Sorry for the late response, I meant to get back to you sooner, yea kinda strange but I already had a TikTok channel so we’re just going to be posting casual updates as we go to that. If you’re interested it’s “18ga_or_bust”. I used to be an educational channel for emt/paramedic/firefighters hence the name reference to a 18 gauge IV needle haha.

So far so good, waterproofing is decent, it’s got all 4 sides openable, all sides have blackout and mosquito netting options, comes with a 2in memory foam mattress, condensation pad, and and felt mat just for padding. Included is a led strip affixed to the passenger side of the tent, on the same side is a 2x marine 12v “cigarette lighter” style plugs as well as 2x USB-A chargers that you can power through a connection on the bottom of the tent. Very little movement besides the open awnings even with 15+mph winds. Additionally with my S/O sitting in it rocking back and forth, the top bit would wiggle slightly but not concerning it for how much she was trying to move it, and I was actually astonished at the lack of movement to the vehicle itself, even with her rocking back and forth there was the worlds slightest creaking coming from one of the support bolts but nothing structural. Honestly man, it’s been about 2 weeks that we’ve had it, I’ve had it just popped up on the car the entire time because it unfortunately due to our own negligence got wet on arrival. So with it being rainy and windy for the past 3 days it’s been fine.

Exactly $1300 w/ shipping 1099 for the tent 199 shipping. Got it on Amazon

Items name to avoid dropping a link: “Rooftop Tent, Naturnest Roof top Car Tent Hard Shell for Camping, Pop Up Rooftop Tent For Jeep Wrangler Van SUV Truck Bed Tent Roof Top with Mattress, LED Strip, Ladder, USB Module, 2-3 People”

Yup just enjoying a little bit of the New England summer prior to the begging of the trip

Maybe the room was the friends we made along the way?

IM CRYING LAUGHING AT THE LINE “the marmots learned how to get around the wire”

I’m lost, do people not understand the availability of seat cushions? Who gives a hoot how rough the ride is when i hit a pot hole and STILL have an un-cracked raw egg between my tush and my egg sitter™?

Ain’t nothin worth stealing really

Thank you sir! It has been chilly, I stupidly bought these doors this “summer”, summer being march in New England. I literally had doors off one day it was 27°f so…it’s at least getting tolerable now that it’s around 40-60 daily

I had the same issue actually, I got the work around of putting it vertical, letting it fall onto a folding table the standard white ones for events/craft fairs and from that height it was perfect for just having her go under and push up with me to get it lipped up onto the roof, then with her holding it but most weight on the roof I slid out and pushed it from off the table onto the roof, it’s HEAVY and I would not recommend doing what I did especially for what I’m assuming is a much higher van roof unless you have like 3 people at least, keep in mind we are 24 and 25 average build people who workout occasionally.

Beyond that, tents great. The mattress is solid, I’m still looking at the electrical trying to figure out how I want to do that. Gets BLACKOUT of even in daylight, and It’s early, but I am really happy with the purchase.

I actually bought a 12v back massager cushion haha.

Additionally having a 2 door jeep just means I have very little room for personal effects, so having additional storage although not ideal, is damn near required for a 2 month trek just so we can optimize space inside the car for clothes and food.

Yea I mean we’re taking a jeep so we want to do…more than most, hence why we went RTT not teardrop/trailer. We’re not planning on like “off-roading” or “mudding” if you will. But yea like driving out onto the salt flats and desert out west and maybe some mountain range or camp site area, but I can’t imaging anything insane. And as for the tailgate, I get the departure angle concern and it’s warranted but I figured if end all be all and I know I’m not going to clear something, I’d rather just take the pin out and take it off for a minute across the whatever obstacle

About to have our first one tonight when I get off work!

OEM doors too be put back on soon! The half doors are just for town cruising pre-trip

Yeaaa gas is gonna be the biggest expense I foresee

I do have doors for it, it’s just warm where I’m at now and want to enjoy it before the long treck. The standard OEM doors will be going back on prior to the start of the trip
