I’m a very novice cyclist, but an engineer and sometimes an idiot, so my thoughts might be relevant. Thin metal can be very strong until it’s not. Once you have a stress path that isn’t supported (like a dent that sees an axial load), it’s likely to crumble. The scary thing about out things we ride on is that when they see their highest stress is often when we are counting on them the most.

I think it would be best to make this some sort of wall art piece if it’s sentimental.

Lol. I don’t want to shift to a 3-layer knife because I feel I might as well get a Leatherman at that point, but you do you.

They do not achieve the same density. Not even close. The rack in the OP can have bikes spaced very close to eachother on both sides. It’s perfect for when the level of care for the bike is low.

For the situation in the OP (ie, not mass bike storage, but a handful of commuters), a wave rack would absolutely be better. It’s more compact, more convenient, and would store more bikes more comfortably when used as poorly as above.

FYI, riv nut sets can be had pretty affordably at Harbor Freight. I’ve had good experiences using mine, although not on a bike.

For those interested, this is Diane’s review:

I appreciate all the products they carry but if I could buy them someplace else I would. The people who work here are either indifferent or unfriendly. I dread having to check out. Maybe it's not a good place to work??

And this is Fifth Season’s reply:

Those racks were fine for a long time, and are still very functional for large groups of people. Every elementary school and fruit packing plant I’ve ever seen has rows of them that are always full to the gills of WalMart bikes. It’s not terribly designed, IMO. It’s great if you need to pack hundreds of cheap bikes in a small space. Some scratching occurs, but most folks riding WalMart bikes aren’t too concerned about out that.

The issue arises when you need to pack a few, nicer bikes with afluent owners into a less small space.

They’re perfect rivals.

Larson has a very black and white, “it is what it is” viewpoint on things. There was that video of reading mean tweets where someone called him short and he said something like “I am short, why would that offend me?”

Hamlin has a very… manipulative, “it is what I say it is” viewpoint on things.

Denny seems to be the only one who can get under Larson’s skin. It’s fascinating to watch.

Sort of. The steak and shake is now a Taco Bell, but it is the same plaza.

I still have the belief that Wendy’s only watched the Chicago race last year and made all of their sponsorship decisions then. I’m for it.

I drove a non-police version Explorer for work and was averaging high teens. Admittedly, about 20% of the driving was pretty rough off-roading for a stock SUV, so maybe not overly representative, but even a V8 mustang likely does better than that.

Yes, Mustangs absolutely get better fuel economy than a Explorer/Tahoe, even with comparably sized engines. Tire life on the other hand…

I think he meant actual weight (fully loaded with fuel, oil, etc. as gross weight usually doesn’t include any fluids) and no trailer.

Relocate (preferred) the pipes or sleeve them. You don’t want the footing bearing on a bunch of PVC pipes. How fun will it be when the weight of the footing/structure causes a cracked on old PVC?

Unranked series with a free car* IMO. I think the Carb cup makes sense to follow the actual NASCAR tracks.

Was the second gen insight the one that looked exactly like a second gen Prius and basically faded into the background of the hybrid landscape? Because that direction sucked.

That’s the other way they could make it right. IMO, it wasn’t a bad car, just a bad CRX successor.

Lol. It’s perfect because it won’t cause permanent issues, but will probably be stuck long enough to be really embarrassing.
