If it was not found in the wild, DO NOT LEAVE IT IN THE WILD. It belongs in a tank. Turtles who have no experience surviving in the wild are not adept at doing so PLUS they can introduce illnesses that are otherwise not present in that ecosystem. Likewise, the ecosystem could cause the turtles' death due to unfamiliar disease, lack of foraging skills, and/or attacks by other turtles and other wildlife.
If it was found in the wild, it could probably be left by a pond where it was found.
