I'm not sure what's worse on Aurora, the prostitution or HomeDepot's outrageous candy prices
DiscussionYeah, but somehow their planks aren’t -nearly- as warped as Home Depot’s.
I can't believe how much they charge for deli meat at Best buy.
Who buys candy at Home Depot ?!?
Dads who had to take their kids with them while they were picking up something for the week end project.
Contractors who bill the entire receipt total to the job.
Had a one time plumber come to fix something, I was pretty sure I had all the parts he'd requested, said he needed more stuff at Home Depot. At the end of the day, the amount he quoted me was too high and he said it included the stuff from Home Depot. I asked to see the receipt which he didn't want to show me. Said I wouldn't pay him without it and, sure enough, he repurchased some of the items i'd already provided (so he could use them on some other job, I'm sure) along with 4 beverages, 3 bags of chips and 4 candy items. So, yes, the munchie prices at Home Depot are insane. I paid what I actually owed him and nothing from that receipt. Or the hourly rate he charged me to actually GO to Home Depot for stuff he didn't need to get.
**edit for extra word**
Scumbag plumber. Seattle has died indeed.
I guess what irritated me so much is that he thought I would just not question his b.s., but, hey, if it's worked for him before...
**Oh, and another thing, just because someone says they are licensed/bonded/insured, and even when you check with the state on some of that, they might very well have done everything needed to satisfy the requirements so that they could say they were licensed/bonded/insured, but that doesn't meant they didn't pull all of that stuff afterwards as I found out with a window cleaning company who seriously scratched up every single window in my home and then told me they had no insurance to cover it. Beware and require them to prove all these things and that they are current. Being on "Angie's List" does NOT guarantee compliance, as we learned the hard way.**
😂
You can’t entertain your kid at a hardware store? Jesus my kids think that place is like Disneyland
That’s why they put it at the checkout
Ah I misunderstood what you meant. Yeah, new parents: don’t ever say yes to candy in the checkout aisle, or your kids will nag you for that shit every damn time.
I should've read this three years ago lol
Nobody said anything about not being able to entertain them? It’s at the checkout so they see it on the way out and ask for some.
Yeah someone else pointed that out and I responded. Here’s how you deal with that: “Hey kids! Let’s go to the hardware store!” “Yay!!!!” “No candy at checkout tho!” “Awwww!” “You still want to go?!” “Yay!”
Thanks do you have more parenting tips I can subscribe to?
Oh I got a ton. I convinced my eldest that her tongue changed color when she lied. She didn’t let us get away with that with her sister tho
Setting expectations!
I'm pretty sure most of my pokemon gameboy hours were in the lowes tile ailse, just make a choice Mom!
Or people in the middle of a project that are feeling munchy…
When you're pissed off that you're there for the third time today because you forgot the most important thing you wrote down but forgot because they put the 4 1/2" diamond blades in a different aisle than the flap discs so you got distracted earlier and when you're in the checkout line for that third trip you realize half your bad mood is from skipping lunch
You Hangry Bro?!
Were you following me through Home Depot? Seriously, if I have to go back, the candy is motivating to keep on with the project. Since the alternative is saying fuck it and pouring a drink. Once I'm in project manager mode I hate stopping.
Our HD is right next to a KFC/A&W combo drive through. If I’m mid-project and hangry, I’ll drop in there for a chicken sandwich and root beer. Hits the spot and is only $20
You know you are numb to Seattle prices when you say only $20 for a chicken sandwich and drink 😂
People who are using their business accounts to pay for whatever they need from Home Depot for whatever job they are working on that day. It’s gets them back to the job site quicker than stopping anywhere else and it’s psychological that they should reward themselves for their hard work that day.
No different than hot dog trucks in Lowe’s parking lots. You’re already there for work. Might as well grab something quick to eat so you can get back to work and get home sooner.
Also if you’re laboring all day and head to the hardware store, blood sugar might be low. Cravings never worse than after I work in the yard all day
Me. Contractor who doesnt want to stop somewhere else for lunch and gets a payday
My dad buys a coke and snickers every time he goes. It’s the male equivalent of going to target and buying a grande frapp or whatever
Who buys candy at Home Depot ?!?
You can give the candy to prostitutes
People in the SeattleWA subreddit
Plenty of people.
Construction workers and contractors that are putting it on a company card being paid by someone else
Literally the only place i buy candy its a reward for having to go to home depot lol
Me.
I go there for the prostitutes
Employees who put that shit on company credit.
Someone's getting fucked either way.
Hey man, ones a kind of fucking that leaves you temporarily satisfied.
Snickers satisfies.
REESES PUFFS REESES PUFFS
lol
Aurora Ave North: Seattle's year-round Halloween destination. Trick or Treat.
Christmas too, Ho, Ho, Ho! Coming down the chimney!
hangry construction workers are easy marks
So are horny ones
Im in construction and its only the older ones that might go for it. I havent met a single younger guy who would. We all know how stupid that is
If the candy costs that much, I can't imagine what the prostitutes charge. Either way, I'll pass.
