Would you rather recieve $50,000 passive income deposited into your account or recieved in cash, or anyway you could want it? Or recieve an instant 50 iq point raise. You'd feel like you took the Limitless pill, and still be yourself. No outside forces you just, from one minute to the next have your IQ raised up by 50.
Seriously with 50k a month you don't have to be smart.
nor beautiful
I don't think you want people to be attracted to your money.
A lot of people will find me extremely beautiful and attractive on an effortless $50k monthly income.
Yes I'm saying you probably don't want that if you want a meaningful relationship.
A fool and his money are soon parted.
There'll always be another $50k next month
Tell that to the broke lottery winners...
You can't go broke if you always get another $50k next month.
If i remember correctly, in the movie Limitless which is what OP is referencing, the main character learns how to stock trade and makes 2 million in like 2 weeks just by investing.
It doesn't matter how smart you are, if you make 2 million in 2 weeks, you got lucky. The smartest person in the world would be smart enough to know that the stock market isn't an ATM.
Nah, you just need money to make money. Buggest issues with stock trading is that its during the times of a 9 to 5 worker and also because people don't look to profit 1-5% profit margins. You just need familiarity with stock in ways that would slightly increase their value and bank on that slight profit to make that slight margin.
But why worry about that when stock trading is tedious and hard to get into and 50k monthly is over 1k a day for just existing.
Yeah. Stocks aren't a magic bullet unless you have stocks at an insanely low dip then they rocket up due to some event. Most of the time it's small growth over a period of time.
And to make that small margin equivalent or greater than $50k guaranteed every month, you need a large amount of money to invest in the first place. That 50k invested conservatively, or even half, will make you absurdly wealthy anyway.
That's fair, but that sort of money is speculative and inconsistent. A good day trade could maybe turn 50k into like 300k within a year if they stick to 1-3% net profit daily.
Idk if 50 iq points makes you a prodigy of a stocktrader, but 50k is cash you will always have. Basically richer than a surgeon for 0% of the effort.
The extra 50 iq would only really help if you're already in a good position. If you're struggling its unlikely you'd be earning 300k soon
Limitless also has someone retroactively learn martial arts from having watched action movies. Y'know, something that requires muscle memory, building up your body, and training to do, so take it with a very large grain of salt.
But 50 IQ points won't be enough to get you that point. There are people with 160 IQ working as Uber drivers. Intelligence requires a lot of work and other personal characteristics to amount to anything much, and in most career fields it has diminishing returns beyond a certain threshold. If being a few standard deviations smarter was enough to turn a random novice into such a brilliant stock trader, then several financial firms would already have teams of quantitative analysts implementing a similar strategy and the opportunity would evaporate. Individually maybe nobody on the team is quite that brilliant, but there are plenty of people who are both intelligent and experts in their field, and they can achieve more working together than one person can on their own.
I don't know how you'd quantify the boost in Limitless, but they were essentially superhuman, not just well above average.
I might consider the intelligence, but only if you factor in benefits other than purely monetary. Money too has diminishing returns on happiness beyond a certain point.
Upping your IQ can also be a negative. 50k a month cannot
Someone clearly didn't take the IQ points. You forgot about taxes. And they tax passive income especially brutally. You can't deduct anything from passive income other than passive losses. And good luck finding one of those. And if your passive income is too high they take away ordinary deductions that everyone else gets even those with high income that isn't passive. It will take you about 3.5 years to be a millionaire assuming you don't spend any of it.
I'm "smart enough" (ie not really) to know I can't do shit/am not smart. I have learned to be very content with being a pawn in the grand scheme of things.
Upping the IQ would probably just turn me into an ambitious schemer to try to achieve XYZ ideals that just sounds like a LOT of work, induce megalomania and invite trouble.
Sure...I'm spineless without drive but at least it doesn't become "You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become a villain."
$50K will keep me very content while doing more feasible good (donate etc).
Happy Cake Day!
Thanks!
