![What is your favorite scene in the franchise?](https://preview.redd.it/w58gz1xayj9d1.jpeg?auto=webp&s=068d6833b7ed3dcd3bd8e166b89906ae9b49d76f)
Honestly that might be the best action sequence of the 2010s
Watching the BTS videos of the stunts it's amazing dozens of people didn't die making these movies
The first Furiosa and wives vs. Max and Nux is some of the best fight choreography ever in my opinion
I'd go beyond that, honestly Fury Road is an S-tier action movie of all time. Up there with Aliens, T2, The Rock, Predator...
The very best scene of Mad Max Fury Road - YouTube
yeah, no kidding the music is so fantastic with the visuals. the part with the rig on fire and how they get rid of the flame with the rig literally taking a deep breath, making the rig a character itself. Definitely a strong contender for the best sequence.
The supercharger sucking in air is a Mad Max motif. The V8 Pursuit Interceptor did it in the first movie.
One of my favourite bits of the canyon chase is Max using a pistol to blow out the window so Furiosa can shoot a rider with the flare gun.
I feel like Immortan doesn’t see himself as a bad guy doing evil even if we see him that way.
I also think the bike riders just wanted Furiosa to honor the deal and leave the gas behind. They didn’t like that a whole war party was following but they didn’t see that as a reason to renig on the deal.
They had a deal! (In my head I always hear Cartman saying “we had a deal Kyle!”)
I do too. It’s like “just honor what you said you do!” I also notice they break off the chase when the extra trailer blows up and even when they’re firebombing the truck it’s more “just fucking stop” than “we’re gonna kill you!”
Part of that deal was a few pursuit vehicles. They wouldn't be able to do much with the pod with Immortan Joe's warparties descending on them.
We had a deal and yet my balls remain dry...
Splendid using her body to shield Furiosa still is just so perfect. And Joe’s pause and maybe realizing the Wives weren’t “stolen”
With “Brothers in arms” by Junkie XL as soundtrack.
So epic.
I still jam out to this while I ride my bike to work in the morning to get to work on time. I remember the moment I heard this track during the movie and it made me think, this movie is the best action flick of the 2010's. Too bad Furiosa didn't have a track like this that made me feel the way this chase sequence did.
Agreed, I was shocked Furiosa had Junkie XL as well, didn't hit the same
Because its score was different, just like the movie itself. Slower and more tense
Recycled soundtrack on a budget.
“Hey Tom, we want you to make the OST for Furiosa”.
“Of course! Gladly I will. What’s the budget?”.
“25% of Fury Road”.
“No problem”.
It’s not a bad soundtrack but it feels like an extended part of the darkest cuts, even with that falling a bit in monotony.
Was soo disappointed with Furiosa score. Was so boring and every song dragged on forever. The Chase, Claw Trucks and Chapter Doof are amazing
Got me through a half marathon a few years back. Listened to this song on repeat.
Honestly, I love the "we are warboys" chant scene.
And the Doof warrior reveal.
But the "sing brother heckler, sing brother koch" part is amazing.
Who the fuck thinks of paraphrasing old soviet revolutionary poetry in a post-apocalyptical action movie?
All that being said.
The most beautiful scene is when they're driving through the storm.
This is a dope scene. Also cool to see the unspoken trust develop between Furiosa and Max as the scene progresses. Love it!
It's the greatest. The moment it goes down, he's handing her a gun, and they just share a quick glance before they get ready to fight their way through. Acknowledging that they're going to have to trust each other.
This is it, yep. When two people who know what they're doing team up. No questions asked, I know to reload this, or move back while you shoot.
The climax of it for me, the part that gets me fist pumping, is when the engine catches fire. They drop the front of the rig down to kick up dirt to put out the fire. Then that GLORIOUS camera zoom as we hear the engine intake. The music is perfect and gives the audience a treat. As though the rig itself were alive and telling us "I didn't hear no bell. Hit the fuckin' gas mate. It was only fire."
There was a similar scene with Pratorian Jack where both of them just know what each of them needed to do
Max and Furiosa starting the fight as uneasy allies and ending it as brothers in arms is one hell of a sequence.
The rig roaring out of that dust cloud is pure gold.
Brothers in Arms is one of the best tracks in the entire franchise. It's in a few of my musical Playlists that have zero to do with soundtracks lol
"FOOOOOL!"
“That’s our fuel!!!” Then the games begin. Sick action sequences…
Brothers In Arms is still one of my favorite tracks ever.
This one
This is also my favorite. Chills every time.
