I had a '60 Cadillac that wouldn't fit in the garage.
So I measured it and it was 19' from grill to fin.

My das had a Chrysler Brougham that was too big for our garage, too. And, it was only a two-door.
My Caddy was a Fleetwood Brougham 4 door.
Brougham must have stood for too big for the freakin' garage. I always wondered.

Imperial was a model like, not a division. Chrysler was a division, along with Plymouth and Dodge. .
Incorrect. Imperial was its own division of Chrysler Corps. for several years in the 1950s. It later became a high trim model of Chrysler when the economy stagnated and luxury auto sales declined.
Same for Valiant in its first year, 1960. After that was badged under Plymouth brand.

The lady who lived next to us when I was in high school had a car with a radio-style push button transmission. Only car like that I ever saw.
Rambler had that for a while.
Coulda been. That was 50+ years ago and details like make or model have long since faded away.
I had a Rambler Ambassador that had 'automatic on the dash'. 65 or '66, I can't remember.
My very first car was a ‘63 Rambler Cross Country wagon with the push-button shift on the left of the dash I bought for $300 in ‘76. Reverse went out the second day I had it haha (probably why the previous owner sold it). I took off the two “R”s on the grille, and switched the remaining letters so it said MABEL on the grille and that’s what I called her.
Love it! I actually had two Ramblers, both wagons, both with push button drive. One of the buttons in one of them screwed up, I can’t remember the details, but my broke self discovered that a Bic pen with the guts removed fit perfectly over the nub left inside. I drove it that way for the rest of the time I had the car. Makes me cringe, now, thinking about that pen sticking out of the dash, but that was a long time ago and I was invincible then, LOL.
Knew a guy with I believe a 66 barracuda had push button transmission
64 was the last year for pushbutton on Chrysler products.

My uncle had a car that looked similar- we called it the Batmobile. Pretty sure it had that crazy pushbutton shifter.

How in the hell did a Chrysler Imperial get to Europe in 1961? Maybe not, “how” rather, why and who?
In the UK, it’s about 10miles from US Airforce Base Fairford, that would explain how it probably got here.

Chrysler Imperial when the car makers were having fim wars.
We had a Plymouth with these fins in the early 60s. Plus, our last name was Finn, so it was a little joke: “There go the Finns!”

My folks had a Plymouth with those fins. I kinda remember it as a young kid in the late 60's. It was grey, the Ol' man called it the Grey Ghost.
