What’s on your watchlist? Any upcoming shows/movies you’re looking forward to?
The finale was batshit and not in a good way. The jumping from scene to scene somehow got even worse. I've seen improv that was more cohesive than this show.
Yeah, I think at the beginning of the season I might have recommended the show but after watching the whole season I don't think I would. Totally agree about the lack of cohesion, they really tried to link all the storylines together but it simply didn't work
It seems like they're planning another season? Hard pass. I hope Kristen Wiig and Carol Burnett had fun making it, at least.
I watched The Fall Guy, the first half drags a bit but overall i enjoyed it and the dad rock soundtrack.
Last week, I watched Past Lives (on showtime and Paramount+) and it was SO good.
I watched two films this weekend, The Idea of You and Nobody (2021). Last weekend was Challengers! I want to watch more films so I’m excited I fit three films into one week, especially with my poor attention span lol.
I enjoyed The Idea of You and now am in love with Nicholas Galitzine. As a former One Direction girly I was enjoying the obvious Harry Styles references (I saw that this was once a HS fanfic? Correct me if I’m wrong). It was steamy but cute and I want to buy whatever house Anne Hathaway’s character lives in.
Nobody was pretty good, I didn’t love the violence (the bf wanted to watch it and would cover my eyes at the violence LOL). I thought it was so neat to see Bob Odenkirk in this kind of role and he kicked ass (literally)!
Of course Challengers was fantastic and I want to rewatch it. I could go on and on about the film but I’d just be repeating what’s already been said, so I’m just excited to see all three leads at the Met Gala tonight!!!
Also I’m a long-time lurker of this sub and this sub has been motivating me to watch more stuff, thanks y’all! :)
I retract my comment in last week's thread about the current season of The Circle on Netflix! The most recent four-episode drop was PEAK reality television. I'm actually sad the finale is this week - it felt like the game was just beginning to get started.
Baby Reindeer on Netflix! Also watched the Roast of Tom Brady on Netflix and why is it 3 hours long
I know the entire story behind Baby Reindeer, but I could not get past ep 3. The string of one horrendously bad choice after another on Donny’s part made him totally unlikeable and unwatchable for me.
I think it’s supposed to be one of those shows where you dislike the protagonist too. He’s an unreliable narrator.
Yess there were points in the show where I hated his character!! His choices definitely made it tough to watch at times.
That and his particular brand of “wacky” prop humor is just so bad.
Watched Unfrosted last night on Netflix. Absolutely absurd but worth the 90 minute investment. Late to the party, but last week finished Masters of the Air. I loved it, flaws and all, but what was even more great was discovering that my husband's grandfather flew in the 100th as a b17 pilot. We have his foot locker in our attic - looking through it again after watching the show was incredible!
Unfrosted was cute! I loved Masters of the Air. I thought the fighting was really visceral and the vulnerability of the pilots really affected me. My grandfather was a bomber and German pow so I felt more like I knew him as a young man. During your childhood you just always think of your grandfather as an old man.
So cool that you have that foot locker!!
WOW!
I posted a few weeks ago about not seeing the genre bending aspect of Sugar. Just watched the most recent episode and...WOW. It's been a while since I was truly floored by the creative swing a show is taking!
Trying to watch The Idea of You but can’t stop watching TikToks of people clowning on Drake
I watched The Idea of You this weekend and liked it! It checks all the rom-com boxes for me. Not to mention I can’t stop thinking of Anne Hathaway’s character’s home in the film, it’s gorgeous
Finally finished and I LOVED it
Hacks is back! The first two episodes were fantastic, I especially love the ending of episode 2. Excited for the full season.
I could honestly watch an entire episode consisting only of Deborah and Ava texting each other.
YESSSS. It's so good. I missed this show so much.
I was a little apprehensive about this season bc I loved last season's ending so much and thought it was a perfect series finale - but so far I agree it's fantastic!
I was whelmed by the Palm Royale finale and the show in general, though I did really enjoy Kristen Wiig's Is That All There Is scene! I definitely think they should have cut almost the entire storyline with Laura Dern and the feminist bookstore, the season just felt overstuffed.
