For context i speak 5 languages fluently or moderately.Somali ,Swahili ,English ,Amharic and a mix of fusha/masri Arabic ,and since I thought mixing languages as a kid was fun,I’ve developed this weird ideolect where I’ll refer to stuff with the first word that comes to my mind for example soo qabo yene kalamu (yene being Amharic and kalamu for Kiswahili) or do you know mesha dige bantalonehey(Arabic for trousers).because of this,I’m starting to feel like I can never have a smooth conversion with someone that only speaks one or two of those languages since 50% of their replies revolves around the line “maxa dahde?”.

Why do people act dumb ? The Ethiopian government has caused a lot of suffering for ethnic Somalis ,both from the Somali region and Somalia.so obviously there is going to be resentment or did you think people were going to act like nothing tragic has happened to their family members because we are “neighbours” .
