A breathtaking view of the earth during a space walk outside the ISS
BuT tHeN yOu WoUlD sEe ThE sTuDiO sEt ItS sTaGeD oN!!?!
/s
And this video proves, without a doubt, the earth is a disc. As the intelligent viewer can clearly see. There is a defined edge.
“Dammit Carl, we don’t believe in outer space”
“You fell for their malarkey trap again!”
I was thinking the same!
Terrifying.
You wouldn’t see anything except the sun’s glare
Kinda makes all the in-fighting and bs seem pointless
Makes me think of the Rick and Morty episode where they find the snake planet. Their civilisation is a complete mess with tons of warring nations and then Rick laughs at the fact that the reason for their conflict is race when they are all just different types of snake and how ridiculous it is to be concerned with what type of snake they all are.
Silly yes but also a poignant message given that humanity is exactly the same. We have everything in common yet we fight over our few differences.
My thoughts exactly!
And here we are, voting for people who can't even fathom the beauty of the world we live in. Such a dissonance.
Always has been. Seems like brutish people always try to ruin what we have. While the rest of us just want to enjoy it while we can.
It does until you think about what people are fighting to stop from happening
Gorgeous. And flat earthers will say, CGI. What a beautiful world we have
Was about to say how we still have flat earthers in today’s world . 1200’s you can see why . Maybe it’s time ro take the biggest most respected flat earther into space
Go to r/globeskepticism they’ll find a way to explain it away and say they “got to him” lol.
Just had a glance , up there with anti vaxers . Lost cause
I feel that. Still entertaining…sometimes. Other times just frustrating and sad.
Some anti vaxers just went on holiday to Costa Rica and reinfected the country with measles after it being eradicated for 30 years, these type of people are Darwin’s theory of evolution deniers . Feel like we should make a safe haven to put them all in as a collective , they could then argue with each other.
Yeah it’s the worst. I hate that so much. Now some of them are turning to rabies vaccine for animals. It’s just insane
Funny read through the sub though, tbh. So many people unironically proving themselves wrong constantly.
I shouldn't go there. I really shouldn't. I'm not going. Nope. Not me. Not doing it.
Oh damn I did it.
Wow, that is really a special group of folks right there
Had no idea that sub exists, holy F these ppl are dumb to the sun and back
I’m a flat earther, please take me into spacecto prove me wrong.
Do you belive in UFO’s?
You mean pigeons?
What do you mean? I took a screen shot of this on my phone, then set my coffee cup on it. Perfectly flat! You can't deny science.
Because that is their ultimate goal. To get to go to space for free under the guise of it's flat lol
Sign me up as a flat earther if I get to go up there!
Well we can find a common ground, the earth is both round and flat, like a dish. You can literally see it in the video
You’re a dish
Look how flat it is! /s
Look how curved the image is. With that lense even your living room floor would look like a ball
BrO, iT's ObViOuSlY fLaT, lIkE a PlAtE!
About 3 1/2 years ago? I got to have a conversation with the real flat believer. I remember being angry that you were showing me stuff on his phone, because the cell phone works. I remember him having an explanation for that. That said, I spent that night on YouTube watching in fascination hours of flat explanations
I've watched a bunch from interest as well. I find that many of the theories are surface level strange and interesting but most of their arguments boil down to picking and choosing which science to believe in.
I had a couple friends of roommates believed in flat earth and they weren't stupid, so we could have detailed conversations. It was just frustrating that their arguments were like "have you been inside of the rocket ship that supposedly left earth? If not, you can never really know right?" It's like, only believe the science you can see first hand and prove, except for our flat earth stuff because people have shown that's real in simple videos. Like mf all the science that makes the world work is right in front of you! Your phone, a microwave, the internet, combustion engines, electricity! It was just intentional ignorance and bias. Frustrating.
Exactly, although it would be entertaining to see a zoomed in picture of people walking upside down! That's the one bit I'd like to see one day!
Well they never use a normal camera that shoots a decent image without distortion
Interesting to note that they are currently travelling at 17,500mph.
