Do you think reason is synonymous with goodness?

Nope.

If not, what are some examples of things that are unreasonable to believe, but nevertheless good to believe?

Nothing comes to mind.

One of the major differences between atheist and Christian belief, I think, is that Christians believe that reason and goodness are synonymous,

Do they? This is the first I'm hearing about it. How exactly do you define reason and goodness then? Every dictionary I own says they mean different things.

and therefore necessarily believe the reverse is true.

I'm going to assume you meant atheists here and that your sentence is just missing some words. Either way it's silly. Neither Christians not atheists are required to believe the opposite of everything that a Christian believes. You know that's silly.

I think an atheist can agree with this, and base his belief (or lack thereof) on the notion that belief in God is non-optimal for individual or human flourishing.

My lack of belief is based on the lack of evidence. I don't base my beliefs on whether or not something benefits human flourishing. That again would be very silly. Do you think atheists reject the existence of cancer, or genocide, or politicians just because they're not good for us? I certainly don't. I believe in things for which there is compelling evidence regardless of whether or not I would want those things to exist.

But I suppose I’m more interested in arguments that decouple reason from goodness.

I've got twelve dictionaries that say they're entirely different words. What more would I need than that? I have to assume you're using one of these words in a way the dictionaries are unfamiliar with but you never presented your own definition and I can't guess what it is.

Otherwise you get in a position where atheism is only tenable so long as no religion that unequivocally provides better outcomes exists.

The only outcome I care about is how well my beliefs match objective reality. Show me one religion that can beat me in that regard. I don't care if being wrong has benefits. If flat earthers all got a million dollars and a blow job, that wouldn't change the shape of the planet.

Unfortunately the subreddit has grown to the point where it's popular enough that Reddit decided to start showing it to people who don't know who Mauler is or what EFAP is.

I'd say not very reliable at all as the article isn't even trying to prove that God exists. Rather, the article explains why the most popular attempts to prove God's existence with mathmatics all fail in their attempts. Did you not actually read it yourself before asking our opinions?

I'd have to ask them to explain what they mean since their response appears to be completely unrelated to what you said.

Timeless fork isn't referring to a person's intrinsic characteristics like their race, sex, or gender.

What about specifically when you use a word to express your hatred of a person's race, sex, or gender?

I think just about any label can be used as a slur if someone intends to use it that way. The words themselves are harmless, it's the hatred behind them that can cause harm.

I don't think that's what they were saying. I think they were expressing their race, sex, and gender based hatred of another person. To me that makes it a slur or something so similar that the difference is irrelevant.

I literally can't look at Willow. It's not on D+ anymore.

Three happy dupes is nice, but how about three happy dupes and a mobile nuclear reactor?

It's generally a pretty neutral term but it can also be used as a pejorative. I've seen videos of people screaming "You're a cis white male!" and they were absolutely using those words as slurs. It all boils down to context and tone really.

He wasn't exactly a Jew either. He did worship the same God as Abraham in the story but Job didn't live in Israel and Judaism wasn't really a fully fledged religion yet back in Job's day. Job definitely never read the Torah since he's a character in the Torah.

The purpose of the story was showing us, the readers, that faith even through trials and tribulations, can still prosper.

But that doesn't make what God did any less evil. If I cut off your legs to prove a point I'm still being a dick.

When Job became a Christian, he effectively signed up for trials and tribulations, thus making it justified.

Job wasn't a Christian.

No idea how your brain was able to react that way.

Because I often find absurdity funny when it's not making me angry.

The majordomo they were chasing is a comedic, cowardly, effete character, how were you able to miss that?

I was laughing at the Power Rangers rejects and their silly scooters.

However they also used that scene as the 1 big piece that was supposed to make the punk gang look "badass",

And I found their failure funny. How hard is it to make a biker gang intimidating?

It's only "incompetence" if you overthink it, so yeah.

No, it was an immediate reaction to what I perceived as obvious incompetence. I laughed the moment I saw it. I didn't have to have a think about it and decide later that their actions were those of an idiot.

I mean if you were playing as a black guy you'd just be farming sugarcane all day long. On the other hand, I do quite enjoy farming games.

Oh this is a Netflix movie? I thought it was for one of those YouTuber boxing matches.

Even if what you say is true, that'd still be a major problem. If you swap one character for a different one you're going to need to make more changes to your script than just changing the character's name.

What nose lizards?

The lizard that went up Boba Fett's nose and into his brain to cause a hallucination that would lead him to find his stick.

Gun train wasn't funny?

The gun train was hilarious.

The slow speed chase was intended comedy, hello?!

I don't believe that.

"Bringing the rancor instead of a gunship" is some kinda logic nitpickery stuff, hardly qualifies as "unintentional comedy" which is a more visceral, tonal thing.

It's one of many examples where the show tries to present incompetence as something cool. I find that very funny.

Edith should have recognized Mysterio and not allowed itself to be controlled by him and Dr. Strange was an idiot. I wouldn't call most of the other issues major problems unless I'm forgetting something.

Idk what you mean, it had a good amount of humor and it was better than most of the humor/levity from Obiwan where it sucked

I'm talking about the unintended comedy of the show, the pure nonsense of it. The nose lizards, the gun train, the assassins who forget to bring weapons, the slow speed chase through the city on scooters, bringing a rancor to the final fight instead of a gunship. Stuff like that.

The other shows have plenty of funny moments too but I think Boba Fett has more stupid per minute than the rest.

Like?

Like all the ones who aren't Muslims.

And how does that explain the "internal waves" part?

Where's that quote from? The verse you posted doesn't mention internal waves. Either way you can easily tell the water below the surface is moving simply by diving underwater and looking around. You can see the plants moving.

Logic and time appear to accurately describe reality. Gods and devils not so much.

I read Atlas Shrugged and thought it was an alright story but I didn't adopt the politics of it. I think it's hilarious that the movie they made flopped but they financed a sequel anyways and lost even more money. Pretty ironic considering what the book is about.