Stupid
You're more likely than not to overestimate your intelligence.
50iq points is ~ 3 standard deviations above average.
Even if you don't have the income of 500,000k / year, even if you start below average at 90 iq, you are a certifiable genius at 140iq. You are smart enough to not weigh the quality of life -you can pursue- against hypothetical wealth + a lobotomy.
Being a certified genius just leads to being miserable and broke most of the time. It’s not worth it
I might be stupid but at least I have 50k
Anyone who takes the 50 IQ points will probably immediately realize, with their newfound intellect, that they should've picked the other option.
being smarter can be lonely.
easily the 50k/month.
I.Q isn't what we think it is. It's not like an intelligence stat block for a video game character where you would become able to comprehend things you couldn't before, it measurers reasoning ability and one's ability to make predictions off of incomplete information. People who are highly intelligent do have a high I.Q but getting a sudden burst in IQ does not mean a sudden burst in actual intelligence, as the two are related but not necessarily intertwined.
Even if I did become that much smarter (like with the limitless pill( , there is no accounting for motivation. I don't know about you, but I'm not using my current intelligence to its full potential. Why would a sudden jump in ability cause me to suddenly change my approach to things?
Limitless pill gives you drive and motivation in the movie
True. Man went from a drifting leaf in the wind to running for president, if I remember correctly. We skipped through a lot of details, but he became a master at multiple things in a few days, and quintupled his investments in the span of 3 days. With that kind of intelligence, you wouldn't be making 50k a month, more like a million a month.
I don't know about you, but I'm not using my current intelligence to its full potential.
this is such a great point, give me the 50k per month
Because it'd make things that are currently hard easy. Same amount of effort, more work done.
I'll take 50k a month. IQ increase won't do squat for me. 50 + 0 is still 0.
Well at the very least, it might help you remember the difference between addition and multiplication ;)
My limited IQ, and you dare to throw knowledge and learning opportunities at me? How dare you. I'll weep into at least a few grand for this dismay.
This is such a sleeper comment and I'm glad I scrolled down
Maybe just for you the other option would be better
My IQ is fine. I just suffer from a lack of money.
being smart =/= being functional so 50k for me. i'm already relatively sharp and completely useless when it comes to project completion 50k a month would make sure that it didn't matter if i was productive or not - i could have people for that.
50k month will essentially allow me to invest almost anything i earn from business and live wherever I want. +50IQ would just add to my depression. GG.
I initially read this as $50k a year or 50 IQ and was debating it in my head, but $50k per month is just such an easy no-brainer.
I feel like that's the big thing about these hypothetical situations is that one of the options is always just too good to pass up.
600k/year in passive income is just too much to pass up. The intelligence would only be food if it made you smarter then a super genius
If I had an extra 50 IQ, that would put me in amongst the smartest people alive today, but I'd still be me, with all my flaws, weaknesses and health problems.
If I had an extra $50,000 a month I'd still be me, with all my flaws, weaknesses and health problems, but now with an extra $50,000 a month.
No contest
I don't need 50 more IQ points if I have 50 000$ a month.
Remember: It doesn't matter how smart you are, if you're a lazy fuck to begin with you'll still be miserable
Lots of very smart people aren’t wealthy. And wealth can buy an education. Which isn’t the same as being naturally smart but still pretty good. Not to mention all the other things wealth can buy
I'm smart enough already. Doesn't pay the bills.
I actually think 50k is a better option but I'd be way too curious to not pick IQ
*takes the IQ pill* "Fuck, I was so stupid, I should have gone for the money."
50k/month
I got already enough IQ for mensa and "normal" ppl dont know how hard it is to be intelligent person in the middle of average persons. My brains just bleeds and cry.
50 IQ points take an average joe 90-109 (50% of population) and puts them in the top .4% of the population. With 600k a year, you can improve your life, and your family's life. Being one of the smartest people in the world allows you to help solve some of the difficult science questions we're working to solve. Perhaps you solve fusion, perhaps you solve radiation problems in space. Being the person to figure out fusion would net you much more than 600k a year.
