Dinner Reservations? Book ahead or Wing it?

We are leaving next Friday for a two-plus week trip to Greece. We have a lot packed in! We are foodies but not necessarily 5-star every meal. Should we make some dinner reservations in advance?

I would love some restaurant suggestions if you have any! Or any MUST-DO stops/activities. Please Drop in comments.

Here is our itinerary:

Crete (Rethemno) 5 Nights -Kapsaliana Village Hotel

Santorini 2 nights (Firostefani) - Dana Villas & Suites - Hike from Fira to Oia

Sifnos 3 nights - NOS Hotel

Paros (Near Naousa) 3 nights - Mr. & Mrs. White

Athens 1 final night before flying out - Perianth Hotel

July is good as well. I would just discourage you from going Mid-Aug thru Mid-October due to Peak hurricane season and some businesses close during this time of year.

Hello, I have lived in the Virgin Islands for the last 8 years. Stop looking at the weather! LOL It's the tropics, it will always say rain. It may rain for 3 minutes on 5% of the island, who knows. Seriously, I do recommend travel insurance though, for a myriad of reasons including the very off chance of a hurricane. Typically not an issue till Sept/Oct. I'm a travel planner and also do travel insurance if you are interested in a free quote: www.xeniatravelinsurance.com Go, have fun, and dance in the rain if it falls!

HIya, I lived in Turks & Caicos for 8 years. I honestly do not believe All-Inclusive is the way to go for TCI. There is just too many great restaurants and things to do on the island. Unless you are traveling multiple kids, Beaches and the other AI's are not worth it to me personally. Check out Seven Stars, The Palms, or The Sands (if you're on a budget), All are on Grace Bay. Happy to assist, I'm a TCI Travel Planner, so feel free to reach out.

Agree that Costa Rica and Aruba or Curacao would all be good choices that time of year. September is a bit of a challenge but please please get travel insurance. I'm work with all the top suppliers, (RoamRight, Allianz, etc) check out www.xeniatravelinsurance.com for a free quote

Just did it. Switched from Friday to Thursday...so took it one day early. No issues.

I'm a travel planner and have lived in both Turks & Caicos and Virgin Gorda, BVI. Two really excellent choices, June is still a great time to visit. If you want charm and authentic I would choose Virgin Gorda, its a bit harder to get to but that's what keeps is so magical. T&C has lots of great resort to choose from, but for Virgin Gorda I say check out www.villasvirgingorda.com for a private villa or Little Dix Bay for a boutique resort. Let me know if you want any assistance, I would be happy to help.

Everyone said we were moving around too much as well. We leave next FRIDAY. Here is our itinerary:

We are pretty go, go, go people and I'm a travel planner!

Athens (2 nights) Athens Gate Hotel - Acropolis tour booked!

Fly to Crete (4 nights) Kapsaliana Village Hotel

Ferry to Santorini (2 nights) Dana Villa & Suites

Ferry to Sifnos (2 nights) NOS Hotel Suite w/pool & Patio

Ferry to Paros (3 nights) Mr.&Mrs. White

Ferry to Athens (1 night then fly home) Perianth Hotel Acropolis View

It's in a pretty remote area called Wild Cow Run in the Eastwind Estates development. Beachfront and gorgeous!

Why not look at North or Middle Caicos? I have a lot for sale on Middle. I also like Turtle Tail on Provo but agree it's getting harder and harder to find seclusion in Provo. Take a look at the out islands if privacy and seclusion is what you want.

You can find better nightlife elsewhere on the island. Check out the Live Music TCI Facebook page for some options.

I always say you're paying for a travel agent whether you use one or not. Why not get the benefits? Agent commissions are already factored into the price and an agent can have your back if anything goes wrong! Backed by a consortium of agents and agencies, we can bring certain strength in protecting you on your holiday. So, take advantage of the benefits and find a Travel Agent that works for you! Full disclosure....I happen to be a TCI Travel Specialist (and travel insurance) so I may be a bit biased. I would love to assist you: www.xeniatravelco.com

I see someone else mentioned Little Dix Bay, which is nice. But Virgin Gorda, BVI is a super charming destination, still has that authentic Caribbean feel without the over-development. I prefer a villa for the privacy, check out www.villasvirgingorda.com for a great selection of villas on VG. Also, don't forget the travel insurance, I highly recommend getting it. Especially if traveling in hurricane season, contact www.xeniatravelinsurance.com for a FREE quote when you have decided on location.

I'm sure this is frustrating and unfortunately very common. But, from my understanding, you can NOT apply for a work permit without a sponsor/employer. Unless you are applying to be self-employed, in which case they are super expensive and you have to actually start a business (another whole set of headaches)

I leave in 2 weeks and we are staying at Kapsliana Village outside of Rethemno. Very romantic spot.

August will be warm and as a tropical destination rain will happen but it will pass quickly typically. I vote Seven Stars over Ritz. Rent a car for sure, it's worth it and there is so much to get out and explore in TCI. Taxis are expensive. Contact Grace Bay Car Rentals, or Scooter Bobs for a budget option. I was lucky enough to live and work in TCI for over 8 years! Have a great trip. I would love to assist with your travel insurance, I work with all the top companies. Middle Caicos, Turks & Caicos Islands. 48 sq mile island, about 200 residents live there. Remote and stunning, you just feel like this is what the Caribbean was before people messed it up.

November can still be a great time to visit, its off-season so pricing is lower too. I'm a travel agent and send folks there all the time along with other Caribbean destinations. I'm also a broker for Travel Insurance and agree don't travel without it, even when its NOT hurricane season. Would be happy to give a FREE Quote and assist: www.xeniatravelinsurance.com

I'm running at about the same pace as you. Seems like I've slowed down now that Its the last 15 lbs or so. Best of luck to you!

Second Costa Rica or even Belize. Would be happy to help if needed, I'm a Travel Planner!

Well, just depends on your budget. I'm a Travel Agent if you want some help, I don't charge you any fees. Xeniatravelco.com Check out The Palms, it's a great all-around resort in a great location.

Not my favorite. It's not a "real" beach, it's small and man-made. But, I'm also not a fan of All-inclusive resorts in TCI....just too many good restaurants to try out. And so many great resorts in better locations. No wrong answer of course but I don't recommend AI's (in TCI) unless its with kids and then just go to the Beaches Resort as it has it all.
