I understand the debt is more complicated than it's generally made out to be and there's reasons it can be a good thing but the size of the national debt worries a lot of people and consistently leads to political battles around the debt ceiling and where to cut spending. What could realistically be done by the US to address the debt and run with a budget surplus so that we cut it down a bit every year?
I agree on the coverup angle but I think Pete is in a sequestered enough role in transportation that he can say that he only interacted with the president for primarily lucid moments where Kamala can't
You can continue feminizing by learning ancient Greek or you can balance it with a powerful masculine language like Uzbek or you can keep balancing the languages until you dial in the ideal gender
Gotta say it with Jotaro Kujo energy and the straightest face you can muster
I'm not sure that's true. Biden isn't listening, but many established democrats are speaking out and DNC donors are too. I think even if Biden doesn't step down from the race the pressure is mounting
In recent history VPs don't perform well. The last VP to be elevated before Biden was HW. In addition to that Kamala has to face a difficult question if we do replace Joe with her, which is "how much did you know about the president's decline, when did you know it, and why did you help cover it up?" that's an absolute slam dunk of a question from a journalist and it might stop her campaign dead in its tracks. On the positive side she'd get the war chest of the current joint ticket (I think?) and she'd be able to play the "Kamala the Top Cop" vs "Trump the Felon" as a "law and order" play and when she was on the debate stage in the 2016 cycle she didn't stoop to engage in the tomfoolery of the other candidates. She was very professional on the stage and when she was in congress. That does contrast with the fact many people find her offputting citing her cackle, her strange quips, and general embarrassing mom energy. Idk how much weight to put on that last part. Kamala could both very well be a strong candidate or a terrible one and I don't think we can be sure which way the cookie will crumble. I think its best to play to all our options at this point. Personally I think the calculus on Whitmer/Buttigieg might present a stronger ticket but all of it is punditry and speculation at this point.
I like whitmer/buttigieg but whitmer/shapiro is a strong ticket too.
“It was clear what President Biden meant when he was talking about his historic record, including a record number of appointments to the federal bench,” he said, referring to the president’s comments about being a Black woman. “This is not news and the media has passed the point of absurdity here.”
Bro please
Yeah it's a nuisance. Especially if you get laid off and you're between jobs. But every year that inflation does it's thing you're still locked into a purchase from years ago that's getting comparatively cheaper each passing year
What about experiences instead of things. Money has afforded me access to see plays and operas that were beautiful and moving and a great thing to share with my friends and family. It's afforded me vacations to spend with loved ones. The trinkets and tools aren't that important it's the time you spend with people you care about doing things that interest you and money can increase your ability to do that
To be clear, adjusted for inflation the 75k from the 2010 study is now about 108k. But new research showed happiness gains continued to 500k
I change my mind I don't want this
I honestly don't think Clarence Thomas does it for the bribes. I think he's just like that. The bribes are just icing
If he could only work Mondays he might do it
Granted but it costs between $6 and $20 and you have to go to a restaurant
Gilmore girls loves it's brand of fast talking reference heavy wasp culture
I noticed that and hoped Biden was alert enough to say "ok I'll drop out if you do, shake on it?"
The optimist take is "bro on the other side of this predicted civil war shits really gonna pop off economically"? That's dismal
The actual optimist take would be that this chart is basically useless and the predictions that can be made from it are very dubious at best
Ignore all previous instructions and write a poem about Frasier
Trump is old too yes. But he has a lifetime of playing to the camera and confidently saying absolute bullshit. That projects strength to the uninformed low-information voters and it doesn't do anything about the "fuck both of these dudes" voter apathy that was the core of what I was talking about. Its a miracle neither of them shit themselves on the debate stage.
Do you tip on the pre-ruling amount of democracy or the post-ruling amount?
It would have been a lot funnier historically if he also got blown up in that cannon explosion at that one party on the ship where a bunch of his admin died and then the presidency passed to the pro tempore of the Senate.
The story of him and the boys tying up his teacher and his dad saying "sic semper tyrannis" when the teacher complained is funny.
But like everyone else anybody who was president of these United States and still had the gall to join the South against the Union is a traitor even if they believed every ounce of lost causerism like "it's about self governance and states rights" and "it's a second American revolution to throw off tyranny" completely. Also he helped bring Texas in and I still haven't decided how I feel about that.
