Do I have this right? The penalty for a foot fault is loss of serve, but the penalty for an illegal serve is a "do-over"?
Am I crazy to think that this is asinine? There's basically no consequence for serving the ball illegally.
I love the Rosewood Mayakoba. Been there 5 times. It never gets old. The spa is the most beautiful I've ever seen. Perfect service throughout the resort. Not the nicest beach, but that doesn't bother us. We're pool people.
This is a tough crowd with the down votes.
I was actually thinking about these rules in a tournament setting with a referee.
It just seems that pickleball is the only sport (with a ref/umpire) where you can break a rule and not get penalized for it. Am I wrong?
Thanks for the reply. That is a great point.
And I didn't know that you lose serve if you spin the ball. Interesting.
Thanks for the reply. What you're saying would make sense if it were true, but it's not. According to the rules, we replay the point if I disagree with your call of my foot fault. In other words, the foot fault call is not objective. Curiouser and curiouser.

I had the same issue, so I emailed DUPR and asked for an explanation. Here is the response I received:
"Regrettably, the player is unable to be added because her account is unclaimed. In adherence to our rigorous validation procedures, matches involving individuals with unclaimed profiles cannot be processed. This measure is in place to guarantee the authenticity and validity of all matches within our system. We kindly request your understanding in this matter. Once the player with the unclaimed profile completes the necessary steps to claim their account, the system will allow the match to be validated."
Tapping paddles is so stupid. I won't do it. I shake hands. It's a time-honored gesture of good sportsmanship. Pros in every sport do it, including pickleball. Amateurs in every sport do it... except pickleball.
OK. I admit it... I am one of those people.
I cannot stand Patrick. Almost everybody on this sub fawns over him, but I cringe when I see him. David became a caricature when Patrick arrived. Patrick is smarmy, shady, condescending, selfish... all of that and he's still a bore. He is the worst thing that ever happened to the show.
With respect, I was a D1 player. Full-ride scholarship. I know many others who now play pickleball. 4.0 on the first day? No. Hard stop.
I went to a Division I college on a full-ride tennis scholarship. I play pickleball with many very very good tennis players. None (including me) were 4.0 within the first hour, first day, week, or month.
Respectfully... Patrick is a bore. And I see nothing in him that says "great friend." Help me understand.

I am a member of both and I play frequently. I'd say that - broadly - Dill Dinkers (Columbia) players are friendlier. It's a pretty loose group... in the best possible way. Very social. For Open Play, Dill Dinkers will assign you to a court based on your self-rating. However, it's usually tough for a non-member to register for Open Play (especially weekends and evenings). Those sessions fill-up really quickly with members. I'm not a fan of the DD Finksburg location, although many people are. And it's a real haul from Linthicum.
The PutAway is a great facility. Absolutely everything is top-shelf. Ceilings are super high. Court surface is perfect... easier on the legs. Great lighting. Lots of demo paddles to try. Tim, the owner, is the nicest guy. Open Play is structured differently than DD. The PutAway designates specific sessions for specific levels of play. For instance, Open Play for 3.5+ players. Generally speaking, the level of play is higher at The PutAway. You'll find more early morning sessions available here, too.
You can't wrong at either place. I hope this helps.
She and Mr. X getting zero points playing the Newlyweird game. They didn't match answers even one time.
