The land reform that was defeated is what is actually needed. Its amazing to see “neighborhood character” used to wipe out the sort of development partners required by good transit over and over again

I saw this same poster in queenstown NZ!!!

Hoping for a few freeze / thaw cycles this week - thanks for the beta. I go next weekend

Anyone ski it this weekend? How were conditions?

Guess what - the majority of Americans support Israel. Democrats and Republicans and independents. The pro Palestinian crowd is really just shooting themselves in the foot with these tactics - “we won’t vote for you unless you support exactly what we ask for” is terrible especially when there is a stronger and larger group of voters who want the exact opposite of what you are asking for

MBTA below Denver RTD by two tiers is a joke - tells me you haven’t tried to use either system.

MBTA has commuter rail (Denver has none), better bus system, heavy rail, and arguably the most heavily used light rail system in the US. It’s in terrible shape but I feel like RTD is closer to a Dallas DART than any of us want to admit

I live in Eckington/NoMa and run all the time - the MBT to the north is awesome, and if you go south to the mall (like 1 mile away) there is a world class set of parks you can run all over.

People are running on the MBT (metropolitan branch trail) all the time, there is a great NoMa run club, so TLDR yeah it’s a great area to run in

Buy them on sale or used - they last forever. The other brand bags are decent too - north face, Gregory, etc

I have a 100L, 40L, and 55L. I use the 55L the most, 40L often, and 100L least often.

The 100L is solid though when I need it. The real determinant is when I travel to ski my bags are heavy so the 55L serves as my boot bag, 40L is my carry on, and ski bag is separate. I’ve used the 100L for camping/mountaineering trips. It’s also good for long road trips when I’m just trying to keep stuff in a single bag.

I love using all three of my bags, had them for years and I doubt I’ll ever regret using all three of them. Hell I could even use one more since there are times I wish my 55L was just a wee bit bigger and 100L is just a little too big I don’t want my stuff to jostle around too much

Spaghetti in a ziplock bag - preferably cooked - sauce is optional

Spaghetti in a ziplock bag isn’t ideal nutrition? This is news to me

It’s a shitty business - I’m not sure how many times I can emphasize this. They signed up for a bad deal here is what I’m trying to tell you. Look at the history of defense ASIC manufacturing - it’s not pretty

OK so they will build government ASIC’s. Look at the business of the previous owners of that business - Global Foundries, is that a super attractive business to you? Like I said, Government ASIC’s are a rough business look at the profitability of the other companies who have tried this before. Commercial companies will go where their dollar goes the furthest - TSMC and Samsung. IFS has virtually no market share for a reason

Building government ASIC’s is a truly terrible business - our government would be wise to understand this

The X2 is awesome if a bit of a wild ride due to the characters that take it.

My point is the streetcar needs dedicated ROW - and needs to go from at least union station to benning road (what was promised), long term it’s inexcusable not to extend to Georgetown

The truth is the bus system is the backbone of intracity transit in DC - the streetcar is a very fancy upgrade but the better bus network idea may help.

The streetcar is a a great example of why businesses and politicians shouldn’t determine ROW for transit - they made awful decisions and the streetcar is a glorified 3 mile bus route that doesn’t really go between any two particularly useful points

Crazy to read these numbers - from Boston and lived in DC for many years.

What’s tough is I never take the bus anymore - I just bikeshare all over town. Metro is for those rare work or personal trips where I’m going in clothes I don’t want to bike in or the weather is bad.

I use to take the commuter rail in Boston all the time. The biggest miss for me is the commuter rail between DC and Baltimore - the MARC is nice but more weekend options would be nice - train every hour is not ideal for two fairly large IS cities

DC is sorely missing an extension of the H St street car and needs to really realign a good part of it to be train only vs in traffic’s

Well they went 23-7 vs the west this season so if you extrapolate over 82 games they would have won…. 63 games 🤷‍♂️

Imagine being the dude in the back and having this picture

This is the tremendous irony of the entire secession movement - they are a drain on whichever state they are part of financially