Agreed, the whole movie rocks but this is my favorite. "Brothers in Arms" is the best track on the soundtrack and love that it's the sequence when Max and Furiosa start to trust each other.
Gotta be this one
Doof warrior lives rent free in my head and he’s got a nice place
He’s still the coolest motherfucker in cinema history
This scene marked the utter and complete surrender of my sense of disbelief. Whatever else happened after this scene, I don’t care what it was, I was along for the ride.
Mad Max's version of war drums except there are also war drums
Agree! That is what I found missing in Furiosa. Dementus’ chariot was cool but miles away from this bad boy. My favourite rig in the Furiosa was octoboss’s octopus kite. That was damn cool but not THIS COOL!
This is the correct answer.
That Charger is the coolest car in the franchise that isn't one of the main vehicles.
If one was to summarize Mad Max in one scene it would be this. The sand, the madness of man, the car culture.
This shot - starting from the rear of the Doof Wagon and ending with the flames coming out of the guitar - is basically saying "So you think turning it up to 11 is crazy?"
This is simply one of the most incredible pieces of cinematography I have ever seen.
The sandstorm.
OH WHAT A DAY!!
WHAT A LOVELY DAY!!
bird skull furiously nods in agreement
😆
No joke, the sandstorm was what sold me on Fury Road being more than just an action movie. Seeing the War Boys and their car sucked up into the vortex is something I wished I could see again for the first time.
It's fucking breathtaking, especially with the horns and strings rising in Junkie XL's score.
ill never forget Nux' child like elated response to the surrounding destruction carnage.
A line that I have used in real life. With equal enthusiasm. Always while drunk.
when the tornado picks up the warboys car and the score kicks in 🫠
Do do do do do
Favorite action sequence is probably the mortifiers attacking the rig or the fight with Max and Furiosa working together in the rig, and I really enjoy the whole confrontation between Furiosa and Dementus
Beat me to it. That or the storm sequence from fury road
The entire second half of The Road Warrior.
I'd never seen anything like that as a kid. Opened up my whole world.
This. Saw it as a 19 year old at the drive in on release. No CGI, a few dummies but hardcore real stunt work. The driver of the semi did the final roll in one take as he said he wasn’t crazy enough to try another lol.
Mad Max 2 is the best Aussie film ever for me
Was legit racking my brain to pick my favorite part of Road Warrior’s latter half and realized it’s not possible lol.
Mine is the entire first 45 minutes of The Road Warrior.
"No we're good WE FANG IT!" You know the scene.
BRONK BROONNNNK
Yep. The War Rig horn may be my favorite part. Gives me chills.
How and why tf is this so accurate and can I hear the exact tone and cadence of the horn? Vrabo Bince
“THUNDER UP! THIS IS NOT A SUPPLY RUN!”
BUZZARDS RIGHT EYES ON EYES ON!
Probably recency bias, but I loved the scene in Furiosa where the biker gang take off from the ground to the sky and pass along the rear of the war rig in one seemless take. So unexpected and very well executed
The second I noted the parasails, I nearly cried out loud, "They fly now?"
I turned to my friend and whispered the same thing
then sat there and thought "memes gave broken my brain"
To be honest it felt so natural to the universe that I had to rack my brain to see if it happened in the original film
Thats what I was gonna say. That shot of the one guy going from sand skiing to deploying his chute and the camera following him up from behind was too cool. I’d love to know how they achieved it.
Shout out to Octoboss and the Motorflyers! Best boss in the wasteland!
Me & my dad just looked at each other after this scene and went… holy shit 😮
Opening of Road Warrior
When he drops back, rams the car that had been chasing him and gets them to crash into the buggy was sweet.
We didn’t get to see much of his driving in the first movie and it was cool to get to see how he’d changed and adapted to the wasteland since the first movie
He’s so resourceful and his planning etc. especially the bomb trigger, knife under his car etc.
While very short, it is possible the best car-related action scene I've watched while it lasted. I love the fact that it was not drawn out to explain every last detail. It all happens so fast (like it really would in real life). I've re-watched it dozens of times to put it all together.
Dementus’ bikers confronting the Citadel and its warboys for the first time in Furiosa. It’s a perfect encapsulation of the insanity and power imbalances in the wasteland. Also I just love how they do the engine revving in unison.
"Among all his warriors assembled here, choose one."
What if I choose not to choose?
I HAD A LITTLE BABY BROTHER
AND HE WAS PERFECT!
PERFECT IN EVERY WAY!
