Thank you so much. That helped inspire me to stop marinating in my tears, snot, and misery. I added some more of his toys around his urn. I’m also going to try to propagate some variegated pothos in his water bowl, so I can continue the ritual of giving him water and be able to see some life in his shrine. Obviously that ache is never going to go away, but it did bring me some comfort.

I should be celebrating Pavlov's 12th birthday today

I should be celebrating Pavlov's 12 birthday today. It's my first of his birthdays without him, and it hurts.

I think my brain usually tries to shield me from the grief by tricking me into thinking he's at the groomer's or the vet's, and that we're both just waiting for the call that I can bring him home again. It's like a defensive utilization of the concept of object permanence. But, that defense is failing when I feel I should be especially doting on him today. There's such a glaring absence where he should be, and my heart feels simultaneously hollow yet heavy.

Hi! May I get the Snake Pit bundle please?

ISO of samples or decants of: * D&F We Took the Gig for the Mileage Write-Off * NCD Siberian Tiger * NAVA OP: Pakhet * NAVA Pyramid of Khufu * BPAL Snake Oil * Solstice Scents Smoky Mountain Mallow EDP * DE Quan Yin (2.5 ml or 6ml)

I’d prefer to get at least 3 of the above to feel that shipping is worth it, but I may be open to 2 of the above plus samples or decants of certain NAVA PC/SL, BPAL GC, or DE aquatics/florals; though I don’t tend to go for scents that are heavily gourmand (I have enjoyed my SMM oil sample & Fantome Namba, however), fruity (with the exception of some citrus or berry notes that aren’t very tart or jammy), or camphoraceous.

Fragrance reminiscent of dog paws?Perfume - Enquiry

My baby boy Pavlov was suddenly diagnosed with cancer, and passed away a few short days after. All the little things about him that are now missing in my life feel like someone has been taking a dull melon baller and scraping away at me. One aspect that feels like a big gaping wound is not being able to sniff his paws ever again.

I know some people say their dog's paws smell like Fritos. I think that's kind of close, but his were also perhaps just a smidge yeasty/bready or musky? He was an indoor dog, so it wasn't a dirty or wild smell, but there was a kind of subtle sweetness and animalic tinge to it. Maybe like a clean person who's started up the teeniest bit of a sweat from being in the kitchen who is placing some unsweetened cornbread in front of you? Idk.

Sorry, I don't have the most experienced or discerning nose. But, I would appreciate any recs. Thank you in advance.

This is another new-to-me house! Thank you for letting me know about them and about this scent in particular!

I love the vibes that this description evokes. Thank you for the recommendation!

Thank you for the reminder. It's been a while since I've tried new/lighter/fresher perfumes from Poesie, but I do think I detect a certain similarity linking all the Poesie scents in my collection once applied to my skin. I still think they sound lovely, but I may make them lower priority on my list of fragrances I'd like to try.

Thank you for these! That second one sounds especially comforting what with the rice and green tea.

Both the house descriptions + your own impressions of these scents sound lovely. Thank you!

Eee, you listed so many! Much appreciated!!

I'm not familiar with this house, but this sounds delightful. Thank you!

Clean, Serene Aquatics?Perfume - Enquiry

AKA I'm anxious and depressed, and would like to self-soothe with a fragrance that will trick me into feeling like a calm, cool, and collected non-disaster with a zest for life.

Hi, all! I really enjoy Deconstructing Eden's Quan Yin (Formulated for a dear friend, Quan Yin is rice flower, willow branches, dove feathers and healing waters. The very essence of mercy and compassion.) and Laurel and June's Luna (Crystal white amber, night blooming jasmine and lotus flowers; heather, fig blossoms, cool night rain).

I love how these feel very soothing and clean without being soapy, too reminiscent of laundry, or powdery. Also, I like how the florals play a major supporting role without fully taking over; possibly it is my inexperienced nose, but I feel like they blend pretty seamlessly with the water rather than being discrete and identifiable.

I would really appreciate any help finding similar scents, especially if they perhaps include: * an element such as citrus or pear that adds a touch of a bright, crisp, fresh vibe rather than being full-on fruity, tart, or jammy; * a dry element such as sand, sawdust, parchment, or a dry woody element; * some greens while still being a very clear/blue scent overall (I like scents that include ferns, tomato leaf, sweet basil, mosses); AND/OR * a trace of a spice, e.g., a smidge of carnation, pink peppercorn, salt, or white pepper

For what I have in mind I would prefer to avoid: gourmand notes, creamy elements (such as some vanillas and woods like sandalwood), thick/syrupy/sticky-smelling elements (e.g., strong honey or golden ambers), very heady or jammy florals, laundry, pine/conifers, eucalyptus, camphor, peppermint, cantaloupe, honeydew, mango, banana, coffee, motor oil/gasoline, cannabis, metallic notes, strongly powdery notes such as orris, strong leather

I'm looking both for recommendations that are Audible exclusives which don't have the banner/were not published under Amazon Studios (e.g., Dungeon Crawler), as well as for titles that people have noticed are available for purchase (on Audible or other similar platforms) but not available to borrow on the Overdrive catalog or Hoopla (e.g., Piranesi). Sorry if this wasn't clear.

Sorry my question was so unclear—as much as I appreciate the written/spoken word, I often have difficulty putting my own thoughts into words, particularly when I am confused or overwhelmed, so frustration abounds on all sides.

I'm primarily wondering about if anyone can tell me about Audible exclusives which seem to be missing a banner/are not under Amazon Studios or audiobooks which are only available for purchase through a service such as Audible, Kobo, or Chirp and are not made available for borrowing through a library. Examples I've found so far include the Dungeon Crawler Carl series, the Clocktaur War duology by T. Kingfisher, Piranesi by Susanna Clarke, Nine Coaches Waiting by Mary Stewart, and The Murmur of Bees by Sofia Segovia.

I think you've helped me figure out how to ask my question less ambiguously, so I think I may just delete this post and create a new one with better wording. Thank you for your help.

Through the Overdrive website or via the Deep Search option on Libby, one can view if a specific ebook or audiobook is available through Overdrive for one's individual library to purchase. The only thing is that this is only shown on a title by title basis. It's fairly safe to say that I would be able to access anything on Overdrive or Hoopla; I am just wondering what specific books or versions of books people may have found on Audible but can't get through their library.

I guess I should amend what I said to Overdrive then. With multiple library cards, I am able to access a pretty good selection, or they will purchase any suggestions that are carried on Overdrive.

It may be more accurate to say that I am wondering what the popular Audible exclusives are. Or for cases such as the Clocktaur War duology, which is available for purchase on other services such as Audible, Chirp, or Kobo; but is not available to borrow on Hoopla (to my knowledge) or Overdrive.

Thank you! I've got that on my wish list! :)

Yay, I’m glad! :) I finally got around to starting the first book today.

On the Amazon website (not Audible), you can go to “Manage content and devices” under Account Settings, then click on “Audiobooks.” The titles shown should not include any Plus catalog books but will show any books borrowed through Prime reading with accompanying audiobooks.

To differentiate purchased versus borrowed books, you can click on “See more” under a specific title. If purchased, it will say “Acquired on [date acquired]”; if borrowed, it will say “Borrowed on [date borrowed].”

Nice! I likely would have done the same, but I'm trying to save money and fortunately those are available on the Libby app through my library.
