I didn't watch a single full game this year, which is saying something because I usually watch as many Bulls games as I can.
I'd argue the post-Jimmy Bulls were more interesting than these Bulls the past two years, mainly because you had young guys like Lauri and Zach who flashed a ton of potential (I still hate Boylen with every fiber of my being tho)
If the starting lineup is Giddey/Coby/Matas/PWill/Vuc(?), they'll probably be pretty damn bad. But that is exactly what they should be doing. The two main objectives for next year should be 1) retaining the top 10 pick and 2) giving the young guys as much playing time as possible to develop.
Watching that lineup will be way more interesting than watching a team you know is only going as far as the play-in IMO.
I love the emotion, welcome to the league kid!
The criticism for not maximizing the value they could have gotten for AC is absolutely warranted; AK should've realized last offseason this team was going nowhere. Now he's stuck trying to find a trade partner for Lavine (who would've been way easier to trade prior to the foot injury), plus DeMar is likely walking in FA.
And while I like Giddey as a player, the rub with him is that he's entering the last season of his rookie contract, which is typically when you would extend a player. Not sure if the Bulls do that or they play it out, but if he ends up panning out that would cost them even more money in a potential extension.
Its just overall bad execution by AK, and that definitely deserves criticism. But I will give him some credit for finally realizing the Bulls need to rebuild, and Giddey is the type of player you want to bring in for that.
Oh Arturas, you rascal!
Really hoping this trade signals the Bulls blowing up and starting over. Love Caruso but this Bulls team is going nowhere.
I also like Giddey. Obviously needs to develop his 3 pt shot but the playmaking ability intrigues me.
Punter is the obvious pick, of course!
True, Olin was a 3rd rounder
Poles got Braxton Jones in the 5th round, I'm confident he can find good iOL in the 3rd or 4th round.
He's genuinely pumped, I love to see that
Somewhat related but when I was a kid I was at a fundraising event with my family, and one of the items in the silent auction was an autographed Mark Prior jersey. My brother was a huge fan of his and asked my parents if he could bid on it as an early birthday gift. They gave him a budget and he bid on it, ended up getting in a bidding war with a guy who was probably in his early 30s. The guy ended up winning and my brother was crushed, only to be given the jersey by the guy right after as a gift.
Moments like that remind me that even though at times it seems like the world is a negative place, there are plenty of good people out there.
The Bears receiving core in 2021 was a declining Allen Robinson, Darnell Mooney, Marquise Goodwin, and Cole Kmet.
The Bears receiving core in 2017 was Kendall Wright, Markus Wheaton, Kevin White and Zach Miller. Then the Bears traded a 7th rounder for Dontrelle Inman later on in the season.
Fields was dealt a bad hand to start, no arguments there. But I'd argue Mitch's was worse.
Always a class act. Best of luck to Justin.
Well Twitter told me Caleb was a bad teammate, so this Brenden guy must be full of shit.
Love him or hate him, he built those championship teams. Pretty inexcusable, especially considering it was his widow.
Wow, brutal for Krause’s wife
I've thought about this a lot, and to me I think its the narrative that was created on the draft nights for each guy.
When Mitch got drafted, it was immediately scorned as a bad pick. Hell, he got booed at a Bulls game two days after. When he struggled it just confirmed that initial reaction and the fans were quick to drag the guy around.
When Fields got drafted, he was hailed as the savior of the Bears by most fans. When he struggled, those fans pointed to everything else but Justin because it didn't fit their narrative of him. They can't admit that maybe they were wrong.
Both guys got caught up in the media machine in Chicago, albeit on opposite ends of the spectrum. Its a shame because they're both good dudes who gave it their all, just didn't pan out.
Warren and Poles, I’m looking at you.
“Half back toss, they’ll never see it comin!!”
Exactly. Ultimately it doesn't matter who he passes up, its whomever he chooses. I could care less of its Fields, Caleb, Maye, etc. as long as they ball out for the Bears.
Fields was great today, no doubt about it. But I wouldn't say he's definitively made the case to be the franchise guy.
Poles needs to do his due diligence and scout every top prospect, including QB. Its what any good GM would do.
Poles has a very tough decision this offseason. But its the best kind of problem to have.
I get why the Bulls would want to bring PDub back given their going into rebuild mode. But you can't convince that this isn't an overpay right now.
Could it end being a good deal? Sure, but thats a big if. Pat has struggled to stay on the court (2 season ending injuries in 4 seasons) and when he's been on the court, its been mixed results at best. Hoping he proves me wrong.