Bullet Farmer chasing the War Rig in the swamps
Dies Irae
I'm the scales of Justice
Max trusts Furiosa to take the shot
Nux firmly switches sides
Bullet Farmer keeping going despite being blinded
Max tanking the Bullet Farmer's squad on his own
The Tree Thing
Everything is magnificent
I AM THE SCALES OF JUSTICE!
CONDUCTOR OF THE CHOIR OF DEATH!
SING BROTHER HECKLER!
SING BROTHER KOCH!
SING, BROTHERS!
SING!
I love how that scene shows Max’s resourcefulness in looting the Bullet Farmer. Then accepting Nux but giving him the boot
when Furi asks the Immortan Joe if he remembers her right before ripping off his f...kng face! 😃💯
I loved this scene, especially when Furiosa uses the sand to cool off the engines on fire. At least I think that is this part
Yep. And when the engine parts open back up like they are breathing for air. You feel like the War Rig is a living thing.
Like it’s a huge angry dragon made of steel and fire and guzzoline
In the book Blood, Sweat, and Chrome they mention mixing whale sounds into the War Rig to make it feel more like a living thing.
Fury Road is basically Moby Dick from Joe's perspective.
Same. Give me chills just thinking about it
The first time we meet the humungus
“THE AYATOLLAH OF ROCK-AND-ROLLA”
The one where nux injects the nitro and rushes off infront of immortan joe
hell yea
and also like the first time the Immortan speaks to nux and says
YOU! CLIMB ABOARD!
Fury road, the brothers in arms scene after the biker hits the war rig with a molotov and they put it out with the cow catcher. The blower opening back up and the noise it makes sucking the air back in always sends a chill down my spine.
The War Rig feels like a mighty animal, alive and strong.
The Pole Cats.
Why did I have to scrolls so far for this! It contains my favorite shot of ANY movie. When Max is swinging on the pole and there’s a magnificent explosion in the background, you know the one.

He then awkwardly laughs along with them so as not to look bad.
I coudlnt stop laughing at, Take this piss!. But when the rigs on fire and they drop the grill to push the sand up is amazing!
The opening to Thunderdome. The whole bit until he pulls the sawed off shotgun and strikes a deal. For me it was one of the first bits of post apocalyptic cinema that I ever saw. Still my favorite to this day.
When he pulls every weapon in the book out of his cloak. Then keeps a fly swatter (which houses a knife)
MM: final hacksaw scene
MM2: THE AYATOLA OF ROCK AND ROLAAA
MMBT: (somehow) The Tell of Cpt. Walker
MMFR: War Rig vs Rock Riders
Furiosa: the warboy plunging himself after being chosen by Joe
Agree on all counts. Especially the hacksaw scene and the tell
I like in the first one, where max confronts Toecutter and his gang on the highway
When he gets shot in the leg, his arm run over, and he forces himself to his feet. Fueled by revenge. Shoots down Toecutter’s lieutenant and keeps limping toward him. Badass. And I see it as the death of Max Rockatansky and the birth of Mad Max
The reveal of the Doof Warrior. It plastered a big cheesy grin across my face and I knew at that moment that Fury Road was something special.
Recency bias, but the suicide warboy display- the example that People Eater gives Dementus. Something about that sequence stuck with me. The framing is so good and that explosion so violent. You really feel like part of a crowd. The chaos after is whatever, I mainly mean the buildup and explosion.
Driving into the sandstorm and how Furiosa (Charlize Theron) pushes the truck into the tornado. This + Nux looking in awe at the whole scene + background music = that looked like some Ascencion. It was biblical. They were literally taken to Valhalla. Perfect.
The Rock Riders fight in the canyon USED TO BE my favorite (it’s so fucking brilliant, esp w the score & Furiosa sniping the mid-air Rock Rider is THE chef’s kiss), but after watching this film over and over again I have to say it’s Act 3 as they fight their way home; the choreography, the cinematography, Furiosa wounded & hanging onto Max, the score & editing just brings me to tears because of how perfectly it’s executed. That’s my pick.
The Road Warrior final chase scene with Max driving the tanker and The Feral Kid his sidekick. Every major chase in every movie that came after, seemed to be inspired by that. No, they didn’t have the same technology in 1981 as today, but as a kid I was on the edge of my seat and I’ve felt nothing else quite like it in the entire franchise, though other scenes are epic.
The feral kid climbing up to get the Shotgun shells off the hood while Max is clawed to the driver's seat is just as nail-biting and intense as any of the war rig scenes in fury Road.
Oh yeah. I loved that scene.
After the spoken Intro inThe Road Warrior, when Max is chased by Wez and the cars. Right into the storm. Unbeatable.
