Cretaceous period, if that helps at all. I don’t understand formations well enough. It is perplexing because the “NJ megs” seem to be unverified or third hand fish stories. For reference, the predominant finds in the area are goblin and crow sharks.
Misses 22 consecutive shots, only one chance left. Bullseye. Wow, how lucky…
Bluefish, dogfish, bonita, eels, mackerel, bunker. Take your pick. Porgies will work, but it’s not going to be nearly as effective as those other baits.
Waking up in the morning is a trigger too
Never heard of anyone selling them by the half dozen before. Thats pretty much the going rate for a dozen now tho. It’s insane
Yes sir, and us Land Based Shark Fishermen release damn near every shark we catch and there are a few of us collaborating with universities and non-profits on research projects. I’ve worked with Monmouth University on post release mortality studies on sandbar and sand tiger sharks. Have had fish acoustic tagged in Jersey ping all along the coast as far south as central Florida.
The reason activists hate us so much is because they don’t see what happens to them offshore. Out of sight out of mind. We make every effort to fight the fish quickly and release them healthy. Collectively, as a community, we have minimal impact. The data collected from us is also a net positive for sharks, as it will inevitably be used to draft future regulations. But I get it, we’re in plain sight catching sharks, it’s a hard sell.
You are imposing your own beliefs upon the rules here. It is quite obvious that this is not an activist only group, there may be many activists in here, but it’s not exclusively for them. There’s even a rule that says no illegal fishing, which indicates even shark fishing isn’t expressly prohibited. There are many shark fishermen who don’t agree with the “sharks are overpopulated, kill em all” mentality, but it is also true that sharks are regulated on a regional level and a general threatened designation doesn’t necessarily mean there cannot be areas with healthy and sustainable populations. You’re reading between lines that aren’t there, why wouldn’t the mods just put “for activists by activists”, you think they prefer to rely on a vague, invisible implication instead?
Live bait: killies, snapper blues, peanut bunker, finger mullet.
Dead bait: all of the above and add spearing and strip baits like squid and fluke belly.
Artificial: bucktails tipped with gulp w. a teaser with either gulp by itself or a natural bait above.
Twist cap double serving OG monster only for me. Bring on the reaper.

- Don’t use lures too light for your line.
Or
- After your lure lands in the water, shut the bail and pull some drag manually before you start your retrieve. This prevents loose line deep in your spool that will cause a wind knot on a later cast.
Totally forgot the logo was at the end. My bad.
Not horror, but Clerks.
It will penetrate no problem, for even better results crimp the barb. This will help immensely with the release process too.
It’s highly unlikely at this point, but I will keep my eyes open. Out of all the repairs I’ve done, I still haven’t even had one show up at the doorstep yet. Maybe you’ll get lucky, but even if so, you’ll only be on borrowed time as there are no repair parts available or being produced at the main factory. I’d suggest moving onto a newer drone to avoid major headaches later.
Appears to be a dogfish.
Bf and I caught a shark (and released it!) but what the heck is this??
