I also heard they kept catching him sunning himself on a rock. Gotta do that in private, Lizard dude,
Absolutely - blunt honesty is better than vague waffle. But in this case, where the OOP was having a psychotic episode, it was interesting to see so many reddit doctors’ bedside manner switch to being more gentle (as “you’re manic, take your medication” would not have been helpful here).
Sending vibes of compassion and support your way. I hope you can find a good psychologist and/or the meds to help you through this. I’ve lived with (personally and through close family) major depression and anxiety - it does suck, it does take time, but it DOES get better. You learn to live with it and accept there are times it will come back, but that’s ok.
For the OOPs of this world - with insane PTSD - it can especially be long and hard (but even he left his awful ex eventually).
And yes “just get therapy” seems to have become the new “just stop being depressed” which is ridiculous.
Yes, absolutely. Just added a bit to my comment to make that clear - last thing I wanted to suggest is therapy is useless.
This whole, awful saga is a lesson in how therapy and good advice from Reddit aren’t the magical fix people want them to be. An incident like what OOP experienced (home invasion and witnessing his mother’s murder) can break people. Whether it’s problems with addiction, mental illness violence or abusive relationships. Similar to people who survive plane crashes but end up unaliving themselves.
Edit: wanted to add that therapy absolutely can and does save lives, every day, everywhere. But it’s a process and can be complex. Not the “and they lived happily ever after” a lot of younger Redditors assume.
Yeah I stopped at the insanely traumatic home invasion and murder of a parent. Because a lot of people never, ever recover from something like that.
You don’t feel sympathy for him?! He witnessed his mum and dog getting stabbed to death during a home invasion. Wtf dude?
We’re all thinking it’s something sexy. What if he’s asking her to check a mole or something.
No one ever thinks about the family of a henchman
I would love an energy weapon to be pointed at me, as long as it was on charge. I’m so tired. As the saying goes, ‘my favourite childhood memory is energy’.
Did you temporarily die and go to actual adhd hell?! That sounds like utter torture.
Snort. Steamroller memory unlocked. That was so bloody funny.
This was a beautiful summary Lucy, and I’m glad you included how you reached out and chatted to her. Fingers crossed this very brave young woman is going to be ok.
From pathetic to utterly terrifying. A great performance.
Fifth Gear were very good, they do students with autism so understand anxiety.
Yup. Also that people can like dogs from a distance (and in funny dog videos) but have no desire to get up close and personal to one.
Yes - 100 per cent remotely. Couldn’t do it any other way.
She is one of the most relatable BORU brides ever. Mature enough to let it go but honest enough to admit she needed a vent about it too.
The ‘his’ home really bothered me too
Very hard to shoehorn that skill into SVU…
Kylo’s stiff awkwardness is part of his charm. You just know he took notes from Qimir on how to be smooth and sexy to get Rey on his side.