Pursuit and death of the Nightrider.
When he plays chicken with Max and “chickens” out. Then he is sobbing with lost confidence
Fury Road, the nod between Max and Furiosa in the end.
Mine involves no vehicles.
I believe that the introduction fight between Max and Furiosa is amazing (when they first meet on the ground). Really one of the best ever filmed. So gritty, desperate and a battle for survival. Max with the chained mask and Furiosa with only one arm. The back and forth is so so well done.
There's a deleted scene where Max breaks down in Thunderdome, realizing he has become like the human monsters he once hunted as a cop.
I also like the scene in Fury Road when Nux and Capable talk about how their lives have turned out and bond.
Furiosa has that epic "Forty-Day Wasteland War" montage, and the opening chase from Fury Road when they first pursue the Rig is unmatched.
I also always loved how Max ices the last biker in the original. All around a great franchise that remained untarnished, unlike so many others.
Max entering batertown up to making the deal with Auntie Entity. Its basically an exposition dump but the writing is so efficient and the way they talk is so bizarre that I could watch it again and again.
"Oh I get it, real civilized."
The scene in Thunderdome, where Max blows the bosun's whistle after the attack of Jebediah. I don't know why it makes me sad, it is etched into my brain. I mean, it is only two seconds.
I get chills just thinking about when Immortan Joe says "You are awaited" and dude kamikazes off a zip line
When it was released on VHS I accidentally paused it here. Was very proud.
The commentary sountrack to The Road Warrior features George Miller and probably the DP enthusing about the dog repeatedly: "A little movie star."
The mortifiers attack preat jack and the stowaway. Aka “the stairway to nowhere”
Morsov’s final act of war. We see the first use of the shiny chrome paint huffing, the first real exaltation to WITNESS ME, his comrades’ (with exception of h8er Slit) ecstasy at his leaving them for Valhalla…what a scene. What a lovely scene
I adore The Sandstorm and Brothers in Arms.
I have to mention when Furiosa is stabbed while holding Max in the final chase in Fury Road. It's the absolute nadir, when they might actually lose it all. But just as they are being overtaken on both sides, Nux puts the 2nd engine back in play and yeets Max over to People Eater's rig. Max takes control, screens the War Rig, and they have a fighting chance again. They read the play, keep their heads, and have about them a purposeful savagery.
Fury road. Bullet farmer fight
My pick is not impressive from a technical perspective, as the ones you guys mentioned but I remember the first time I saw The Doof Warrior I gasped and my mind was totally blown. Fury Road was my introduction to this universe and I felt like his presence said so much about the War Boys’ culture, Immortal Joe’a reign, and this world as a whole. Also, from a strictly visual perspective, it was an epic, metal and insane moment. That entire film felt like euphoric and Doof Warrior personified that.
Nux’s death.
Holy crap, that really got me in the feels.
morsov's witness scene. thebwhole like 20 swcond bit from when he gets shot in the face, until ace is shown making the orayer hands is an wxample to any other film maker how to shoot a scene that sticks withbrhe audience and conveys so much exposition without saying but 2 words.
The scene in the first movie where to 2 police officers crash through a van
Seeing Furiosa turn around to save Jack was great, not mind blowing spectacular but I 100% expected her to turn tail and run. Like Jack expected her too. When she actually pulled the rescue off and they sailed off together I felt that impossible hope for them both.
Fuck ass dementus and his big wheeler.
Mad max 2 when the secondary villain lost his twink boyfriend to the feral kid
My favourite scene has always been the first time Max meets the Gyro Captain in Road Warrior. I always loved their chemistry, seeing the gyrocopter for the first time. “Booby trapped. Tough those tanks and… BOOM”
GAZ - OH - LEEN.
I don’t know if it’s my favourite, but I do love this scene from the second one!
As much as I wanna pick a scene from Fury Road and Furiosa, I gotta go with the two main bads in road warrior getting wrecked figuratively and literally
You’re just correct.
Mad max 2 opening sence 1000% that's whine of the supercharger then ripping it into reverse sliding backwards lives rent free in my head
I think the big chase scene in Fury Road
despite all of the incredible scenes in the last 2 movies i gotta give it to the scene in the road warrior where max hangs out of the truck to blow the brains out of the guy in the red bat car
Love the Buzzards scene simply because of Buzzards
The violence in the Buzzards attack in Fury Road features several spectacular pyrotechnic crashes, and is extreme even by the standards of George Miller.
