I might of misunderstood talk no jutsu but doesn’t Naruto actually have to fight the opponent first??
DiscussionIt’s like Naruto’s Spirit Bomb
People of Konoha lend me your ramen
Naruto pretty much has to beat his opponent first. Most battles in Naruto are battles of opposite ideologies. Naruto gotta beat up his opponent to prove his strength before his opponent would bother listening to his opinion as if it's worthwhile
No it is obviously because you have to lower their HP before throwing a poke ball
ya this is exactly what happened with pain and nagato
No, it's so his opponent can't run away.
I mean ur both right
So they can’t run away from his ideologies 😭
Til naruto is a Geova witness
Yes for the most part I believe. Usually he is fighting an opponent on his skill level so they think they can win. And he's got to slap them back and be like no this is not the way. But I imagine if some bandit or lowly ninja got flexed on by the presence of Naruto and Kurama they'd just do whatever he said without any violence.
Not forcibly beat, but they must exchange blows
Obito posing as Madara explained it to Naruto when he appeared in his room.
He told him that elite shinobis can understand each others when exchanging blows
It looks similar to ninshu
Also Killer Bee fist bump might be similar
You're right about the trading minds, but it was Sasuke who says it.
Then, Naruto confirms the theory when they clash after the Danzo fight.
Sasuke says the thing about reading minds at Valley of the End pt1.
Oh I see thanks
So it was mentioned way earlier
It was mentioned in CFYOW
Yea
Most of the villians Naruto fight are mirror characters. Zabuza was Naruto if he became what the village wanted, Gaara was Naruto without friends, Nagato was the Naruto who lost the hope, Obito was the Naruto who lost love. So he has to fight them fissically and ideologycally
Lmao I read that as fight them fiscally. Dude is hokage through and through
Its pretty much copying pokemon, you gotta beat their ass before you tame them
Yes obviously. There is no "talk no jutsu". The idea is that Naruto empathizes with opponents while fighting them and then appeals to their humanity.
The whole "talk no jutsu" meme is an idiotic claim that Naruto uses emotional manipulation as a tactic to avoid fighting opponents he can't beat. It's a stupid meme that unfortunately some people took seriously.
I don't think that's what talk no jutsu means. It's mostly a joke about how his conversations with enemies is his greatest "technique"
That's how it started but it has definately been corrupted beyond that.
Are these corrupters in the room with us right now?
Hello
shifts ouija board slightly are there any corrupted with us here now
Not maybe not here but the blue checks in anitwit
I've never once seen it used the way you describe lol
I have never heard anyone say he wins fights with talk-no-jutsu. Talk-no-jutsu is how he created allies and redeems people after winning, who is saying otherwise?
Just take a stroll in r/dankruto.
Nah, the memes are funny af.
It's literally the same joke all the time.
That stops being funny after a while.
Talk-no-jutsu is forever
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it all because he almost never actually kills his opponents and talks his way out? Like iirc ignoring filler, he only actually directly kills Kakuzu but everyone else he uses his ideology like with Obito and Nagato compared to other shounen protags.
He doesn’t even directly kill Kakuzu. Kakuzu survived the Rasenshuriken and Kakashi finished him off.
Iirc Naruto only killed one Suna Shinobi, the one who was Sasori’s spy and was made to impersonate Itachi with some weird jutsu.
Yes exactly. He always wants to see them as human first and enemy later.
He only goes straight for the kill with Kakuzu which was likely a reaction to feeling helpless to reach Sasuke in the previous arc.
Of what?
When two shonobi of high enough level face off... they can read eachothers thoughts through no more than a trade of blows.
Aka its still talking
Yes, he has to kick their asses in order to make his opponentsnto listen to him.
When fighting, the enemies expel their anger. And after one expels their anger, the negative emotions temporarily subside, and you experience a few hours of zen. During this time when we are less upset, we are more open to different ways of thinking. To clarify, there are many studies that show that "negative emotions" suppress strategic thinking, willingness to change, and many other attributes. There are even neurological studies that explain the mechanisms.
So talk no jutsu actually makes a great deal of sense, if you understand people well.
Yes, I remember something being said at his confrontation with Sasuke at the 5 kage summit about Shinobi being able to understand each other just by fighting. Essentially he gains their respect by showing he's strong then he hits them with the swing set back flash
Its like with the peacetreatys from wars, you force them into whatever you want
Better to start talking when the opponent is exhausted and can't fight back
It's a Jutsu that is used in tandem along with Hands No Jutsu and Smack You Down Jutsu.
TnJ by itself required a lot of emotional, in other words, mental power/strength/chakra to subjugate the target as seen with Zabuza.