Fast enough to see 16 sunrises and sunsets every day
To the rest of us entitled population of the planet; it is moving at a speed of 27600kmh or 7.67 km per second
Yeah that's what amazed me the most in this video: the speed they are moving above our planet.
That’s incredible. How do they test such a fast machine?
Yes you are right. Breathtaking view because it's space, without oxygen supply no one can breathe.

Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there - on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors, so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds. Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the Universe, are challenged by this point of pale light.
Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves.
The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit, yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand.
It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character building experience. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known.
Carl Sagan .
What is the noise? With no air to transmit sound, what’s that sort of whooshing noise?
Yeah I'm wondering where the rustling sound is coming from too. Maybe from inside the helmet? There's no sound in space
The rustling is likely vibrations on the camera body or holder transmitting to the actual camera. Maybe the background noise is just a microphone defect? I can’t imagine they bought an expensive microphone to use in space…
Maybe it’s radio static and the rustling is the mic tapping on the helmet/astronaut
Those sounds are the microphone simply picking up (via conduction) random vibrations in the camera body due to handling.
The microphone is attached to the astronaut's body. Any vibrations will get picked up. Could be airflow moving within the suit.
This feels more like something from r/SweatyPalms That is terrifying to look at.
Came here to say this. It made me so uncomfortable.
Oh yeah? If that’s the actual planet earth then why do I see a curvature? Nice try.
If you notice, you can see the space station moving at a rapid speed.
I was just looking at how fast you can see the earth rotating. It’s insane how fast they’re going.
The ISS travels at an average speed of 17,500 mph(29,200km/h).
This caused me to tear up. So beautiful, so fragile
Once in a lifetime view and it's in 360p?
That's something I'd kill to do, but then I remember my knees start shaking at fourth step of a ladder....
If it helps, astronauts in orbit are so high up that your brain doesn’t really tell you that you might fall. You lose all sense of being at a great height
Woah! I thought this was a guy crawling out of a boat at first 😂 then the fear of heights kicked in :|
Fun fact, when you’re up that high, you lose your sense of altitude, which sometimes makes it even scarier because you don’t know how high up you are.
That high up, altitude is just a number.
Was wondering where all the conspiracy lunatics are, but then realized I'm not on Facebook.. Fb has gone super mad in few years. It's entertaining
I abandoned Facebook 5 years ago and it made me a much happier person
I'm in fb mostly only for few retro game groups and for the mentally unstable. Can't remember when I last posted anything..
I wonder what continent that is?
Comment from another sub:
"Mexico from west to east looking roughly N to NW for the most part. Starts over the Pacific and crosses over the west coast near Barra de Navidad.'
Although I'm torn between believing this comment and another that claims it's "OP's mom".
Lmao. Missed that one
Anyone else get an urge to jump?
Is there actually a static sound like this in space or just something the mic picks up?
It’s probably on the inside of the suit
There’s no sound at all in space. Sound needs a medium
i think there is some athmosphere where most satelites are parked.
Parked?
Yhe you know; hand break on reverse parked so they can fly off very easy.
Just gotta turn the tires towards the curb so you don’t roll.
Could be from the air and cooling system in the suit, could be interference, radiation, all sorts of things. As for the discussion about atmosphere in orbit, there still is a tiny amount, but it's so little that I doubt it's enough to transfer sound. However, that suit is packed with air inside, and if it's a headset mic, of course it'll pick up sound transmitted through the suit. Which brings me back to the static. If the mic gain is cranked to pickup those suit vibrations, it's going to have distortion. Always keep in mind that the tech they're using up there was designed 20+ years ago..... They're not constantly updating stuff, because if new tech doesn't mesh well with old tech, it could be catastrophic. They'd rather have 100% reliability, than bleeding edge. Look at the space shuttle computers. When it first flew, the computer systems in our homes at that time were way more powerful than the computers on the shuttle.
There’s no sound at all in space
NOPE!!!
Imagine being so high up that it stops being terrifying.
