Visiting Tequila on a Sunday

I'm planning a trip out to Tequila in August, and aiming to visit a few distilleries. I've taken note of the many many threads giving recommendations but wondering if anyone has any experience being in Tequila on a Sunday? It seems some of the distilleries don't operate then (for example; Fortaleza, Cascahuin, Atanasio). Is it next to impossible to find any of the tours operating on a Sunday? Is the town itself "alive" then?

Appreciate any advice/suggestions!

Did you get any more info on either of these? I'm also struggling to find how..

OP, did you find a good company in the end? We are also looking to rent a car to travel from PV area to Guadalajara

Thank you for sharing your experience and reassurance! I was starting to think we’d made a big mistake, first with the smaller towns possibly being quieter in our bid to avoid sickness, and then with the weather around that time of year. I’m feeling more positively now!

Thank you this is really great info! I’m leaning more to LDM or San Pancho, as you said you can always taxi to to Sayulita or San Pancho for more variety and make more better use of LDM beach.

Thank you! We have San Sebastián in our list to explore but hadn’t considered an overnight stay as not many had mentioned doing that. Will take a look!

I'm hoping that 49°c is a rarity and not something seen regularly! Surprised as googling the weather in Guadalajara around that time showed <30°c (ignoring feels like/humidity). But then not surprised if the google results are way off.

We're fixed on August unfortunately as it's our only availability for time off, aware that it will be mightily humid, which is not my preference but recently survived Vietnam in similar humid conditions so we'll make it work!

Any tips on the towns would be most welcome!

Riviera Nayarit end of July/Early August

We are travelling to Puerto Vallarta towards the end of July, and then looking to spend a few days in either Sayulita, San Pancho or Lo De Marcos before heading to Guadalajara.

We were initially thinking we'd go for SP or LDM because we might enjoy the quieter vibes and hopefully lesser chance of sickness. We've come to realise it's off season, so I'm guessing these two towns will be relatively ghost like? Not looking for major night life but it's nice to have some people around and a handful of bars and restaurants.

Can anyone share their experiences or local knowledge? Much appreciated!

Update: We’re Aware it will be humid, specifically interested if the quieter towns will be a bust or not out of season

Panic averted! Will keep an eye out for when they go on sale 🙂

Hah no worries I’d probably be the same. Thanks for getting back to me anyway!

Raising this thread/comment from the dead but we're trying to come to Rome next year for the Wales game and it's proving impossible to find tickets outside of Viagogo. Checked the ticketone website and nothing appears.. Am I just being special and they're not actually on sale yet? Any help appreciated!

Agree on the bottom two lines, but I think the A.D. 1895 is something else, found another reference picture.

A lost British pub signOpen Question

I suspect I'm not going to find an exact match for this as it's probably some long lost typeset used by the original sign maker. The closest I've been able to get to so far is Electra / Parkinson Electra. I'm not 100% sure the top "A.D 1895" text is the same type face.

Sadly this sign has been badly damaged and needs replacing, I want to help the owner replace it with something faithful as their sign maker is suggesting Times New Roman..

Any help appreciated!

Ah that’s frustrating, sounds like I should play it safe and get an e-visa. Although there is a good chance I’d be the other side of passport control in Hanoi before my connecting flight but probably not worth the risk.

I have a question regarding the visa exemption that I was hoping someone could help give some direction on. I have a UK passport and will be flying in to Hanoi landing 05:40 on 11th November. To depart I have a flight from Ho Chi Minh to Hanoi (20:00) 25th November with a connecting flight to the UK on 26th November (01:10).

I'm unsure if the Visa exemptions counts the moment we land as day 1, which could mean my final flight could be considered the 16th day OR whether day 1 is counted 24 hours from the moment we go through passport control. In which case in theory the end of my 15th day would be 05:40 on 26th November.

Any advice greatly appreciated!

Depends on your definition of proper cider but Queen’s Vaults on Westgate street used to have a decent selection of boxed ciders, some Somerset, some Welsh. It’s a short walk from the station and near City Arms that others have mentioned.

For sale: Jack Sparrow NECA 18" Pirates Of The Caribbean FigureCollection

Hi NECA fans,

Apologies if I've got it wrong but it looks like the rule on selling has recently changed. I'm selling my 18" Jack Sparrow NECA figure, complete with all additional items (hat, gun, sword, bottle and compass).

It's a lovely figure especially being able to swap around a few of the additional items but it's just not something I'm looking to keep in my collection.