Sure in theory I could leverage the 50 IQ to work for a better life and circumstance or I can just take the 50k a month and already have what I could get with the 50 IQ + a bunch of work.
I'm already intelligent.
Intelligent enough to know that if you hand me 600k a year, free of charge, it's going to do far more for me than moving me up 1.6 standard deviations in intelligence, as all the intelligence in the world won't do shit for you if you don't have the resources to use it with.
Not only that, but being smarter doesn't make you automatically happier, even if you're acutely aware of how to get what you want. It's a blessing and a curse. At least the money you can donate or give to someone else if you don't like how it's changing you.
Just take the test 10 times. People who take multiple IQ tests avg 5 points higher with each subsequent test. It's almost like IQ doesn't actually mean anything.
Up to 5 points, not avg.
I mean if I feel like the limitless pill I would take that. I don’t think that’s necessarily a function of 50 more IQ points but if I could feel like I’m on adderall but smarter I would take that. 50k a month is a lot though…
I'd be stupid not to pick the 50k a month. If I want to get smarter later all I need to do is enter any collage I want for 50k a month.
fuck yeah cold hard cash
I’m a lazy piece of shit so I’d just be more acutely aware of how unproductive I am so I’ll just go with the 50k a month
50k a month is 600k a year, or about what I would be making as a smart, highly motivated person who wasn't born wealthy.
I can use a decent chunk of my 50,000 a month to pay private tutor(s) to learn stuff if I truly want.
50k/month is a weekly wage of 12.5k
That amount of money would allow me to retire and actually go to university and study astrophysics like I've wanted to, but couldn't due to life.
That 50k would allow me to be smarter than the 50iq points would
You'll get 50 IQ points and realize you should have taken 50k a month.
I am sorry but 50 IQ points is not the limitless pill. an average person with 100 IQ going to 150 IQ is not really gonna notice that much of a difference apart from understanding some random stuff they didn't before. The pill would need to be insane, like another 300 IQ or maybe even more to make you feel insanely intelligent.
I take the money every time.
People way overstate the benefit of IQ
I know plenty of idiots who are making six figures easy because they picked the right job. And I know plenty of geniuses stuck in a dead-end job because of one reason or another
600,000 a year even accounting for inflation would basically take care of me my whole life yes please
I have enough IQ points to know to take $50K/month here.
People totally underestimating the limitless pill here
- Every additional "IQ point" equals how much more you'll be annoyed in life by stupid people AKA low "IQ point".
- IQ does not determine intelligence, it's more on the lines of "working memory". Although there is a general consensus that higher IQ people are smarter and it's sort of true but it's not smarter in a useful way.
- 600k passive income is a no brainer. Then you could spend all of your free time learning useless information and get your 50 IQ points within a year or two.
- If I had 600k passive income, I'd be spending all of my time surfing and enjoying life...
I'll take the cash.
I generally score 125-135 on the tests for what little they are worth, and I know a couple of people at the 170-190 range and they cannot socialize in any meaningful way. (I guess nobody understands them properly).
So, free cash, enough to retire, or social isolation...easy choice.
uhhh, no, it isn't, and even if it was, an IQ would be the worst metric by which to raise functional intelligence.
Just off the top of my head, i can confidently say that rational action and defeating fear are more important to self-worth than being able to solve a rubik's cube quickly
do you think that people who, say, are shorter are also less valuable?
$50K/yr.
My IQ is high enough, and nobody hires or pays salary on IQ points, that I know of.
I'm smart enough to know that becoming smarter won't necessarily be helpful to me or others.. Whereas pretty much all my problems would be solved by an income of $600k a year, so.. :D
600k a year for doing nothing? Hell yeah
I read it in the context that my IQ will be lowered to 50, so I probably need the extra 50+ gained IQ...
I already have a Mensa-level IQ. Cash plz.
50k a month... as a car guy that sounds like heaven...
