I am trying to make a checkerboard pattern with blocks and stairs, but the corner stairs aren't cooperating. How can I remedy this?
It wouldn’t be possible to get a stair block the shape you want I think without debug stick
I think it would be possible with an outer corner stair
Not with the other stairs on all four sides.
Can't you if you place only two first, then the middle, then the last two?
Like this:
[ ] [1] [ ]
[1] [2] [3]
[ ] [3] [ ]
Or does it update the block?
If you make the gaps with 2 stairs oppositie from eachother you can make the correct corners, but with 1 stair I don't think its possible
This is the only answer in survival, sorry to tell ya OP
You can't without debug stick
Have you tried the design with a two block space between each square rather than one?
It's meant to be the divisions between tiles, anything more than a half block depression would be too much.
Bigger tiles for the bigger gap?
I don't want one to be able to falll in the divisions. If there is a way to make a 3x3 or 4x4 pattern out of stone without stairs I'm all ears.
PS: tried using pistons already.
Use a debug stick. It lets you set the state of any block.
You can use left click to decide on what state you want to set, and use right click to decide on what to set the state to.
What about the health bar dont you understand? Its survival
That's an unnecessarily rude way to say it
place the stairs in the corner first, and then place the ones next to them to make them curved
You can use slabs instead?
That’s the neat part: you don’t
You can use a structure block. Just make a square with your stairs then copy/paste it as many times as needed. You can’t place them like this by hand, but it’s not against the game’s rules either so once the stairs are placed there won’t be any problem even if they’re updated.
It's all about the orientation of where you place it
Had to go try this myself and yeah, seems impossible without a debug stick, but by swapping the orientation of everything other in between of stair you get all the columns lining up and the rows jogging over by half a block and I personally think it looks really cool.
You could use a debug stick like others have been suggesting, else you could frame each square with their own set of stairs which would either widen the dip or create a ridge of 1 block between the squares. Depends which way you face them.
yo to anyone still seeing this after 15 hours, the general consensus is that you need a debug stick. Are there any glitches/ exploits (like using old versions and porting worlds) to obtain a debug stick 100% in survival?
Absolutely not. Was and always will be /give
Even if you could get a debug stick in survival, it won’t work unless you’re in creative.
