Wonder what kind of shark out was, that fin was decent sized. My heart would leave my body out my butthole if I saw that coming at me. Lol
Hammerhead would be my guess, based on the fin shape and location.
Yea originally from Florida my first guess was hammerhead chasing bait....they usually hang out around the pilings of fishing piers and make fishermen loose their minds because they snap up any catch being reeled in
As a former hammerhead shark, I can confirm your comment is correct about how hammerheads chase bait.
As former bait, I can confirm the Hammerhead Shark's comment is correct about how he chases bait.
Hook here. Bait and Shark know their shit. Listen to them.
As a former fishing rod, i can confirm i was retired from a hammer head breaking me in half while pulling in a fish and the hammer head snatching it 🤕
I think you accidentally a thing but I got it and laughed anyway, because I’m a minnow.
He doesn't speak for all of us! Not all hammerheads are disrespectful!
100, hammerhead
Nailed it.
And if it was a Bull Shark, those people would have been bitten.
Looks like it got lost and is trying to get the fuck out of there
Definitely a hammerhead based on the dorsal fin. They get huge but have zero interest in humans. If it was a bull shark you’d be right to be afraid.
Probably just a guy wearing a fin on his back
Candygram
Amway....
Plumber!
He’s only a dolphin!
I laughed, and genuinely hope your comment is true, but it's probably not.
It was swimming way too fast.
Probably had a little propellor on his feet
Makes sense.
Chasing a stingray is my guess, they love them
Why didn’t people yell get out before that older lady calmly said, get out get out?
I love how no-one says there's a shark in the water. One woman starts squeaking.
One guy says “holy shit. holy fuck!” But nobody says SSSHHHAARRRRKKKK!!!!
Yeah "SHAAAARK!!!" would be my ONLY reaction!
I'm staying quiet till it passes me as I pray to all the sea gods I can remember then slowly making my way to shore, then I'm yelling shark lol
This is a hammerhead. Hammerheads have the most intimidating and terrifying presence as they are ALWAYS massive and have a prominent fin that looks like a giant knife….. But generally, they just love to cruise lookin for fish and will likely just swim right by a human. This is a perfect video to prove most sharks have zero interest in humans.
Also, this is an old video.
IDK. I saw another shark video today, and the water looked like Kool Aid. People were screaming.
Speculation there was a bull shark. They are known to be highly aggressive.
But I just read a somewhere that sharks have zero interest in humans.
He said most sharks, tbf
“Most sharks”…… i know reading is hard man.
The 3 attacks were done by a bullshark which are basically the serial killers of the sea. They do not give a shit about anything and will attack anything for fun and will cause a lot of damage.
Other shark attacks are caused mostly by mistaken identity. Bumping into someone and taking a nip. New Smyrna has a ton of black tips, these were basically like puppies/young annoying dogs that will just nip at you. Bull sharks bump into something and take off a leg cause they are mad you were in their way.
My one friend was charged by a bullshark and he luckily fought it off with his waterhousing.
Is reading comprehension a weakness of yours? Every source I've seen talk on the matter says "most" or high percentages to illustrate we aren't on the menu, most bites are exploratory bites because that's how sharks work and we are fleshy meatbags hanging out in water we shouldn't be. Even then, they are still predators and we shouldn't get close to them if we can, just like you wouldn't a tiger or bear.
Reading comprehension is really important. “Zero interest” wasn’t mentioned in the post you responded to.
He's referencing the first comment in the chain which definitely says zero interest
You cannot make such a declaration without providing a link.
that one got two people's limbs. they were in the hospital, i haven't heard any updates today
this is an old video.
But…karma and stuff….
I've been on reddit for like 11 years and I've never seen it
edit: more like 14 years omg time is a bitch
Chronically online mfers when they see the same thing more than once love complaining
It's more so that bots just copy and paste all the old top posts, and then more bots copy and paste old comments from those posts. So a lot of the interaction you have on Reddit ends up being with bots and not actual people.
There should be a mandatory censorship on videos that relate to current events but are old if they don’t include an origin date. Intentional or not, this is how misinformation can completely influence our understanding of what is going on outside of own internal world. I assumed this was today and thought damn, ok something is definitely going on with sharks swimming closer to the shoreline.
100%, it warps your perception of reality. Online everyone and everything is horrible but then you realize most videos old and recycled but presented like it’s current and the world isn’t nearly as fucked up as it seems.
I am from California, moved to the south, it’s fine, people are nice, it’s not 24/7 racism. Used to live in SF, saw videos of it being over run by drug addicts, go back to visit, it’s fine people are nice…
Dude i fucking love hammerheads
Same dude. But i still would absolutely shit my pants seeing one of their fins pop thru the water.
Yeah most sharks have zero interest in humans, but if I saw that I would nope right the fuck out of the water just in case he is one of the few that like the eat swimmers.
After reading other people's comments guessing it was a hammerhead, I'm gonna go ahead and also guess it was a hammerhead.
With no information except your comment, I'm 100% sure it was a hammerhead.
You confirming your lack of information and your confidence in the identity of the shark has made me confident enough to agree this is a hammerhead.
