The issue is both of them were ready to fight each other in both situations but didn't want to. Obito being prepared to fight vs Kabuto there doesn't give him the advantage same as Kabuto preparing to fight vs Rinnegan Obito. They both were on the back foot so just saying "he was going to face off against Kabuto and you know it" doesn't mean he would win. I don't think Obito even thinks he would win since he already expressed his concerns with Itachi previously.
