I have a soft spot for products with cute packaging, fun textures, or delicious/unique scents! I love a functional holy grail as much as the next person, but it's the fun stuff that motivates me to do my routine when I'm feeling blah.
What's a product that injects some joy into your skincare routine, regardless of actual functionality?
Here is one from me: I feel like Peach and Lily's Matcha Pudding Antioxidant Cream brightened my day when it was part of my routine. It was a bit too pricey for me to retain, but the packaging was super cute and it smelled SO GOOD (like fruit loops??).
Go on a sub like r/SkincareAddiction or r/AsianBeauty, read their wikis and threads, maybe search up your specific skin concerns on there. If you're interested in a product or brand, maybe cross-reference with those subs to see how people found them. (And then do your wallet a favor and unsub once you've learned everything you can).
my basic understanding of a solid skincare routine is:
1. cleanser
2. the weird stuff (serums/toners/mystery goop)
3. moisturizer
4. sunscreen
I highly recommend getting a product with a really nice smell or texture or fun packaging, as encouragement to keep up with your routine!