I was also reading the comments and believing it was a hammerhead, and with your comment I'm now convinced.
Classic telltale sign of a hammerhead
How could they not hear the jaws music?
When I was in high school, I was at the beach standing chest-deep in the water, talking with a friend. We stopped talking when we both felt something scrape across our bellies, then the fin passed right in between us. The shark had to have been at least a 10 footer. Sobering
I think I had a similar experience once. I was at home sitting comfortably on a lazyboy. Out of no where, a common house gecko fell from the ceiling and landed right on my clavicle. I'm very skinny so when it hit my pronounced bone it made a plop so loud it even alerted my sister. I froze. The gecko froze. I'll never forget that day.
I was at the beach standing in chest-deep water with some family and had a ~7ft shark circle us. Terrifying in the moment, but looking back it was pretty neat. There was a big school of mid-sized fish that came first and the shark was just chasing em. We had a like 5-10 person group, so I think the fish were trying to use us as cover.
I just got a weird scared feeling reading your comment. lol what was that like? What did yal do in response to that?
Turn the water brown and then ran back to shore
We calmly walked our way back to shore, went and ate some tacos, then got back in the water a few hours later. We grew up in Florida and saw sharks all the time and that normally didn’t faze us but that was a little too close for comfort. Gators too - to most of us Floridians, gators aren’t a big deal 🤷🏻♂️
The shark wasn't caught swimming there. The people were.
Seriously, lol. "Caught" Bruh, he lives there...
IKR. Now, if they caught the shark walking, that would have been impressive
He knows he doesn't belong there. We as a species sent out a fax years ago letting all sharks, whales, and dolphins know that the beach area is reserved for humans and that they need to respect that.
Oh no how could a fish be in his home how dare he
It was probably grossed out by all the people shitting themselves.
You talkin' about shark sugar?
Poor shark was just as confused.
Those people took a lot longer to get out of the water than I would have.
In fairness getting out at a moderate pace is probably better, first thing a prey animal does is bolt and that sets off a predators instinct.
When I was like 4-5 I was really into sharks and dinosaurs and my godfather thought it would be funny to give me VHS copies of Jaws and Jurassic Park for my birthday..
Kind of killed my love of dinosaurs and instilled a livelong fear of sharks in me. I freak out if I'm in a lake and I think something might have just touched my foot, I see something that even remotely looks like a fin, I'm swimming as fast as possible to a place things with fins can't get to.
The shark was the new lifeguard and was telling them to go in a single file
Other headline: Shark in natural environment living its normal life.
Imagine invading someone's home and then freaking out when they are there. If you swim in the ocean, expect it to still be the ocean.
I mean.... Do you want them to not be freaked out? It's still a predator that can fuck you up
Sharks?? In the Ocean??
"Excuse me. Excuse me. 'Scuse me. Whup, sorry. Coming through"
Yeah that shark was more scared than they were. Imma looking for the exit maam
The lack of urgency by some of these people is nuts
Shark in the ocean no way that's impossible.
Humans caught in ocean hone invasion, shark responds with castle doctrine.
Hammerhead, basically water puppies
Farewell and adieu to you fair Spanish ladies.
Farewell and adieu to you ladies of Spain.
For we've received orders for to sail back to Boston.
And so never more shall we see you again.
Eleven hundred men went into the water. Vessel went down in twelve minutes. Didn't see the first shark for about a half an hour. Tiger. Thirteen-footer. You know how you know that when you're in the water, Chief? You tell by lookin' from the dorsal to the tail.
Isn't it back to England? Never heard Boston.
Quint was one of those characters you loved to hate in a movie. Robert Shaw was such an amazing actor.
My guess is a hammerhead.
Why are sharks in the water 😡😡😡
Rather swimmers caught swimming in shark water.
Let’s throw shit at it and make it angry!! God these people are stupid
Imagine seeing a shark in the ocean?....its crazy times!
Looks like a Hammerhead, roughly 10 - 12 feet long, and not in any way a danger since Hammerheads can't really attack humans (beyond bumping into them).
This appears be the original or at least the source of the watermarked version.
It's from last summer but hey, gotta get that Reddit karma I guess.
"caught"? Like it wasn't supposed to be in the ocean
Hammerheads always blow my mind in terms of how alien they look. Like what the fuck. But they at least they can eat us
Probably pissed all these idiots were in his way.
I’ll stick to a swimming pool
Probably trying to find a way out of that 101F degree water.
Do people not yell SHARK anymore??
Now that's some JAWS shit.
I just like the fact that this video proves that sharks don’t attack people at random or for food because that shark had every opportunity to take anyone out but didn’t
I love posts like this. “Shark spotted in the ocean” yeah man, that’s where sharks live. I wouldn’t be surprised if I came into your house and you were there
Wait, are you telling me sharks live in the ocean?
They're not usually that close to the shore though
The tail is hammerhead? Yikes still!
They’re going to need a bigger boat
If that was me I’d be moving much faster.
