We are looking for some playtesters for our upcoming City Builder
Crashed three times in 15 minutes :/
Oh can you send your logs / save or détails to [email protected]?
not enough predatory microtransactions
Ha ha!
Switch?
Not planned at the moment!
I'm a big city-builder / simulation strategy fan and also a fellow indie developer. I played the demo month or so ago when it was available on steam for research purposes and, to be upfront, myself and a few of my colleagues found the general experience of the game to be quite mediocre compared to other games of its ilk.
Overall there were a number of inconsistencies in the way you interacted with the systems, some of the gameplay felt rather obtuse and I found the introduction to the game to be pretty tedious overall. I don't really recall every single thing, as it was a while ago, but a couple of key things come to mind that I remember thinking when playing:
During the tutorial I found the fact that you have two different building menu entries for some buildings, but not others wildly confusing. Especially as this was the first one you have to build (the pontoon/jetty). It took me a while to realise that you had a separate entry for the "alt" direction of the sprites and they weren't actually different buildings just a different style or rotation. You're able to flip a building to "rotate it", so I'm unsure why, a building couldn't just support all 4 directions as part of that action key - it just felt like needless friction as a new player and as the first thing you were supposed to build. I remember thinking "which one?!"
I also remember feeling as though the material gathering and research mechanics were both tiresome and unclear, some things you had to press multiple buttons in the UI to achieve but similar things were just a single click or were handled automatically. Again, felt rather inconsistent for no apparent reasson.
I do think the game looks very pretty, but I felt that there was a lack of a hook that really engaged me early on - and after experiencing some of the weird UI/UX quirks I wasn't super excited to keep playing. I never really hit that "flow state" that strong city builders are so well known for.
I was back and forth upon leaving this comment as I may have just had a more critical reaction due to studying these games more closely, and it's entire possible your target audience don't mind.
As we all know game-dev isn't easy so, I genuinely wish you the best with the game, and I hope you're aware of some of the points I've raised and that you manage to iron some of these kinks out before release.
Either way, good luck.
This mirrors my own experience very closely. Clearly an incredible looking game, but it felt unnecessarily clunky and I didn’t find much of a hook.
The visuals alone are enough to keep it on my radar and I’m excited to see what improvements you all make!
Echo this almost exactly. Clunky, some features were good but then just not implemented elsewhere.
Also had to redesign my town a few times due to pathfinding issues which wasn't great.
What thorough and constructive criticism you have brought! I think the game has the atmosphere and the visuals nailed, and hopefully the devs will be able to fix the gameplay issues
They asked for play testers and looks like you answered that request.
I ain't reading all that G but that is impressive
Well it's a good thing it had nothing to do with you and no one cares if you read it or not 🤡
Don't be rude also this comment has nothing to do with you so why did you even reply
this comment has nothing to do with you so why did you even reply
Lol the irony
This also has nothing to do with you
I was giving you the same energy you gave the other guy. Check yourself
Actually I just said it was long and impressive where as you simply poked shit at me
Maybe cause you are shit 🤡🤡
What does that mean
Its almost like it was intended for the developers 🤯
Why do you have to be rude and also I already know that

Why is it in every ad
Because people love dicks.
Who doesn’t??
Thabks! Downloading demo now. Reminds me a lot of the animated show Scavengers Reign. Both art style and setting.
Which in turn reminds me of Mobius artwork 🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌 wishlisted and downloading the demo now 👍
That show was so good. Definitely one of the best things aired last year.
Loved it, unfortunately HBO didn’t renew it for season 2. However it’s coming to Netflix on May 31st so I bet it will get a boost in popularity. Hopefully Netflix will pick it up and support it! I’m telling all my friends to watch it
HBO didn't release it outside of the US from what I've seen (or at least for a while), so OF COURSE it's not gonna be a hit. It's such a disgrace it got candy, I really hope we can get one or two more seasons.
I played the demo of this and really liked it. Wishlisted and stoked for the 1.0 release
I haven't shat in three 3 days and now there's an ad...... 🫠
Are we seeing the same ad?
Eat more fibre
I do enjoy a good builder and haven’t played one in a bit…
Something I’m actually into for once as an ad what a miracle
Game looks neat. I’ll have to check it out tonight
Good ad, something I’m interested in for once :)
Hell ya, this is a really cool way to advertise. I might do this with my company. First, they're offering something - play testing, and second, the comment section is open.
