Anyone in/near Oreoi (Evia) interested in grabbing a beer?

31m from Berlin. I'm here the next 3 days and wondering if there's anyone here I can grab a beer or dinner with.

Buying a studio in Berlin or 3 bedroom apartment in Bremen

I am looking to buy a flat for own use (single guy with no commitments and 90% WFH). I live in Berlin but commute to Bremen semi-frequently. Should I buy a studio apartment in Berlin or a 3 bedroom flat in Bremen? Would appreciate some advice!

Berlin

  • (Pros) Much better city than Bremen great for single person
  • (Pros) I could always find someone to rent the studio if I had to move out in worse case
  • (Cons) Tiny studio and 2 people cannot live in it and having a partner means moving out

Bremen

  • (Pros) Much more space
  • (Pros) Cheaper too
  • (Pros) I can make it my only home and no more hassle of finding another flat if I have a family
  • (Cons) Dead social life and less opportunity? - can anyone advice here?

Hmm the issue I am having is that it doesn't seem to understand the context of the notes for searching - am I doing something wrong?

So I had a note with some thought about ETFs and also about quantum mechanics. But when I search for "physics", it doesnt show me the note I had about quantum mechanics (also searching for finance doesnt bring up ETF notes), but rather I had to search the exact term. I don't know if I am doing something wrong.

Hmm actually there are all sold out over the weekends and you gotta buy them few weeks in advance (which I had done)!

Ah I see!

Well since I cannot go tomorrow and I have heard there is generally a queue with people waiting for hours, hoping someone can indeed take it off my hands.

Selling an entrance ticket (3 euros) to Vabali tomorrow around 3.30PM - any takers?

As the title says, I am not gonna be using it tomorrow as something else has come up. DM me!

I feel like it sounds like some thillana in raaga Tilang(?)...but I am really bad at these things :D

Hey I play carnatic electric mandolin (not exactly a beginner but not too advanced here) but I can add few words. Also I dont know much about western music. So let me share my very limited knowledge:

First of all, Vasantha in western notes would be (different to what you stated) Ascending: C F E F A B C Descending: C B A F E C# C Here C is the root note. Note that ascending notes are different to descending.

Yes, you should follow the ascending and descending rules as set by the scales but feel free to play a bit to get the feeling of the raaga. For example the FEF in ascending should go together and cannot be split to play CFB for example but rather you can play CFEFB instead.

I use an app called "Shruti" from playstore that has list of all raagas and their western and carnatic notation.

1) On using other raagas: Now Vasantha is a child raaga (Janya) of a parent raaga (Melakartha) called sooriyakantam. Vasantha is dervied from Sooryakantham by removing some ntoes from the parents scale. If you want to have some 'progress', from my small head you have 2 options: a) "Vasantha"->"Sooryakantham"-> Play other child raagas of Sooryakantham b) Use 'Graha bedam' of Sooryakantham to 'progress' on raagas (namely Senavati and Latangi) So revathi has two note (pa and ni) that is outside vasantha raaga but still can serve as a progression as they kinda offer similar feel in some sense. It depends completely on you ofc as there are too many possibilities branching out from vasantham depending on what mood you wanna go for.

2) You best bet is to identify the melakartha raaga (parent scale) and get other closer similar raagas from all its children raagas (example would be bindumalini and chakravaganam that use the literally the same notes but the scales have different order; many such examples). Or progress using 'graha Bedam'. Or you can find similar raagas by mood of the raaga even thoguh the parent scales might be completely different.

3) Hmm I dont konw. But when I play carnatic instrument, the gamakas (sliding) should help bring out the raagas themselves. There are many types of sliding you can do. But for starters, just simple sliding between notes should have a good start. Also for example in vasantha the FEF in ascending scale should be slided to give a good feeling.

5) Youtube 'U srinivas vasantha' (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIa43YQoJ24) or just 'carnatic instrumenal' in general etc., There are also tons of çarnatic piano' videos.

6) Wikipedia melankartha and Janya raaga. Or use Shruti app.

Again I am not sure it helps but hope it gives you some quick leads!

Absolutely amazing to connect with someone in Berlin! Let me DM you!

Hey Kaichou, thanks for the comment and yes that would be really fun! Let me PM you!

Hey Suffraghetti! Thanks for the comment and thats a great shout! Let me definitely reach out to them!

Hey Torusle! Thanks for your comment!

I can definitely imagine how similar Indian music should sound for some new, absolutely. The thing is that there are multitude of scales in Indian classical music and there slides between notes that makes it different to western classical.

Here is what a regular concert would look like (randomly picked from YT). Singer are sitting with violinists and percussionists. They sing songs in various scales and beats over course of 2 hours.

While South Indian Carnatic music is primarily vocal in nature, let me give a quick reference to one of the best 'carnatic mandolin' player U.Srinivas's recordings. I play the same instrument albeit terrible.

  • Here is him playing a song called 'Siva Siva Siva' in a scale called Panthuvarali
  • Here is him freestyling 3 different scales Nattakurinji, Dwijavanthi and Hemavati
Anyone in this sub based in Berlin or Germany?MISC

Hey y'all, I'm based in Berlin and I play carnatic mandolin (very mediocerly you've been warned). It's a bit of a lonely world there and I was wondering if anyone in this sub is based in Berlin or Germany. Would be fun to meet up, discuss, Collab etc

PS: currently in Chennai enjoying the music festival. Enjoyed some rare sucharitra, ragavardhini and kalavathi.

Absolute long shot but is anyone here in into carnatic music?Question

I play carnatic mandolin (something like like U Shrinivas) and looking to connect with people who listen or perform anything carnatic!

PS: To the unawares, Carnatic music is basically South Indian classical music

I open an account on scalable. Wait few days for verification. Literally transfer money and buy ETFs..

Did they mess this up for you as well? Oh man, it's funny that how 'refer to the zussatzblatt' is longer than 'title is permanent' which is the only thing written in the zussatzblatt. But is super annoying indeed to carry this at all times for the next 10 years 😓

Yup but thet were very unhelpful. They simply repeated I get a zussatzblatt. Also this bürgermant messed up my driver's license application and documents so not a lot of trust in them..

Niederlassungserlaubnis erlaubnis now has a zussatzblatt?

Hey guys,

Back in 2021 I converted my blue card to Niederlassungserlaubnis which did not come with a zussatzblatt which is what I would have expected.

Since the card expired in 2022 (as my passport expired in 2022)I had applied for a new renewed card for the Niederlassungserlaubnis. This time it came with a zussatzblatt. This zussatzblatt simply said that the "visa is indefinite".

The message in the zussatzblatt itself is fine but I am surprised I got one at all. There were 2 threads in the internet and they said they did not even get any zussatzblatt.

Would be grateful for some enlightenment here 😊

Hi PJ, ,had a fun night with Mr.Mustache indeed 😊

I'm still out and about, walking around altstadt 😁