Punch it in the nose. If you see a shark coming at you, flatten your palms out, put your body behind you if you have time, hit it in the nose. They'll lose their shit and veer away. You might need to aim high if they're opening their mouth on you, but if you hit it on the nose they'll freak out and pull off immediately. Had a marine biologist and dive instructor tell me that.
Caught swimming in the ocean! The nerve of that shark!!!!
Crazy! Who would have thought there would be sharks in the ocean?
Sharks aren't even dangerous like that, unless you're uneducated/panic. bro was just socializing my dudes, pass him the good shite and let him chill
"is it true that most people get attacked by sharks in three feet of water about ten feet from the beach?"
I like the description. Shark 'caught' swimming in its natural habitat. How dare you, Mr. Shark!
Surprising presence of fish in the ocean
Why would you swim in shark infested waters? And more importantly, why aren't beaches like this surrounded with sharkproof nets or walls?
It's literally swimming around everyone. I'd be more worried about a tiger or bull shark than a hammerhead.
When you don’t know what you want for lunch so you cruise around hoping you see something that looks good…
The shark: "I've been peopled enough, thanks. I'm going home now."
You’re in their environment!
The point is…where it was swimming. Thigh to waist deep water that close, paralleling the shoreline between people. Seemed like a sizeable shark too.
That is unusual.
Jaws 2024 “Get out of the water”
Alex…….? Alex……?
I can still see that mother calling out for her son as Alex’s bloody raft gets washed to shore.
Has anyone yet suggested that this may be a hammerhead? /s
Ever since I saw Jaws when I was a kid (this was the 70s) I refused to go swimming in the Atlantic ocean (Daytona Beach, etc.)
The water is just too murky.
And while my family never vacationed on the Gulf coast, I sure did when I got older. That and the Keys.
I don't know what it's called but I got a thing now where I have a phobia about getting in the water above my knees if the water is murky and I can't see my feet at the bottom.
Shark caught swimming in his home*
Where do these people expect to see a shark? Applebees? The ocean is literally their home.
Shark caught swimming eh? What else was it supposed to do? Fly?
This just in … sharks swim in the ocean 🤦🏼♂️
"caught" swimming? What should it have been doing, paragliding??
Wait!! They are swimming now?! Wtf?
I'm west coast and maybe our beaches are just more treacherous but man some of those kids are a bit far out. Every summer I'm at a bay area beach and there are some families who don't seem to frequent beaches much and the tween boys go out as far many of those kids and 15 minutes later it's beach patrol rescue o'clock. Maybe the tide is good and there isn't a drop off but man. I'm a grown man but without a board I only go out to wear I can float a bit but quickly get to high leg to safety distance. Add in sharks in the shallows and noooope.
A lot of heroic filming. No heroic yellers of SHARRRRKKKKKK!!!
at what point did the shark get caught?
You can stand in knee deep breakers after dark and catch huge hammer head sharks on popular beaches in florida. Their migration path goes around the pan handle into the gulf of mexico.
I know it’s alarming for those in the water, but I can’t help but feel sorry for the shark.
Okay? Where did you expect it swim? The Sahara?
I wonder if this is the shark that attacked 3 people in the same day off Florida?
Different part of the state. Destin area is on the gulf, Miami carribean/atlantic
Gracias!
Maybe he hopped a ride on a ‘Sharknado’
Lol
I've seen this before, it's a corgi wearing a lifejacket
If only there was a lifeguard with a whistle.
Thats just roger
Same shark that was ripping off arms and legs?
I think the seagull flying over him who he paid for being a navigator fcked up..
call me when they catch a shark swimming in a forest or desert.
having a shark in the ocean where they belong isn't really a big deal.
Weird. It’s like the ocean doesn’t have doors to lock.
That’s what sharks do, swim.
No way that's like seeing seagulls at the beach. What's next school children at school?
Saw this vid awhile ago
30a just had 3 shark attack victims in one day. They’ve had to close the water to everyone. In my many years of living here I’ve not ever seen or heard of this level of activity from sharks so close to the beach when people were swimming and in daylight. They usually stay out during the day and come closer at night.
Why don't they invest in fences
How dare he
Yes, that's what sharks do in the sea
Holy fuck batman, is that a shark in the sea??? Who would have thought such a thing could happen????
I would literally pass out.
Did the shark pay for a room at one of the hotels?
Holy shit- a shark, in the ocean?!!!
A shark in the ocean!
Gnarly!!!
Omg a shark… in his own home..
Told a life guard one time I saw a 8ft black tip shark in waste deep water. His response was "They live here too".
Lots of shark attacks this weekend, 3 people along the Florida coast. They were saying the attacks were probably the same shark since it was the same afternoon. Guessing this isn’t the same one since nobody got attacks
And no one yells SHARK!
He lost his wedding ring
I was holding my breath watching this, terrifying, absolutely terrifying.
Hammerhead, dolphin or steamboat, I’d be shitting out of my ears so hard it’d lift me up and catapult me to the sand dunes. Fuuuuuuuuuuck that.
Sharks swim. It would have been more embarrassing to have been caught masturbating.
Damn I thought that kid was fish food
Get tf outta the water
Global warming isn't all bad I guess.
Doesn't seem like a hungry shark.