Either the opening chase in The Road Warrior, or the scene where Max ends up punching Papagallo. What makes The Road Warrior the best one for me are those dramatic scenes. Really grounds the film
“The chain in those handcuffs is high tensile steel. It’ll take you ten minutes to hack through it with this. Now if you’re lucky you can hack through your ankle in five minutes.”
Max versus The People Eater's rig in Fury Road
When the camera pans around the Doof wagon and we first catch a glimpse of the Doof warrior, maybe my favourite shot in any movie of all time ever.
The chase scene in Fury Road. You know, the chase scene.
The whole sandstorm section full of practical and CGI
The eating dog food scene in Road Warrior.
When furiosa is screaming after learning the fate of “the green place”. The music is top notch
Yeah that scene is great.
When the big fat mothers are pumping milk 🥛
Found Homelander’s avatar
The Redemption Ride. Taking Furiosa's rig directly through the middle of them, racing against the Interceptor, chopping off the chains holding them back, fighting the pole cats, everything after this is just beautiful.
In road warrior when lord humungous has been set on fire and hes all burnt up, then he gets his truck back on the road to chase Max and hits the nitrous and hes just hanging on raving like he’s crazy. So cool
The trials bikes ! ( dirt bikes with no seats for riding up walls and over logs or cars etc )
"My name is Max" scene in Fury Road.
Polecat attack in Fury Road, not even debatable IMO.
Embargo ON!
The sandstorm. By far, still gives me chills.
Road Warrior's last chase scene still blows my mind
Morsov heading to Valhalla, all shiny and Chrome.
The scene with Brothers in Arms in the soundtrack. It’s extremely dramatic, intense, and bad ass. We truly care about the characters at this point and it feels like the odds are against them no matter how hard they fight. Some of the best cinematography mixed with Charlize and Tom acting their asses off to the amazing Brothers in Arms by the composter. It can’t be beat.
Immortan Joe getting his face ripped off. Also when they see the Green Place and it's just a swamp with those dudes on stilts. Really cool visual.
The end of the original Mad Max when he’s driving away with a satisfied look on his face after the explosion and Johnny’s apparent death..
So many, but in the pusuit swapping wheel and tank early in Furiosa was cool.
WE HAD A DEEEAAAAALLLLLLL!!!
I'd have to go with the start of the chase scene in fury road.
Special mention to when dementus first arrives at the citadel. All of them reving their engines and dementus's speech trying to get everyone to overthrow Joe. I was alone in the theatre covered in goosebumps smiling like an idiot.
“Max. My name is Max,” gets me teared up every time.
The gas blowing into the engine competition between Slit and Max/Nux.
The pursuit convoy approaching the War Rig in Furiosa where you hear the drums and Doof in the distance and see them appear in the distance.
When Tina Turner says "Who run Bartertown?"
THERE HEADING BACK TO THE CITADEL THEY KNOW ITS UNDEFENDED
The Humungus “just walk away” scene.
Witness me. The buzzards attack and the war boy has arrows in him.
Marsov going to Valhalla while the War Rig crew witnesses his suicide.
Either the biker scene with the firebombs or stairway to nowhere in Furiosa with the octoboss
This might be a specific moment that often gets overlooked: In "The Road Warrior," during the final chase scene, there's a part where one of the thugs is on top of the rig. Max is driving and uses his double-barrel, pistol-grip shotgun to blast the thug off the roof and out onto the road. He then shoots another thug while hanging out of the rig on the door (I may actually have the sequence backwards, can’t recall). All this happens while the feral kid is going crazy. That gets me hyped every time. I’m a child of the 80s so I got love for the road warrior.
As much as I love Mad Max 2, Fury Road and Furiosa... I'd still have to go with the very first chase from the very first film. Nothing beats the shot of the cop car tearing through that caravan IMO.
I'll take the fight in Thunderdome. The hemisphere of people watching, the weapons. It was incredible to see it in the theaters.
The ending chase in fury road great music hood cinematography it’s great
The sex scene with Max and Fifi.
Tied between the mortflyers in furiosa attacking the war rig and the boarding scene on the return to the citadel in fury road
Honestly, the one you posted. Not just in the franchise, but all time. Everything about it works so well. I adore this scene.
The night rider
The Interceptor debut: Max chasing Toecutter's gang and then driving to nowhere... it was the born of the Road Warrior.
Mines when it turns blue at the tree and Furiosa shoots the spotlight
Fury Road Stilt Walkers.
I'll go first - the scene where they are being chased by the dirt bike gang in Fury Road. Action packed, amazing cinematography, and the best score in the series.
What is your favorite?