Gimme the caaaash!!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7EkIYU4Y8Q
50k please.
I don’t need more IQ points in life, it would probably just make me more depressed.
IQ isn't even a good measure of intelligence. I'm taking the money.
Now we're talking!
50K a month. 600K a year, which you can quite comfortably turn into much more via investing, or you can have fun with. +50 IQ doesnt do much, as you could have 170 IQ but still suffer from other issues, making it somewhat redundant
I feel like the people voting for the IQ points probably really need those.
You pick 50 IQ points just to become smart enough to know you should have taken the $50,000.
Ignorance is bliss, no thank you i'll take the easy life.
I'm intelligent enough to know that having an IQ that high would just be depressing. I mean yes, I'd probably be able to do a LOT more, but intelligence doesn't exactly reveal the joys of our world. It would also isolate me even more from interpersonal relationships, and I don't think it'll unlock the secrets to immortality or anything that 50k a month can't get me.
Also, IQ is a very flawed metric, so I interpreted your question as intelligence instead. My answer is the same either way.
IQ isnt everything and does not equate to overall success or smarts.
i already am relatively smart and still depressed, so 50k and i can at least be depressed without worrying about money.
Brother I chose the 50$ a month in the previous poll so of course I will chose the money.
For my reasoning I posted on the last pool, I would choose the other options aslong as it's not negative since I don't see 50 IQ points as positive.
I may be stupid but I'd rather be stupid with money.
For anyone around average or better IQ, being 50+ points higher would be super alienating.
Once you’re above 120 or so you’re ‘smart enough’ for pretty much anything and how much money you make is correlated very little with your IQ. At that point it’s much more about luck/connections/already being rich.
At risk of sounding elitist, having 150+ IQ would literally be the most isolating thing in existence. Everyone would basically be talking in slow motion and you'd always feel unfulfilled that no one else can engage in "The dance of the intellectual" on the same level as you. I'm taking the money and keeping my modest social life.
I think it would be really funny if I took the 50 iq points and was immediately like "goddammit now I'm smart enough to know the $50k per month would have been better!". I still take the 50iq points though.
$600,000/year for doing absolutely nothing? Sign me up. I'm smart enough to understand that being smarter isn't going to be me any happier, maybe it'll even make me more pissy when people are slow on the uptake.
Money... also won't necessarily make me happier, but it would free me up to live a life where I can just do what I enjoy. I could even still continue to invest it and earn bizarre huge paydays.
Is that tax free 50k
I'd like to think I'm moderately smart now, graduate degree in rigorous subject, fairly curious mind etc. etc.
50 IQ pts and I've become top tier smart, and while the 50k/month would be nice now, if I truly understood markets and how to game them, I feel like the payout is greater with a big noggin. I'd probably be behind for at least a decade or more, but then vastly overtake 50k/month which is only 600k per year, not even an order of magnitude more than I make already.
£50k a month, easily.
Almost always take the money. Being smart does not mean being successful. but $50k a month lets me hire smarter people than me for various functions of my life.
If you can prove the income that should be enough to qualify for a loan on a house and enough to pay all your bills including the loan over time. 50k a month you made it. WTF do I need IQ points for anyways just give me the money.
I'm smart enough to realize that raw intelligence does not guarantee wealth. Wealth is largely attributed to luck and your social standing at birth.
50K/ month is an extraordinary amount of money, that is enough to build a dynasty. If compounded annualy for 35 years (7% +/-2%), you would have between 51M and 118M.
I like this question. Both can turn into a curse very quickly and both are much deeper than they appear at first glance.
If we assume the IQ would lead to functional intelligence, not just pattern recognition (which is probably the point of the question), there's a very fine bandwidth where this would be useful. For those starting at a low intelligence (say bottom 20%, 80iq), this would bump you into the top 2%, but instead of competing with 8 billion people, you're competing with 160 million. High impact on your own intelligence, but low ability to affect change relative to where you were. If you started at a relatively high intelligence (say top 20%, 120iq), you'd bump yourself to being one of the smartest people in existence, but you were already smart and, hopefully, taking advantage of that. Again, high impact to yourself, low impact to affect change relative to where you were.