This isn't my type of game, but this might get me to try it out.
Thanks OP!
Seriously. These ads I dont mind seeing because its just someone wanting feedback on their game and this is a good way to advertise that.
Looks interesting. I'd be up for giving it a go
Played the demo. Love the artwork! It reminds me of the Dunmer architecture from the Morrowind island of Vvardenfell (Elder Scrolls Lore). Very chill game. Love the alien-ness of it all.
But!
If you fall just a little bit behind you can't catch up with the changing seasons.
This was several months ago, I'll give it another shot!
Hit me up!! I’d love to try it out!
I like the Moebius style artstyle.
Reach out to spiffing brit on youtube, he likes finding ways to break games and find exploits, ive seen him do a ton of videos with it and it helps the devs figure out what might cause issues in balancing
I don't know if this is just a fluke, but this is the second indie game ad I've gotten on Reddit today
Super nice change of pace compared to all of the stupid fucking Nikke ads I've been getting
So I gave it a shot. The tutorials needs a bit more hand holding after getting water going. Couldnt figure out how to see where the houses need to go. Nothing would link up.
Down ! Where do i sign
Looks like themepark
Just curious, but it seems like you posted this as two weeks ago and it has over 1,200 shares. How many wishlists do you think this ad helped gain?
Love the art. Wishlisted and about to download the demo after work!
First time I got an ad that I was actually interested in. Money well spent!
I just played it for a couple hours and it’s really fun! I like the progression, and the game seems very deep, but introduces every aspect in a very natural way.
The feel of the game is really good! I’ve yet to go on expeditions but I’m loving it so far.
Consider reaching out to Wanderbots on youtube if you haven't already, he plays a lot of early-access city builders on his youtube channel.
Second this!
Wanderbots and probaby RCE (real civil engineer) might like to play the game. Try to hit them up!
I like what I see. I have a newborn so not much time for gaming but I'm wishlisting it and keeping an eye out for this one's development!
Hey there I’d love to play test if you have intrest in steamdeck availability I have one and have been testing games for a few devs!
This is the first promoted thing I’ve seen that is good. This art style is SO good, I will definitely be downloading this demo.
Im a big fan of Against The Storm, so naturally this peaked my interest. How does this game play compared to other city builders?
So a Moebius comic, but… a city builder. I dig it. The visuals are great but the game itself seems great too.
Interestedddd
An ad that allows comments and is actually something I’m interested in? Is this still Reddit?
Nice style but honestly it’s yet again just a bother block city builder with nothing new
I’d love to test it but it doesn’t look like you have it available for Mac 🫤
I love a good city builder. Definitely going to give this a go when I get a chance
I tried the demo of this on Steam Deck, but the top of the screen was cut off?
I love seeing ads for indie games with comments open, I’ll check this out.
This is giving me Dance Gavin Dance vibes back during the early Tilian days
Commenting so I can check this again in the morning. About to fall asleep
Awesome, im looking forward to trying this. I like the art and concept!
I'd do it
I’m going to break it and not tell you so that it stays in the game
This looks like a basic top down city builder with annoying graphics
Shouldn't you be paying professional beta testers to do this job?
I like the art style. Gameplays it more sims or city skylight?
I’ve had this on my wish list forever , how do I play demo ?
Can you elaborate what sort of feedback are you looking for?
I’d love to play your game. City builders are my jam!
Why youre city look like final fantasy 7 sector six
Very big fan of the art style. Gonna give it a shot
This looks cool, I can’t download the demo tho :(
Fake commenter bots, guessing this will be delete
Ok so give us the full game and not just a demo.
Any apps like this that someone could recommend?
Looks really nice 😍 I'd be interested ☺️
Respect for creating an engaging ad. Kudos to
Bot please Remind me in 2 days Looks awesome

It looks fun and I love city building games.
Raises hand like a good patient playtester
Bummer the demo is only for Windows.
I love city builders! Can't wait to try it
Would love to playtest a new city builder
Looks cool! I'll definitely give it a go!
Calling my city Downtown Battle Mountain
What's the best place to give feedback?
I'll playtest! The demo was awesome!
It looks fun. I'm down to play.
Art style is absolutely S tier
