They’re awesome! Best in the business in my opinion 😁

Okay, thank you.

I will go to the head tenant with that 😁

Returning flat bondTenancy & Flatting

Kia Ora everyone,

I’m in a bit of a situation - and would love your advise!

I joined a flat late December 2023, and am leaving overseas in May so handed my notice two weeks ago.

When I joined the flat, I signed an agreement with the head tenant (so between head tenant and flatmate)- but I didn’t sign a shared tenancy agreement. In this agreement it states;

“At the end of this agreement, the head tenant will return the bond to the flatmate immediately. The head tenant can deduct from the bond any cost which is outstanding and is the responsibility of the flatmate”

A few days after I announced I was leaving, the ‘head tenant’ announced he was leaving the flat too. Other flatmates aren’t going to continue the rental agreement, so the whole flats tenancy will also end.

Due to this, the head tenant claimed that my bond is with the tenancy services, and that I’d have to wait until the bond returnal process is completed until I get my bond back.

My question is - should my bond be returned straight away (as I know I haven’t done any damage to the property) to me through the head tenant or do I have to wait until the tenancy services return the bond to him?

My position is that if my bond is tied into the collective flat, there could be a situation that I lose that due to landlord claiming damages etc - when I wasn’t responsible for any of it and I will be overseas so unable to put up a big fight about it.

Hi, what did you end up doing with this? I'm a Kiwi looking to go in May - and staring down fees with are pretty much the price of hiring the car to get the 'medium' coverage of insurance.

Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated :)

Job hunting - anything goesQuestion/Help Wanted

Kia Ora everyone!

I’m moving up to Auckland to start a teaching diploma in 2024. I need a job though, and one that is outside of school hours 😁 I will be living in Panmure - I do have my own transport. I’m looking for around 30 hours, can do nights and weekends 🤠

I have a wealth of experience in a range of roles; customer service, labour roles, administrative roles and people orientated positions. I’m keen to do anything as long as I can fit my studies around it 😌

If you know of anything, please drop a comment or a message!

Thank you 🙏

Also, why is this in the PersonalFinanceNZ sub? 💀

Family going in on a home

Kia Ora everyone,

I'd love some insight, advise & feedback on whether the below is a wise move or not, thanks in advance!

So I'm 23, I have just come back from an OE and have started a job earning $65,000. I have no assets, and my only debt is a student loan. I do not have any savings. I am flatting with a group of friends.

My parents 57 & 59, are both working with a combined income of around $140,000. Their assets include a few motor vehicles, and that is about it. They do not have much savings, other than Kiwisaver. They are currently renting a property.

We were discussing the option of buying a house together, in which they could live in. This is probably quite tricky to arrange, but it seems possible and something that I am open to.

Is it advisable for us to go in on a property together?

- Has anyone had an experience doing this with family before? How did it go?

- Would I be able to get FHB grant, with my parents included in the property?

- What are some of the things we need to look out for?

- Anything else?

Thanks for much in advance guys, happy Friday!

I'm definitely battling the two. I can't switch on when it's work time, and I can't switch off when it's chill time.

I will need to find ways to seperate the two for sure.

Thank you for the advise!

WFH but getting out of homeDiscussion

Hi guys,

I’ve recently started a role that is fully remote. Initially I thought I’d find being by myself a joy, but hasn’t been the case.

I’m wondering what you guys do to spice up the WFH life a little bit?

Such as working at communal office spaces, or how you cope with getting outside the same 4 walls during the day??

Cheers 🍻