Altitude is just a number at that point
Crazyyyyy to speed up the video and see the earth rotation, this view must be dope as fuck
But ThE eARtH iS fLaAaAAt!
Wow, you really can see how the thin layer of air/ozon layer. Its looking very fragile.
I'm here waving hand, you see me?
So very beautiful
Flat earthers will say it's AI lol
Heellooo. You can see the string guys. This is fake. Bible said so. 🤣
This is what space tourism should be. Just floating out on a space walk, looking at the earth and stars, with a recording of Carl Sagan in the background.
If he took of the helmet that would be even more breath taking
Beautiful 😍 🤩 👌
I will never not be sad that I can’t go to space.
Is that low hiss in the background the space suit's pressurization system?
Breathtaking hell! I remember an astronaut (can't remember who) talking about his first time out. He did his job, as far as I remember, then he turned around and looked at our planet and he said something to the effect that he felt like he shouldn't be seeing this. Something like that. I felt like I could understand. How much more profound does the human experience get. I mean, I put the first earthrise photo on every phone I get because, to me, that is profound. We are all in this together. Whatever other bullshit we concoct to divide us is rendered unto dust for me in that photo. But then imagine living it. If only human experience could be funneled through the same channel. But then whose funnel and channel blah blah blah. We probably hunger for gods to escape this problem of agency.
air leaking or is this the sounds of the ISS ?
That’s either the astronaut rustling around in the suit or noise from inside the camera.
But no sound in space
Yeah, but there’s sound inside a space suit
Key word: inside
Seeing shit like this is TRULY BREATHTAKING (probably spelt that wrong) - It is facking amazing....man
It’s crazy how we’re all just on this beautiful blue marble together and we still find ways to have each other and start wars and conflicts. I wish everyone could see this view. I feel like a lot of peoples outlooks would change
Did someone explain sound transmission in space? I’m jw it’s kinda weird that’s a thing I thought
Sound needs a medium to travel through. There is barely anything in space, that’s why they call it that, so sound cannot propagate. Every sound you hear in the video comes from either the astronaut or the camera.
These are the luckiest people, these astronauts. The ones that get chosen to go into space for these missions. They do deserve it though with the intelligence and education it takes to even maybe have a chance.
The white noise of space
I think I can see my house!
What land mass is that? Africa?
Thinking the same
if only they knew what a shit show it is down here these days. I'd be staying put!
They're not incommunicated up there, lol. They know.
They're not incommunicated up there, lol. They know.
Why didn't you wave back? :'c
It‘s crazy to me to see the world literally rotating
Well, it’s rotating, but what you are seeing is just how fast the ISS is travelling. It circles the entire planet it just 90 minutes.
Beautiful vid, but made me wonder if an astronaut with vertigo or even just a fear of heights could do a spacewalk like this, looking down at the earth?
I don't particularly like heights, put me on a 20ft ladder and I'm pooping it and clinging on for dear life
However I've been up to 3000ft in a glider and at that height it looks like your looking down on a model and the whole fear of heights goes away because it doesn't feel real.
I'd imagine being 100 miles or whatever the iss is the effect is magnified
That’s interesting, thanks for your reply
It’s very unlikely that someone with vertigo or a fear of heights would ever make it through the training to become an astronaut.
Nice try, round earther, but how come it is so well lighted although it’s night time right now? Ha! Won’t fool me this easily.
i didnt expect space to sound like that tbh
Space doesn't really have a sound. What you hear is coming form within the suit.
It doesn’t. The inside of a space suit sounds like that.
Absolutely terrifying 😳
What's really crazy to me is that there is no such thing as up or down
Sokka-Haiku by ThanksverymuchHutch:
What's really crazy
To me is that there is no
Such thing as up or down
Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.
Good bot, that's pretty cool!
I would give anything to be able to do this I hate being dumb and broke
Mom always said I had my head in the clouds!
Well obviously its 5G AI CGI with a bit of Microsoft Paint. Cause this shit ain't looking flat. (That's how the flat earthers in America say it right?)
Other than satisfying as fuck this could also be posted under scary as fuck. Imagine that line not working.
