I find the things that help me keep my cholesterol in check are eating lots of plants & high fiber foods, staying within guidelines for added sugar, and avoiding saturated fats as much as possible. But I'm guessing you already know all those tricks!

It really depends on your insurance. My insurance's (current) policy is that they will keep paying for it as long as you maintain at least 5% weight loss from your starting weight. I've lost well beyond that and when I got my annual renewal in September I was in a normal BMI range. It was renewed with no problem.

I'm staying on 2.4 weekly because it is working for me. I don't have any problems eating to maintain my weight rather than lose or gain. I make the decisions about what to eat and how much -- it isn't something that I have no control over. The meds are what give me that control.

I wish I could, I've never had it but it looks terrific. Coffee ice cream with dark chocolate chunks and coffee fudge swirl sounds like a great combination to me.

I moved away from It’s It too — tragic. I need to remember to treat myself the next time I’m back in California for a visit.

I really dislike present tense (mostly, I think there were a few books where I felt like the author pulled it off). But I truly hate second person POV.

I'm no. 1 on the hold list for Liz Moore's The God of the Woods that just came out this Tuesday. Looking forward:

  • The Mesmerist by Caroline Woods
  • Tell Me Everything by Elizabeth Strout
  • The Siege by Ben Macintyre
  • Here One Moment by Liane Moriarty
  • Lovely One: A Memoir by Ketanji Brown Jackson
  • The Widow's Guide to Dead Bastards by Jessica Waite
  • Long Island Compromise by Taffy Brodesser-Akner

I think setters and spaniels are good fits -- I might add English setter and English springer spaniel (preferably show type lines for either, they may be a bit calmer and need a bit less physical exercise). Another dog you might want to look at is a rough or smooth collie.

No protein shakes here. My doctor told me absolutely no drinking your protein (no candy bars masquerading as "protein" bars either). I hate artificial sweeteners anyway.

IMO it's not great to force yourself to consume food that you dislike but think you should eat it due to some supposed health benefit. For me that leads to disordered eating and obsessive thinking around food.

I wish! But having anyone think so is a lovely compliment, thank you.

I'm in maintenance and staying at 2.4 weekly, with no intention of changing at this point. However, I don't really have side effects from this drug. If I did, I would certainly try going down to 1.7.

Hill's Perfect Digestion for food.

Java Jolt or Bride's Cake, can't decide!

In the order I read them:

  • We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver
  • Open Throat by Henry Hoke
  • James by Percival Everett

My idea of a good time on the Fourth of July is either 1) being in my hometown with my family, going to the festival, parade, and fireworks; eating my mom's fried chicken and apple pie OR 2) staying inside in the air-conditioning by myself, maybe having my own fried chicken and apple pie, and reading a good book.

Since my hometown is about 2100 miles away, I'm going with option 2. Looking forward to a bit of fried chicken and pie but I'm not going overboard (have definitely learned my lesson there).

Magpies. And I actually really like the banana pudding from Publix, too.

He sounds like me! I could eat fruit, beans, peas, etc. all day but I just don't love many vegetables the same way.

It helped me too -- glad I could find an opportunity to pass it along :)

ooh I like the looks of the Hillary too!

I had never heard of the brand until pretty recently. I wandered into a local shoe store and one of their shoes caught my eye. Tried it on and loved it! I've had great luck with all of theirs that I have tried. I love that they offer a pretty good selection of sizes and widths, too.

You can get a quality canned food from a company that truly invests in research, scientific formulation, and quality control for cheaper than paying for a "fresh" food from a company that invests more in marketing than in science. Purina One or IAMS would be great ones to look at. There's nothing wrong with kibble for most dogs, but if you want your dogs to eat something else, I would look at canned from a reputable company that meets the highest WSAVA guidelines.

Mine haven't been dry that I have noticed, but like another commenter, my last package had pieces that just fell apart while cooking. The earlier ones didn't do that.

Arcopedico LS are my office shoes of choice. I do wear others, but the Arcopedico LS is my mainstay. They come in a huge rainbow of colors, are super comfortable to wear all day long, and I think they look good. https://arcopedicousa.com/product/ls/

Runners-up - lots of stuff from Ros Hommerson. I love their shoes, they look just interesting enough and they always fit me perfectly and let me go all day without even a twinge. My particular favorites are the Chelsea Mary Jane and the Nelly oxford (no longer offered but I recently picked up a pair on EBay because I love them so much and it made me sad to think that when my current pair gave up the ghost I couldn't get them anymore). However, there are lots more options from Ros Hommerson.

I was listening to a podcast the other day and they interviewed a dietician who was very clear that vegetables are great but they don't give you anything you can't get elsewhere. Our culture has lionized vegetables as the be all and end all, and scares people into believing that they'll die early if they don't stuff their faces with vegetables all day long. If you are a parent and your children don't love vegetables, you are judged as a bad parent, but if your children do love vegetables, you are a great parent even if your vegetable-loving offspring is a serial killer (okay, a little exaggeration there, but you get the point).

Don't try to force yourself to eat food you genuinely don't enjoy IMO. Life is too short.