Physical exhaustion does reflect on the mental status. You're less likely to believe you're superior when you fail to prove it physically. Villains happen to have extreme ideologies pushed by force, you gotta break the force before getting through to the rotten core.

Great an autocorrect police
Better than an idiot who thinks it's "might of"
Imagine never being told and everyone just thinking you’re an idiot the rest of your life.
Also, if it was autocorrect it would have fixed it for you 🤦🏻♂️
It's like catching a pokemon, you need to beat them first for it to work.
Yes he does. In every situation the talking happens after he has won the fight or fought to a stalemate, but the detractors ignore that and just pretend like Naruto never wins his fights. Really it was used as a way for the author to not make him kill anyone, but again the critics ignore this fact.
Sometimes
it works the same way as Hidan's technique.
Naruto must have previously drawn blood from the target before it can be preformed.
Naruto must be in better shape than the target when cast.
That's why it even worked on Zabuza back in wave.
He drew blood on their first encounter but waited until Kakashi beat him up before casting it on the bridge.
Well…they won’t stay still and listen🤷♂️
Just like Pokeballs. It works better if you weaken the opponent first
He has talked no jutsu the ramen guy before. Scoring naruto extra bowls of ramen. No fight required.
There are psychological battles because you're mentally fucked. There are physical ones for resources mostly wether it's a cat, scroll, Sasukeeeee
Talk no jutsu only activates after someone important has been killed. Naruto can't do it before that for some reason
So it is actually a pokeball in the for of talk?
Weaken enemy enough to throw your pokeball(talk no justu him/her).
Talk no jutsu also happens in many Shonen animes. Dragonball, One Piece, Bleach, Fairy Tail, etc etc
Head canon is that he's subconsciously using Mind's Eye of the Kagura for it
Correct me if I’m wrong
Ok. Might have*
Yeah but the talking usually comes either before or after an asspull, seems annoyingly preachy and hypocritical, and isn't necessary(barring Gaara) and MAYBE Nagato
Look all I’m saying is if a 16 year old can talk you out of plans you’ve gone above and beyond to achieve then you probably didn’t want it that bad anyway.
What if that 16yr old is the next leader of a nation u fear and has the ability to rip your guts to shreds with a blue tennis ball?
Maybe you just meet something greater than yourself? Lol
Then you go out like a G sticking to your guns😂.
I always found it weird that so many characters would abandon their beliefs just because they got their ass beat.
If I'm fighting a first world superpower country that used my land as a battlefield, I'm not gonna change my ways because their best fighter beat me.
Yeah, the way naruto talks people out of their plans, beliefs, always weirded me out. No one else will make them change their ways but the protagonist will. Why? Well because it's the protagonist. It's the cop out tactic, protagonist magic.
Correct which is why it's a technique to win fights, not stop them from happening to begin with. It's just the act of appealing to someone's humanity and while that's certainly not a bad tactic, there've been times where it was misused especially when paired with the "power of friendship" trope that you see here with Obito and multiple times with Sasuke so it got a bad reputation.
The worst case I can think of being against Nagato where Naruto literally had no counterargument or morality to question yet he still talked him down with an "idk but just have faith in me that I'll find an end to the cycle of hatred".
I didn’t really like that either. Naruto had no answer for achieving peace but Nagato entrusted it to him. Still a great arc but it didn’t feel like Naruto earned Nagato’s faith imo.
I took that as Naruto saying although he sees Nagatos pov, and he does not have the answers yet, he is hopeful for the future. For someone like Nagato who has lost faith in the world it was comforting to find someone who empathizes with him but was still hopeful about a change.
Naruto had no direct answer because THERE IS NO DIRECT ANSWER. Bad shit happens in life, all you can do is what you can do, not lose hope and trust the next generation. This was encapsulated by the virtue of the lead character(also called Naruto) in the book Jiraiya wrote. A book that was actually about Nagato in his early days. The book Naruto threw at Nagato to remind him of who he was. Naruto didn't have a direct answer for Nagato but Nagato didn't have a reason as to why Naruto refuses to ever fall into despair like he did. No parents, no kakashi, no jiraiya, no sasuke, village destroyed yet he refuses to give in to hatred. Here he is empathising with me after I just killed Hinata in front of him. That refusal to give in was effectively his answer and it shook Nagato to the core. Its not confusing at all, it was peak Naruto for me.
Welcome to the Naruto fandom, where "fans" misinterpret their own show worse than some haters.
It's odd how naruto gets so much heat for talk no jutsu when it's a very common trope across shonen for defeated villains to join the goodguys.
Naruto's one of the few protagonists that actively trirs to change his opponents. This rubs some people the wrong way.
He never fought Hinata, yet he still put a baby in her.
It takes a long time to gather chakra for it.
