I'm looking for movies with exceptional music or score. "Gimme Shelter" came on during my drive this evening, instantly reminding me of "The Departed". I'm open to any suggestions, but I'd love to find movies that unexpectedly have fantastic music that completely transforms the movie's feel
Romeo + Juliet with DiCaprio
O Brother Where Art Thou
The Big Chill (1983)
The Country Bears (2002)
I haven't seen it but from memory there's a lot of love for the Baby Driver soundtrack
My personal favourites probably align more with being in my mid/late teens when they came out, but for what it's worth:
For how much i obsessively listened to it and it was being played at every house party and therefore became the soundtrack to a very specific period of my life: Baz Luhrman's Romeo and Juliet
The others:
Reservoir Dogs
Pulp Fiction
The Crow
Snatch (highlights: uses of Golden Brown (the Stranglers) and Angel (Massive Attack))
Josie and the Pussycats
Empire Records (but I will NEVER get over the version of Sugar High from the movie being excluded from the soundtrack)
Can't hardly wait
I didnt get why Baby Driver got all that hype. It was a decent soundtrack but I didn’t think it was amazing
Repo Man Judgment Night Baby Driver Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
A Knight’s Tale
The Big Chill
A Bronx Tale, anytime a Beatles song is in the soundtrack it’s special.
One Hour Photo (2002)
Casino, American Hustle, Leaving Las Vegas. Looking For Mr. Goodbar (a soundtrack so good, it's prevented a DVD release ever since it came out in 1977)
Lord of the Rings
Just watched Oppenheimer and I was blown away by the soundtrack
Snatch
Slum Dog Millionaire
Trainspotting
Harold & Maude
Forrest Gump
Any movie composed by Silvestri, Williams, Goldsmith, Horner, and Zimmer
Pi
The soundtrack to American Graffiti is basically the greatest hits of the 50s and early 60s. Stand By Me is the same time period. Forrest Gump isn't my favorite movie, but if you like Gimme Shelter, it's all that era. Dazed And Confused is full of 70s guitar rock.
