Read as much as you can, clarify what you don't understand, if you can "guess" the meaning of an unfamiliar word from context - great, if you can't - may the dictionary help you. Also, keep in mind, that language used in fantasy (same goes for fairytales) is rather peculiar.

Мне в принципе претит попытка записать русскую речь латиницей - это вообще не наш алфавит - зачем? Почему латиницей, а не деванагари или древнеегипетскими иероглифами? Для простоты изучающих? Тогда зачем вообще учить русский, если не готовы учиться пользоваться кириллицей?
В широких массах подобные проекты отклика не найдут - вспомнить хотя бы как отменяли яти (ѣ) с ерами на конце слов (ъ) - даже эти изменения прижились только потому, что были безоговорочно навязаны сверху.
Но по-отдельности каждый волен страдать тем, чем хочет - времена такие.
