is fine. Relax everyone.
Well looking at the replay the Romanian dude forced his chest forwards to block, looked painful
What are you talking about man? I get your Dutch, but how are you spitting out such bias, pinning this on the Romanian player? He's just going to chest the ball, can't see Dumfries. "Well looking at the replay" Dumfries is clearly aware of him because he braces and sticks out the shoulder.
Not pinning anything mate just stating what happened and why they collided the way the did

the romanian player had nothing against dumfries sprinting towards a ball he could never make.. without intention to hit the ball and just put his shoulder out against an opposing player that had no speed at all.
that was red at best, no discussions can be made over this lol