Money is a very inefficient tool for doing anything. By it's nature, money has diminishing returns; the more you have of it, the less each additional dollar means to you. If we're creating the money out of thin air, you'd be choosing to be a parasite and drain off resources from everyone else at the cost of inflation. You could buy a nice house, nice car, even support a good family, but that'll take one or two years. What would you do with the rest of it? Bring extended family out of debt and into prosperity? There's an equal likelihood you'll kill/alienate as help with an abundance of resources. Invest in businesses and grow your community? How much do you trust yourself to identify those opportunities when there are people specifically trained to do so that have a decent failure rate? Maybe you just stash it away or give it to charity anonymously. Great, but you've given up an immense opportunity with the original premise to just not do anything. What a waste.
I'll take IQ just to fuck around and find out.
I'd take the 50 IQ points. And then I'd be smart enough to realize I screwed up.
$50k/month would get rid of a lot of problems for me. +50IQ would probably add more problems. I'll take the money, thanks.
Could I surely make more money being incredibly intelligent? Probably.
50k a month for existing sounds way better.
Don't need a higher IQ. Not having to work sounds a lot more beneficial.
Money, hands down.
1) With that much money, I don't need to be smarter. Hell, $600k/year is several times over what I make in a year.
2) Most smart people I know (like, proper genius level smart) have a terrible time getting on in life because they just can't relate to others (success is largely a social activity) or they over-complicate everything.
3) At this stage in my life, I don't even know what I'd do with all that extra intelligence. Meanwhile, wife and a few kids, $50k a month is everything.
i may be just a little stupid now and then, but i can guarantee that anyone that takes the 50iq will very quickly feel very stupid
I'm already smart enough but hasn't helped me earn good money...
Thank you! That is actually a dilemma! Well done!
Gimme the money. My intelligence already isn't the rate limiting factor for my capabilities, it's my ability to focus for extended periods of time.
$50,000 per month is enough for me to do whatever I want without worrying about financial issues ever again. Frankly, I'm smart enough. Would more intelligence be nice? Sure, but it wouldn't significantly change my life or what I'm capable of. If I really need more intelligence, I would just pay for more education at that point, I could more than afford it. 600K per year for no effort at all? That would be a massive lifechanging event that would also let me help my friends and family.
"Like you took the limitless pill" is far more instructive than "IQ raised by 50 points". IQ is kind of a shit measure of intelligence. IQ tests how good you are at taking IQ tests.
If genuinely "Limitless" pill, I'll take the 50 points. If it's just 50 IQ points, I'll take the 50k.
I love myself, and I love my life. If I could have the exact same setup, but with more money? Obvious choice. I can't think of a tangible benefit that 50 IQ points would give me.
i dont need to be smarter. I would rather be dumber. Dumber people always seem happier.
Okay gaining IQ increase every month sounds pretty cool I already have a IQ of 102 I know that's not Albert Einstein's genius but that is good enough for me so I rather have $50k a month income $600k a year for the rest of my life cause I'll basically be a rich man I mean do you know what I could do with $50k a month almost anything I mean I know it's not a million dollars but I rather have $600k a year even after taxes I still be well off I could afford to move out to a better place another state a better apartment building complex I could afford to invest in rental and commercial properties and in 48 different stocks dividends companies 24 monthly stocks dividends companies and 24 quarterly stocks dividends companies to make $144k a month $72k a month and $72k quarterly I could afford to go on vacation and have a good life.
$50k a month $600k a year I'm going for money
I care a lot less about money than improving myself
Going from kinda smart to genius would be cool but my overall quality of life would probably go down if anything.
Having 600k a year means I can spend my life however I wish(within certain limits).
what am i gonna do with 100 iq lol
For 50k a month, I’ll hire a group of people to make me feel like I gained 50 iq points!