You could just not buy the candy 🤷♂️
And not post about it?
Probably the prostitution because you can go to a different store and get cheaper candy but you can't get a cheaper prostitute😂😂
That is for the write-off when it gets stolen.
Police report:
$5,000 - Snickers
$2,000 - Doritos
$50 - Plywood
Could be worse like, someone named Candy selling on corner of Homedepot
Oh man, she's at the home Depot? She'll probably give you a hand job and then mow your lawn for like 80 bucks. Candy is a real go getter.
Prostitution? I thought they were "day workers" that you could hire to help with your project as you left Home Depot!
dang 3.18 for a payday smh
King sized tho
3.18 for a payday…
Prostitution is a problem for some, but gouging hard working people at the candy aisle is universally frowned upon.
You can choose not to use prostitutes. Wait… you can do that with that garbage they call food also….
Save money and your health: eat apples instead.
Dates and dried figs!
Apples are expensive rn too though! 😂 kidding, they’re still a better option than candy fasho
2 oranges at safeway yesterday cost me 4.49 + tax. That's just insane.
The Sumo Mandarins are practically that price for one.🫥
I decided against a grapefruit because one single fruit was over $2!
I bought a cold pressed juice for 3.99!
Post TSA Security has numerous shops that sell below these prices! WTF?
All the profit goes to self check out maintenance since they are overused as only registers available
Either way if you want some sugar you’re going to have to pay for it.
it's a pretty rude reach to lump service providers(prostitutes) with garbage ass retail(homedesperate).
You deserve to pay that much for buying candy at Home Depot
It’s baked into the price on your estimate lol
Home Depot is like that everywhere. Busy contractors might throw those on the receipt for other materials and it gets rolled in to the final bill so they feel the impact less.
Have you looked at 7-11's candy prices lately!?
What's wrong with the prostitution? Is the price of that going up, too?
Shows you what Home Depot thinks Bout it's customers. Your busting your ass all day contracting. Want a snack to keep going and they ding ya on the way out. Big businesses have become so greedy for the stock holders and forget about their loyal customers
Candy looks better
Maybe some of her ladies will offer a free Snickers.
Damn! I remember when candy bars were a nickel. Yes, I am old.
When my kids were little we avoided all Home Depot’s, Lowe’s and craft stores.
Why do they all have 4 dollar candy bars?’ Lol
I met a lady at that home depot named candy. She said $50 for whatever you want. So I drove her back to my place and made her install new tiles in the kitchen.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 this made my day. Thank you.
A $20 goes Farther on the corner than it does through the check out line!!! 🤣
Prostitute Candy’s prices.
At least you can take kids to Home Depot. Lowe’s on Aurora ? That’s an education they don’t need.
3.37 FOR A FUCKING KINDER EGG?!??
My work gives HD cards to some of the crew members. when i go thru receipts there is always candy and pepsi's (like a lot) that the guys are buying on the company cards. while onesie-twosie is okay, we had to actually clamp down as hundreds of dollars a month was spent on just candy and pepsi. the exorbitant prices didnt help
Seattle would not exist if it was not for hard working women
$2.68 for a Snickers bar, $2.48 for m&m's? Probably more than $2 of profit for each item.
What are you talking about? Those are king size bars.
This is not 1997, things cost more now.
It's for the regular 1.74 oz size
Just curious, what would you expect to pay, and where? And for a single item not, "I usually get Snickers cases at Costco for 26 cents per bar."
It’s a Snickers Michael how much could it cost $10?
Last week at Kroger a regular sized Snickers bar was $1, on sale.
This isnt that crazy. Candy at any gas station is not far off of this
$2.68 for a Snickers bar, $2.48 for m&m's? Probably more than $2 of profit for each item.
Candy bars aren't remotely that profitable, but soda is a real winner:
https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/KO/
I used Coca Cola as an example of a good investment, in a post I submitted yesterday
It’s the prostitution
If you don't want to lose your shit, don't go into the Walgreens. 12 pack of pants is like $13 or something
$13 for a 12 pack of pants sounds like a deal to me. That’s better than Costco prices.
Nothing wrong with the former…… it’s the oldest profession known to man. No need for the morality police.
There's 2 very different populations involved in this market for sexual services performed on men.
One involves adults who are engaging their personal agency to make a living doing a professional service with a high demand, that comes with various risks and challenges, like any job does.
The other population children and vulnerable adults who have been roped into playing an active role in their own exploitation and trafficking, groomed by predators to become their income stream, kept compliant through threats and pharmaceutical intervention.
There's certainly some degrees of overlap and grey areas between these 2 populations, but they are not the same group.
Conflating them as the same is bad for both groups.
Agreed. But both populations are deemed illegal.
Yup, in large part because they are treated as the same.
Both populations need more legal protections from abuse and exploitation, and those who exploit abuse, or pay for the services of trafficked individuals definitely deserve legal repercussions.