I'm hoping it'll find some love with a new owner :)

I'm not looking to profiteer on this and genuinely not sure what it's worth since I bought it way back in 2004. I've got it listed here, but happy to answer any questions https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/115097054649

Selling my Mondo Tee-Ki Iron Giant Tiki Mugs! (Set of two)

Hey Tiki lovers,

I couldn't see if posting auction links was allowed or not, so apologies if I've missed it and it's against the rules!

I am selling my lovely set of two Mondo Tee-Ki Iron Giant Tiki mugs. These are absolutely gorgeous but I'm not a big collector of these items so I think they will find more love in someone else's hands.

I've got them posted over at eBay, let me know if you have any questions! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/115096995514

A boxed Gorillaz Murdoc CMYK! (White Edition)

Hey all you KidRobot collectors.

I couldn't see anything on the community guidelines about posting listings but I am selling my KidRobot Gorillaz CMYK Murdoc Figure (White Edition). Hopefully it doesn't go against the rules!

It's something I've had since it was first released but for all my collections these figures aren't a real focus so I thought I'd pass it on to someone who will appreciate it far more.

I've got it posted on eBay, happy to answer any questions:

For clarity, she applied for a DBS and was asked to begin work even prior to this being approved. (This came back clear within two weeks).

What appears to happen is that due to the high turnaround of staff that often people are asked to start even without it. The only caveat is that the people without DBS are not allowed to be alone at any time and must be accompanied by someone that has DBS. However what they ARE doing is counting the NON DBS heads within their ratios. From what you’ve suggested this appears to be wrong? Especially combined with the number of people per floor etc..

I suspected that wasn’t how it worked, but with neither of us having detailed knowledge of the regulations (probably along with the staff) they work in this grey area. Would we be right to assume that individuals who are yet to have a DBS check also would not be included in the ratios? As that happens often.

Thanks so much for your input, it has been really helpful. We will make contact with ACAS as suggested, as someone has mentioned the issue around concern for the children’s care, leading to the stress seems our only route for grievance. Especially in context of a disclosure of anxiety at her induction, and then a failure to act on the fit note appropriately.

We’ll proceed with caution with the care inspectorate after discussing with ACAS. But certainly seems like there’s grounds for concern.

The honest answer to the ratios is that generally they were in line, although there is some hard to comprehend technicality around COVID. The key concern is that because they operate to the bare minimum ratio, that as soon as an incident arrises that requires one to one care, or lunch hours where staff coverage would not be equal, one may consider them to be under ratio. HOWEVER the nursery does not share that view as they understand that even if a carer is on that same floor they are providing care to all children (regardless of room).

Yes your interpretation is correct, however she was moved to other rooms just to get a feel for other groups and ages within the company. There was agreement that in January she would then move to another room, however this was an informal discussion. There was no further follow up as a week later the events detailed occurred.

That makes total sense re: the apprenticeship agreement and suspect that this is the case.

Thanks u/pflurklurk. This was my concern, that there appears to be limited options regardless how unjust the situation may feel.

On the whisteblowing point I believe the legal limits are being met, but in practicality children's care is at risk or job expectations are infeasible. To be clear, my partner did not whistleblow however appears to have taken the blame for it and the subsequent inspection.

My partner has a long term anxiety and depression which is managed via medication, this was declared on her induction form. This would have then been re-iterated on her fit note provided to HR/management in November.

Hi u/SomeHSomeE, thanks for your help! This was our fear that routes are limited, regardless how unjust the situation may feel.

Regarding the whistleblowing, to be clear, they received a complaint from the care inspectorate which had been reported (constituting the whistle blowing). This led to an audit. The suggestion was implied that my partner made this complaint. She did not. There is an outline of how to whistle blow but this was only in the handbook. We have only just received a copy of the hand book after her employment ended and repeated requests during her time working there.

On the healthy and safety issue, the honest answer is that it was both. She felt that staffing levels and exacerbated by COVID restrictions meant that the balance between kids care and management expectations was not always achievable. For example, in certain instances children could not be taken to the toilet because the room would be left with too few adults if one left the room. There was no buffer. After airing these concerns with management nothing substantially changed. This lead to her stress as she felt like she was letting both the children and employer down. These stresses were shared by other staff members however given the relative inexperienced young team we're not sure how this may have been communicated.

We will look in to ACAS, thanks for pointing them out as we were not aware.