WHERE DOES ONE SIGN UP?
I'll take the extra IQ. A mere $50K is peanuts compared to what I could do with that much extra brain power.
Option B, my IQ is now 200. I can now do literally anything, people will pay me millions a month.
I've got plenty of usage for $50,000, but I don't know what I'd accomplish with a 50 point IQ raise, so I'll take the money.
Raising IQ thinking it makes you more intelligent would be like using a sharpie and tape over your thermostat to cool your house.
IQ is bullshit anyway
Excessively smart people are typically depressed and frequently have problems maintaining social relationships.
I don't care how smart you get, it's 100 to 1 odds you'll ever parlay that into an income exceeding half a mil per year.
Never mind that I can easily live on like 2-3% of that $50k and invest the rest, and within just a few years, the investment income could easily exceed the original $50k/mo. You don't need a sky-high IQ for that, just a marginally competent investment strategy and a good CPA come tax time.
I downed need a 140 iq
whoever voted for IQ will instantly realize their mistake
Passive income:
Pros
- Money for no added effort for as long as you're alive.
- Staying alive easier now with that much passive income.
Cons
- OP didn't state if tax exempted.
- Inflation is going to hurt (50k USD may not have the same value in future).
- Money spending WILL be out of control.
+50 IQ:
Pros
- Earning money possibly easier now with more high paying jobs open to you.
- Managing resources is now easier (you're smarter, spending more wisely).Cons- Income still requires effort and is also still taxed.
- Improvement depends on your current IQ (i.e. if your base IQ is 40, you now have 90).
50k a month
It's still alot after the US IRS takes 7,943 as taxes in Washington State
20-25 years ago, I would have taken the IQ. At this point in my life, the money would be more beneficial.
50k a month means I never have to think again. This is an incredibly easy decision, even without the extra 50 IQ points.
IQ is a load of nonsense. Give me money.
I'm reasonably smart, but that's life changing money, and getting smarter isn't going to fix my social anxiety or sleep apnea.
50 IQ, I'm already intelligent, I want the next evolution of it, make me think in mathematics
I'm already very content with my IQ of 143, so I'm choosing the $50,000
I'm too lazy to be smart. Give me the money
For a one-time payment, I would take the IQ, but I'm already smart enough not to let go of 50k a month :)
I feel like the higher the IQ, the more depressing the world is. So I'll take that 50k
Those picking the cash are the most in need of the IQ with a 50 boost in IQ you would go from average to the top 0.7% if you were unable to talk you would become average that 50 points is a lot since average is just over 100.
if you were even slighty above average you would be possibly the smartest human ever
I think a pretty big misconception is that higher IQ always equals better choices, more intelligent, etc.
You can be significantly more educated than someone with a significantly higher IQ. Hell, they may not even know they have it. And even if they do, sure, they can pick up on certain things a bit more quickly, but certainly not everything. They're still humans, after all.
The lost IQ points will undoubtedly lead to bad decisions for the money that likely get you in jail, hence the IQ points should win.
Well 50 extra IQ points isn't going to help me all that much, yeah I have it easier to be taught, that doesn't change my crippling anxiety, my extreme social phobias, my blindness, or anything else. However 50K a month and in a single month I'd make 5 times what I make in a year currently so... I'm going to go that route, cause even if I got that a single month every year I'd be doing so much better. With that taxes could come out and I wouldn't even care, even if it was a solid 50%. cause that'd be 600K a year yeah you can have that I don't care I'd still be super wealthy at that point.
For $600,000 a year in residual income? Sign me up!!!
I would be able to get a house, a reliable vehicle AND invest in my business to the point where I could start generating more income and even hire employees.
Nah being 50 points higher would be a very lonely life. High IQ can be a curse as you meet very few like minded individuals and will lack any kind of engaging conversations/stimuli, you'll be bored with everyday life, its problems, and no one would understand you, so, yeah no thanks I don't need a more lonesome life.