Criminalizing a person being exploitated, OR criminalizing an individual engaging their agency to offer a service they feel comfortable doing to make an income, in either situation is puritanical fundamentalism which keeps the market open for men seeking sexual services, but punishes those individuals who men would seek to pay.
definitely the candy prices
I need some more data, what’s the current going rate for hookers on Aurora right now?
Depends.
Are they a midget?
- Price of candy at Home Depot
2 Prostitution
- Price of Prostitution at Home Depot
Oh Aurora, one candy or the other, regardless pay up lol
it’s both
Bro what, I’m taking my business to Seattle that’s crazy
This are truck stop prices
That’s normal pricing here in BC
Hehehe, dem hookers be everywhere!
I'll be honest,I have picked up many a wayward lass on Aurora, mostly for BJs.
It’s a good move because sugar can raise risks in our health.
Home Depot's prostitution prices are pretty outrageous too.
How are the prostitution prices, though?
Candy’s not gonna pay for itself
definitely home depot. at least the hookers are up front about their morals.
I’ve lived here too long and I’ve been conditioned to high prices. These don’t even look bad to me. cries
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Snickers for the win
Cut out the middleman; handy for candy!
Why support home depot at all?
Buying any food at Lowe's and Home Depot is like going to Mega Motors for a car that isn't a rust bucket shitbox 3epo'd POS.
This is why theft is a civic duty.
Dont buy candy, not good for you.
how much for an old fashioned?
It’s not a grocery store 🙄
That is Called a profit center in retail. Takes advantage of people with no self control/in a rush.
Child slave labored cocoa and refined sugar. Its like complaining poison costs too much.
With prices like that I can’t decide whether I wanna give myself the diabeetus or the herpeetus
Usually I'd be made with prices this high, but I hardly considered food anything in that picture food, and none of it is healthy.
Except for Payday. That is worth it at any price.
Hate to tell you this but I’m originally from the Midwest and I can tell you there’s no variation of candy prices between the PNW and Midwest. Candy is stupid expensive but prolly for the best
Simple don’t buy candy at homeDepot
Preying on the ADHD smh
Candy prices
Still cheaper than Walgren's!
Need to wait for pay day to buy PAYDAY
I’d say the curvature of HD planks
They complain about shoplifting but they deserve to have their shit stolen if they’re price gouging like this
LOL
Just eat a carrot!
Definitely the candy prices.
Vending machine prices.
That's whore rates. If prostitutes is out getting it, they need snacks. HD is just capitalized on supply and demand. Bevs probably expensive too and they're probably the only HD that stocks condoms. Get money!
They’re already marking up on the big ticket items, they can afford to cut you a break on the nickel dimey stuff
Bidenomics...
Home Depot pro tip: Put everything you need in your online cart before you go, if it's in stock it will tell you what aisle and bin to go to to find it. Sorry, does not apply to candy. :-)
It’s like that everywhere.
Not in Seattle but eastern WA, local circle k is 4.19 for a regular sized candy bar
I miss the days of 4 candy bars for $1
They are both considered expensive candy..
Would the hookers work for candy? Hmmm...
Just trying to compete with 7-11.
Asking the real question. 🫡
That’s cheap try living in Boston
I work at a gas station. Home Depot candy looks cheaper.
Well if you're gonna remodel your bathroom or build your deck with chocolate, you should expect to pay a little extra. 🤷♂️
I want to indulge myself but $4 for a Snickers?! No thanks— I’ll just go outside and get a blowjob.
There’s candy at Home Depot?
what’s wrong wit th prostitution?
Just steal them
Home Depot 😆 🤣 😂 😹
Bubs, grab me a pop, some chips and a bar would ya?
Sugar is expensive in all its forms
Why are mentos the most expensive candy???
Disgusting
I ain't even that old and I remember when candy bars were under 70 cents
Probably the human trafficking
righttt???? i just what a damn snickers ughh
You shouldn’t be eating this junk anyway.
You don't know what's worse between men paying for the coerced sexual services of vulnerable girls and women... or inflated prices for sugary snacks?
That's facetious, right?
I honestly can't tell if you're serious, knowing this sub.
It’s obviously a joke.
Why would prostitution be bad? Give these people a job
😂😂😂
The prostitution is nuts. They don’t even try to hide it. A handful of days ago I drove past a woman standing on the street corner with nothing on below the waist (she may have had shoes on…don’t remember). She was actually a block or two west of Aurora.
We are "seeing firsthand that the lives of individuals in the sex trade have become more difficult and dangerous because of the unintended consequences of the shutdown of Backpage and other legislative changes. We see this reflected on Aurora Avenue in Seattle (also known as “the track”) where there has been a reemergence of street prostitution. Today you can drive down the street and see women lined up on the sidewalk on one side, and a group of men (pimps) monitoring them from the other side of the road."
The horror, the horror.
Oh Seattle, you jokester
Prostitution is a victimless crime…candy inflation on the other hand 😂😂
Definitely the sex traffic is worst. What’s wrong with you ? What a weird heartless joke .
Definitely the sex traffic is worst
Agreed. Now try convincing Seattle City Council.
Our heritage lives on.
Imagine how expensive plywood in QFC.
