Drive in means you park at your camp site and cart in means you park in a parking lot and then haul your gear in to your campsite using a wheel barrow provided by the state park. Usually these sites are more secluded which is a big reason for booking these sites. My site on this trip was 0.4 miles from the parking lot so just keep that in mind when planning your trips

Enjoy! It’s about the best Minnesota has to offer in my opinion

Love the tent. Easy to set up pretty roomy for one person and stayed dry in the rain. Can’t ask for much more!

Didn’t find a tick on me or my gear the entire weekend 😊

The swinging bridge across high falls was actually closed off when I went

REI is such a large retailer. I don’t mean this is a rude way to you at all, but if two people come into their store, take a look around, try some things out, and don’t make a purchase I think it’s the least of their concerns

GTTSR East Entrance

Hello - going to glacier this summer and have all my camping/lodging booked. Only thing left is waiting for my window to open so I can buy GTTSR passes. I understand that you do not need a pass to enter GTTSR from the east side of the park. Just looking to get clarification - if I enter on the east side with no form of daily permit, can I travel all the way to the east side? Our camp site is at Apgar campground. Just want to make sure there is no sort of mandatory turnaround and that I would be able to travel from the east entrance all the way to Apgar without a daily permit. Thanks in advance!

I’ve never been so pumped for an SNL episode ever. Very stoked for Shane to be doing it. Just pointing out that I think he realizes how gay some of this shit is

I’m aware they are ironic. Doesn’t mean they aren’t fucking gay and I think Shane knows that

Yep I decided to go this route for the time being! I booked a site at “Glacier Campground” just outside of the west entrance. Cancellation fee is only $22 so if I score a site inside the park I’m only out the $22 fee

That is fantastic. Our plan is to stay on the west side for three nights and the east side for two nights. We were able to secure a room at MG Hotel already. Had to wake up in the middle of the night to book 365 days out but we got it

I’ve booked a safety net reservation at “Glacier Campground” just outside of the west entrance. Seems like the best option outside of the park for tent camping and the cancellation fee is only $22. This way if I get skunked out on getting site inside the park, at least the trip is still a go

Nervous About Campground Reservations

We plan to stay on the west side of the park 09/01-09/04 (Labor Day weekend). After scrolling through this subreddit, it’s a lot of horror stories of people who have no luck getting campsites. I plan to be logged onto the booking site and ready to book at 8am MST six months prior to our arrival. I did this when booking for RMNP last year and had zero issues.

My question is - does Apgar usually book up immediately? And will the fact we are staying over Labor Day weekend help us or hurt our chances of getting a site? From what I’ve read on other posts, most of the people mentioning they miss out on a site are trying to book many glacier.

Thanks in advance

Yep just did some more digging and you are correct. Any suggestions on stops along GTTSR?

GTTSR Stops, Apgar Campground Road Access

Hello,

We will be visiting GNP this upcoming summer. We plan to stay in Apgar campground three nights, and have our reservations booked for many glacier hotel for the remainder of the trip.

Looking for your favorite stops on GTTSR as we will be spending one full day driving the road.

Also looking to get clarification - if I have a campsite reservation for Apgar campground, this grants me access to GTTSR, correct?

Thanks in advance
