I’m learning a lot here and changing up how I play, but I haven’t seen much about how to handle housing.
My old process was to build shelters as needed to ensure no one is ever homeless, then around mid-game (which was year 4 or 5 for me) I would start destroying those and replacing with racial housing. Big shelters seem like a scam since they waste planks (even if it’s more efficient wood-wise) and the goal was racial bonuses anyway. I also used to cut down a lot more glades and have tons of space around my hearth to sprawl these out, so I never used the house upgrades. But I would highly prioritize the two cornerstones that add more space to houses.
When you limit the glades you cut and the space available, and also the materials, and overall time spent on a settlement, what’s the optimal way to handle housing?
My favorite is when the ones from 2laneroadsville come and shout “tHe lEfT LAnE iS fOr pAsSiNg!!” Like bro there are 5 lanes and a HOV, exits on the right and left side, and express lanes that open and close based on the time of day, welcome to the big city.
