We are in Naxos at this moment. After Crete and Santorini, I can report that driving in the city is more challenging (back streets near the Airbnb). Parking anywhere near the residence is pretty impossible, but the vibe is def. More authentic. Way fewer t-shirt shops if you know what I mean.
Was it a multi day rental, and if so, were you concerned about parking it overnight (security wise)?
1:05 - “Well’p, I guess I’m going to Des Moines for Thanksgiving” (executes a 180)
Same. The 848 is the "grocery getter", but will track it this season for the first time. Tired of wearing those tires only in the middle.
Jesus CHRIST it's the other group's fault.
Thought you were going to feed it to the corgi for a minute there.
Dang it all! (Just watched the video). The photo and your caption (newbie) is hilarious.
What city are you in? Figuring distance from so. Virginia
Not even Ducati needs that much attention. Your manual will (should) list the intervals.
One more thought as you try the extractor: a little heat with a Benz torch prior to the effort is never a bad idea.
Holy crap, I never even heard of that - thanks. As it happened, I cannibalized my trailer light harness (pin size = battery tender) making a pigtail for jumper cables, because… priorities. The thinking was I wasn’t sure if there was an ongoing issue. Didn’t need it, thankfully (but I do now need trailer lights)!
Because the Ducati ones suck @$$
I’m going with slot/dremel. You don’t want to fracture that aluminum case by using a hammer. That said, I stripped out one of the 3mm Allens holding in the screen filter. Driving to the h.w. Store for the right extractor was well, well, (well2) worth it.
Oh man I’m sorry. I also had a spill, turn 1 in the wet. They gave me the option: chariot, or ride counter to traffic back to the pit exit. If you’re the one who f’ed up his shoulder: doubly sorry.
Hope it went well for you - it sure did for me (esp the afternoon, obviously)
I skipped the first session due to dead battery - I left the ignition on accidentally before leaving for the rider's meeting (2 kind neighbors pushed - still nuttin).
Second morning session was my first. 3 laps in I ran off straight ahead at turn one, not used to the wet - rear end was all over on the downshift. I saved it until I was down to walking speed, when, while congratulating myself for my awesome prowess, down i went. No damage, just a tip-over, really.
Then the afternoon - dry track and a transition from survival mode to limit exploration.
I literally just returned from Santorini last week. While we intended to book ATVs, the weather wasn’t looking so great and by that time we were already arrived. I think you’ll find plenty of rental car people right there at the port with lots of options in stock, especially if you aren’t looking for anything fancy.
We ended up with a small Peugeot manual transmission that had seen a few wars. More than sufficient! Right around $55 for the 2 days we needed it.
Cheap car rental