Gotta be the IQ for me. Maybe then I’ll finally understand all of the subtle nuance in Rick and Morty.
I didn't realize it said a month, so I need this iq boost
I'd probably just fill that space up too fast with garbage trivia, cash is the smarter option.
Your first thought after getting the IQ points is going to be "Should have taken the money."
Listen, with that capital I can pay other people to be smart for me.
I would take the IQ points then smarter me would realize: I am a dumbass for not taking the money....
I would even tak 50 grand a year lol
$50k a month is enough to give my kids and not have to worry about them going hungry ever again.
Hmm, an IQ of 85 sounds mighty nice, but I'm gonna take the 50k.
extra iq points just sounds like more work, free munnies pls
If you're retarded enough to pick the IQ points, you probably do need them.
$50,000 a month easily. My intelligence is at a level that I'm happy with by comparison.
I already make $50k per month and done as much as $75k per month at one point with well above average intelligence (but not Einstein level). Add another 50 IQ points and I'd be near unstoppable.
The movie Limitless does not realistically represent high IQ · or at least not IQ levels within reach of humans. It goes beyond that. 50 extra IQ points and you're probably still not the smartest person in the past 100 years.
I'd take the money. No question.
Source: I, uh, have a friend with a really high IQ
anyone who picks the iq points really do need those points
high IQ doesn't equate to success in life, so give me the 50k
IQ points is a pseudo science.
Whatever idiot thinks 50 more IQ points is a good idea is too smart and poor to appreciate how true happiness comes from being dumb and rich.
should have been 50k/month or 50 iq/month ..
or +50k once or +50 iq once
OP having us compare an apple vs infinite oranges..
Unless your IQ is below average I see no reason to take the 50 IQ points. I mean, what are you going to do with that extra smart? Start a business? Become famous? Mine nft's? You don't need to be smart for that, you need to be brave and decisive and have some funds to kickstart whatever you want to do. So yeah, 50K is the better option.
I feel like adding that much intelligence to a person would fundamentally change that person. You might alienate your family or loved ones. Who knows, but I'll take the money.
50k and it's not close, +50 iq may make you a genius but that doesn't mean you'll ever will be in a situation to effectively use that boost
I am already probably smarter than I have any right to be. I will take the money and run.
I may be dumb for choosing IQ, but that’s the reason I’m choosing ut
I said it before and I'll say it again, being rich is the ultimate superpower.
Give me the $50k/mo and I'll hire someone with a 185 IQ to do my bidding.
I'm not stupid..... I'd take the money. ;)
I know a lot of highly intelligent people who have been unsuccessful
I'd take the money. I don't know the exact number, but I'm already considered to be somewhat high functioning. I'm already spending much of my time bored, and being challenged by trying to learn new things, express myself artistically, or come up with new stuff at work are some of the few things keeping me from spiraling too deeply into depression. An extra 50 IQ points would be like playing a game with too many cheat codes turned on and life would lose all of the fun.
I have a high IQ. It's the gold star sticker of the adult world. Get that money.
Blessed are the stupid!
I just retired, I could give up 50 IQ points. I'll still be able to travel and do gardening, and I'm sure my last job took more than that.
Higher IQ is correlated with higher rates of depression. This question is basically "Would you rather have money or depression" lmao
I choose the money, 50 more IQ is nowhere near Limitless level intelligence, even starting from a baseline of 150 and moving to 200.
50 IQ isn't enough to offset the loss of 50k/month
Any already highly intelligent person would be obligated to take the pill, provided we're talking about a significant boost in actual intelligence and not just speed.
Obligated because the benefit to our species could be massive, either through creating something new, or averting something terrible.
This is actually a hard one for me. I make decent money now though. I've always felt like my brain was compensating for some damage or something, so I don't care how stupid it is. I'm taking the 50 IQ points bump.
I mean, that intelligence sounds nifty, but 50k a month is just too much to never consider for an average person. That's 600k annual passive income so long as you're alive.
You're a millionaire in 2 years for no effort.