Watch that first step!
Must be the internals of the suit we’re hearing
...I think I can see my house!
Anxiety
I mean…all the debating over it, off this view the world is most definitely round and flat.
But, but isn't the Earth flat? ;)
Assuming that is south America I just saw him go over, the space station was doing 153,000kp/h
(2000km in 47 seconds = 153,000kp/h)
Edit: just looked up the speed it goes and it says 28,000kp/h so I guess that wasn't south America
Hey, I can see my house from there
I see me 😢
That's a no from me.
Is this or something like it available in VR?
You kbow when you fall on the rollercoaster and you feel that tingly sensation in your balls? Do astronauts feel it all the time?
Shot on apple max 3000
Earth is flat ok dis is cgi.
That view from a spacewalk outside the ISS must be absolutely incredible! Seeing Earth like that is a once in a lifetime experience
A 2-dimensional disk, just as I suspected.
So the vacuum of space sounds like white noise?
Well that looks round…
It’s so high up my hands would be weak and I would just float off lol
Round earth
How is there sound? There is no atmosphere.
And I am afraid to look down to earth from a building...
And the flatness of its beauty!
flat-earthers : “earth is still flat”
Wait what's the sound coming from
Can someone explain to me how we are able to hear the camera moving when sound is not able to move through space?
Ooo so there is sound in a vacuum
\ Insert obligatory fisheye/firmament/studio/cgi comment here **
Stunning!
Looks flat to me
Bro don’t fall.
Where is he? I can’t quite tell.
I wish they wouldn’t use a fisheye type of lens. You can see some of the warping. I mean I get why, you can fit more of a fov into the frame but it would be nice to see an 1:1 view of everything.
Intrusive thoughts is strong here😂
there’s sound?
Looks flat to me /s
How anyone can say the earth is flat is beyond me 😅
Literally so breathtaking, they have to wear a special suit to view it.
It’s crazy when you learn they actually are still under nearly the same gravity as and you and I. In fact, they’re constantly falling, but they are going fast enough that they just happen to miss the earth over and over and over again. It’s was an orbit is.
...but the Earth is flat. I mean...right?
I wonder if during these spacewalks, astronauts are allowed to just take 5 minutes to just take it all in. No reporting, no minute-by-minute comms, just sit in silence in awe of everything before them.
Hey, Ma! Get off the dang roof!
Is that México? 🇲🇽
What part of the Earth is that?
I would like to see a space shot over Antarctica 🤔
on facebook this entire comments thread would be morons claiming it's fake, with absolutely no evidence
I thought there was supposed to be no sound in space?
Honestly, while breath taking beautiful. The part that really gets me is the sheer speed you can see the earth rotate under you. Then you remember you're inside what is basically a tiny cloth suit tied to hunk of very easy to explode metal tubes while zooming hundreds if not thousands of miles an hour through the air. (how fast are they moving up there? I know its super fast at the very least)
i know it's flat -kyrie lmao
Why do these videos always have fish eye lenses tho... What's the point, it only sparks more discussion.
whats with the static sound?
This makes me incredibly uneasy
Still looks pretty flat
Nope.
pssh. the earth is flat, bruh
I didn't know you could see the earth slowly spinning like this. I dunno I thought it would be way slower and harder to make out similar to what we have on earth?
What you notice in the video is not the Earth spinning on it's axis, but the space station spinning across the Earth. On a single day, the ISS completes 16 full orbits. That is more than fast enough to be noticeable in real time.
Ah, makes sense. That was stupid of me to think otherwise.
Not at all! Never feel stupid for asking a question. That means that you're inquisitive and eager to learn. Stupid people are the ones that remain silent fearing shame and end up not learning anything.
You aren’t seeing it spinning. You are seeing just how fast the ISS is travelling. It circles the entire planet in only 90 minutes.
FLAT!!!! LOOK ITS FLAT!!!! lol that’s awesome. Makes me feel small.
1 missing reply
I want the camera to turn around and show the abyss and turn back to Earth. That would be satisfying.
