Honestly I think the creative wraps some of the people have put on the truck are kind of cool. I mean, I wouldn't want one personally as it doesn't appeal to me but I can appreciate someone having some fun with the design if it's something that they like.

If the truck wasn't such a dangerous overpriced heaping mess of poor design, poor build quality and reliability issues it would be a pretty cool and unique truck to do this kind of stuff with.

Anyone who could afford a 100k car is putting a lot more than $7596.80 down lol

What a weird number, did he just empty whatever he had in his account?

When we had our kids here in Canada we paid a deposit for the swaddle that holds the baby against the mother.

Basically you just put the kid on the mother's chest and wrap it around the both of them and it has velcro straps to hold it closed. Helps keep the baby and mother warm while keeping the baby securely held incase the mother falls asleep. We returned it when we left the hospital and got the deposit back.

I would assume the charge is to pay for managing the swaddles (managing the inventory, cleaning and sterilizing used ones, replacing old ones when they get worn out etc) $40 is a lot but that's American healthcare for you.

For sure, I'm just saying because Toyotas tend to hold their value better than most cars and so do hybrids so maybe. It's probably a wash though and either way would be speculation.

That's probably a good idea.

One thing you might want to look up depending on how long you plan on owning the car is resale value. The Prime might hold it's value better over time which might make a difference. This is just a guess on my part so I could be wrong.

I saw from some of your other comments that you live in California so your electricity costs are high but your gas prices are high too.

It'll still be cheaper to charge at home over using gasoline but it might take a very long time to pay off the difference in the price of the car.

Also, having visited California a number of times I have a feeling you probably do a lot of highway driving so you might be better off with a regular Prius. Unless your trips are mostly within EV range you'll have a tough time recouping the extra cost of a Prime.

The only deal breaker question is whether you have the ability to charge the car at home. You don't want to have to depend on public chargers because the Prius charges very slowly by EV standards. Now you probably don't need an L2 charger since a standard outlet is enough to fill the battery overnight (12 hours), but you need some method of charging the car at home otherwise you're not making use of the only major difference between the standard Prius and the Prime.

If you wanna do the math you'd have to compare gas prices, electricity prices and any EV rebates that might apply in your area. I live in an area with high gas prices, relatively low electricity prices, and a $7500 tax credit on the Prime. In my case I didn't need to do the math, the Prime was the easily the better option. Your numbers might be a little tighter.

Then you have the more intangible aspects of owning the Prime. I like only having to go to a gas station once every few months. I like the feeling of driving electric. I prefer the electric whirring of the motor over the sound most car engines make when accelerating. I like switching modes to try and get the most of the car. There's no equation here or set of objective facts to evaluate, it's just your feeling and preference. Sometimes you want something just because you want it and as long as you can afford it it's okay.

Very specialized cars with very specialized equipment operating in limited areas in a couple of cities is so vastly different in scope than being able to just buy a Model 3 and have it go off and be a taxi on its own that it's barely in the same category.

By the same logic personal spacecraft to the moon are pretty much a thing because NASA went to the moon several times in the 60s and 70s.

My best guess would be that they cut back on battery cells to reduce weight and price in a car that is still way too heavy and expensive.

That's a great combo for a firestick or any kind of android TV box, for a phone though Stremio's UI is much better imo

A bunch of people on twitter were pretending to be worried about the lichen that grows on Stonehenge because apparently it's a particularly rare kind of lichen.

No words on what effect climate change will have on that poor poor lichen of course.

Wait what about the effects climate change will have on the lichens? No wait never mind, nobody cares about lichens.

If you're worried about your door opening during the car wash just lock it. The recall states that there is only a risk of the door opening when unlocked.

Yeah, given all the tech in modern cars, it's probably a good idea to call the dealership after the cops and insurance. The chance of them being able to help is small, but trying costs you nothing.

What's so difficult to understand? The default state of the world is one in which there is cheap fuel, no traffic, and ample spacious parking spots for me and my Ford F-150.

Any deviation from this default state must be because of some nefarious outside force trying to destroy my way of life.

The opposite, they're trying to find a new tow truck to ride. They're like Lampreys.

You could have an employee stop every customer, tell them that the machines don't give cash back, have never ever given cash back, will never give cash back, and have no physical means of containing and dispensing actual paper bills and you will get at least a couple of people per day ask how you do cash back and insist that they did it last week.

This really shouldn't be hard. The back of a tow truck is the Cybertruck's natural habitat.

Listen man, nothing personal but you all need to go to prison.

The only setting that I've noticed getting reset regularly is the regenerative braking. I like it at full and every few days I go back to its lowest setting. The few other settings that I've changed have persisted.

To be fair there seems to be quite a few cars that can cause phones to get really hot with their wireless chargers. Melting the keycard is entirely a Cybertruck thing as far as I know.

Maybe it's for the best as it's bound to be much safer and more reliable when you can't drive it.

Yeah he's going to find out why a 7000 pound vehicle that accelerates to 60mph in like 4 seconds isn't a very safe idea.
